Wishlist for me is:- Korean an interesting/regional chinese (Sichuan would be amazing) Moroccan or other north african Authentic Sri Lankan or South Indian (I know we have Ganapati but would be lovely to have something similar on LL) Plus anything else diverse and interesting, Persian/Ethiopian/Lebanese/Vietnamese all sound great.

In all seriousness, this is a very minor change and I see no serious reason why you should object other than the obvious one of not wanting building work going on near your house. A handful of extra children at the junior school is not going to have any measurable effect on air quality. BTW I live right by the school and have never had a problem with it, they operate just the same as any other school.

Why would this be anonymous? I just don't understand. Why would the GoFundMe page not have the name of the school on it? Why are you so reluctant to say which one it is? I'm sure you are a genuine, well-meaning person so why would you present this in a way that looks so much like a scam? I'm afraid there are plenty of dodgy GoFundMe pages out there that prey on peoples trust and generosity.

Yes no doubt this is what it's all about - CPZ, charging for brown bins, the council is trying to generate as much money as it can. The reason should be obvious. Councils have been absolutely gutted financially by successive governments' austerity cutting the money they get from central government and capping the amount they can charge in council tax. Nonetheless Southwark council has obligations to provide critical services and so it looks for every penny it can get. I don't blame them exactly, but I think it would be more honest (and more efficient) just to take the money in council tax - if they were allowed. Doing it this way creates hassle and bureaucracy, and causes a deterrent effect on our high street.

I'd like to see them try and put a clamp on a skip.

Thanks that's helpful. If the proposal is merely to drape ivy over existing railings I don't know why they couldn't have just said so. Not sure how people can object to that really. Edit: equally unsure as to why they even need a consultation on that.

I haven't seen a map so maybe I'm misunderstanding but isn't this green barrier right at a bus stop? I can definitely foresee that causing real annoyance for people trying to cross the road after getting off the bus.

It's stuff like this that makes me completely lose faith in local democracy. The council feels like the enemy of the people who actually live here. First the pointless double-yellow nonsense. Our (virtually traffic-free) road has had parking removed for no purpose or benefit. There was a consultation, I objected as did other neighbours I know, but of course the council go ahead anyway. Now this CPZ which has the local high street up in arms, the majority of local people seem to either actively object or see it as totally pointless. But the upshot is, something we had for free is now going to cost money. And not just that, but there will now be a massive hassle if I (as a non car owner) want to hire a car, or have a visitor come in their car, or presumably a tradesman as well, since it will require finding and paying for permits taking time out of my life to visit council offices nowhere near where I live or work. I assume this is being driven by a need to raise funds (and I sympathize with councils who have been cut relentlessly by this government) and/or a principled objection to cars and driving. But frankly it's irrelevant. The fact is that the council will do this, we know it's just how they operate - despite campaigns and objections sooner or later they will impose their CPZ. It's totally depressing and I'm not surprised so many people don't bother even voting in local council elections.

Not sure why anyone would object to this other than a neighbour who doesn't want construction going on, or worried they will lose some privacy. But really building a house on a plot that is big enough, on a residential street, in an area that needs more housing seems like it's going to get waved through.
