  1. There been a very bad accident at the junction of village Way, east Dulwich grove/ red post hill - avoid for the next hour or so if you canhour of
  2. Might go to the Olympic pool - good idea, thanks! Kew is lovely but not sure it's the weather for it today, and quite pricey to get in
  3. My kids don't start back at school until Wednesday and will probably kill each other unless we do some kind of organised activity tomorrow. I'm all out of ideas - JAGS pool closed, DKHAP closed I think, they're bored of park, all holiday clubs finished. I do t want to go into town and end up spending lots of money. They're 10 and 7 - any ideas? I'm at my wits end!
  4. holiday club at st faiths, a few holiday activities at JAGS, play dates, SLYT musical theatre summer school, camping trip
  5. I like it. Gets very very busy at weekends when it's hot out. Don't bother with the changing rooms though - they are grim. I always get a spot on the decking. My kids love it - like a mini holiday. The pool isn't heated so be prepared for that. I'll be going on my day off tomorrow!
  6. Hi, I just wondered if anyone was already organising a collection of clothes, bedding, toys etc for the residents of Grenfell Tower who have escaped the terrible fire. I have things I'd like to donate but I can't get over to any of the collection points in West London. It would be great if we could organise something.
  7. I have discovered you can take unwanted textiles to H&M in Brixton for recycling and they will give you a ?5 voucher in return. Best solution I've found so far!
  8. Many thanks all. gebbjane and edanna notonthehighstreet looks very promising. Just have to make sure my daughter approves of the style!
  9. Try Local Greens https://www.localgreens.org.uk/ or Farmdrop https://www.farmdrop.com/#5H9ShKx7IYq6xjiD.97
  10. Thanks Edanna. I've also looked at those places too - I think I'll wait to see if they release new styles for Spring/Summer - fingers crossed! The Wild and Gorgeous dresses are lovely, but nothing in the right size.
  11. My 10 year old has been asked to be a flower girl at a family friend's wedding in September. She is thrilled about it. I have been asked to source a dress for her - it needs to match/complement the maid of honour's dress which is a mauve/lilac/pale purple colour. I've had a look online (Monsoon, Next, M&S, John Lewis, Boden, etc etc) but can't see anything quite right. Ebay not throwing up anything either. Any suggestions of where to look? I don't want to end up having a last minute panic so starting the search early!
  12. Does anyone know of textile recycling bins closer to North Dulwich/ Dulwich Village/ Herne Hill?
  13. I have an old Stompa cabin bed in my son's room. It is very solid. My son is 6, but before him my lodger who was in her early twenties used it with no problems. Stompa have some good deals in the clearance section on their website http://www.stompa.com/acatalog/Stompa-Clearance-Shop.html
  14. Thanks so much everyone. I think I'll probably tak her to Beauty Haven. It's a shame Harold george no longer do it as that's where I had my ears pierced many years ago!
  15. Can anyone recommend somewhere local (or central London) where my 10 year old can get her ears pierced (at her vehement request, I hasten to add - for her birthday). Harold George in Dulwich Village no longer does it and I'm not sure where else to go. I don't want to take her to Claire's Accessories and I want to make sure they do a very good job. TIA
  16. The most effective for me is making sure the kids are dressed before we go downstairs for breakfast. Not always possible, but it makes everything else so much easier. Also timers/alarms for the final countdown to getting out of the door.

Unfortunately this is pretty useless for anyone who works the usual office hours
  18. Thanks for this info James. Do you know where Southwark residents recycle textiles now that there are no longer facilities at supermarkets? I know that small electricals can be taken to any electrical stores e.g. Currys. 19. My children have a different surname and I've never had any problems travelling alone with them - never been asked for birth certificates or queried. I will make a note to take copies of birth certificates next time just in case.
  20. Ten pin bowling at the Elephant and Castle place - http://www.palacesuperbowl.com/parties.php Did this for my 9 year old's birthday and it was a great success Or you could see if JAGS sports club has any spaces left for their bouncy castle parties - always a winner
  21. Thank you! Roddy Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Big Sainsbury's in Sydenham. You might want to > click and collect just to make sure.
  22. I am an idiot and have left it late to get this - seems to be sold out everywhere online (unless you pay over the odds, which I won't!). Has anyone seem them in stock anywhere locally?
  23. My kids do karate with Sensei Beth at the Charter on Tuesdays and Fridays. She also runs classes at the Hornimal school. She is very good http://www.kaigaishii-karateschool.co.uk/karate-school-dulwich.html
