  1. From the looks of her I'd say her outgoings were fairly substantial.

  3. As with most areas of London the chippies in ED are pretty low quality (and that includes the Sea Cow). I always drive down to Herne Hill if I fancy fish and chips. Olleys absolutely destroys anything ED has to offer.

He lived well into his 80's and could regularly be seen in the Crossways Cafe ploughing into a fry-up. Nice man but I could never understand ANY of his work. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Latham_%28artist%29

  6. Bellenden- boasts public art created by Britain's foremost living sculptor and one of the UK's most ground-breaking conceptual artists (recently deceased). East Dulwich- getting more bland and mainstream by the day.
  7. This is going way off topic but as someone who buys a fair bit of vinyl I've given up on shops. Way more choice online and that's excluding the Bay of Dismay. I suppose the bigger issue is that if somewhere the size of Croydon can't support great 2nd hand record caverns like Beanos it doesn't look too good for ED. As for Chener's I just finished reading a great recommendation from one of the staff. Always found them to be super-helpful.
  8. Bellenden Belle Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > As for black youths hanging around with pitbulls - > are you sure that isn't estate agent prejudice? It absolutely was. Just got back from a night time art thing at McDermott Gardens in Bellenden. 3 yoot man dems skinning up in the corner and taking the piss out of the art installations was the highlight. lol

Some astoundingly mainstream dullards in this thread.
  10. Lived there for 6 years but frankly it's been getting a bit lame since the East Dulwich overlflow started moving in. I've lost count of the amount of times I've been down at the sorting office in Peckham and seen semeone from Bellenden colecting a parcel with East Dulwich SE15 on the adress. If you're so ashamed of the area go somewhere else. The Oglander in still one an awesome pub though. Lots of great music and still black enough to keep the home counties yahoos out. Frankly it does have 'Peckham Trouble'. Guy who runs our local shop on Avondale Rise got shot in the leg by some local yoots. Bloke got his throat slashed on Chadwick Rd last year. When I sold my last flat the estate agent (Bushells) was always complaining about 'black youths' hanging around in the street with pitbulls. Yeah it's south east London .....
  11. This thread is hilarious. Anyway while I too would like a record shop it'd never survive. The bloke who sells CDs from the stall on Saturdays has some very good stuff. Particularly if you like reggae. The sandwich shop (the blue fronted one) on LL is alright for bread but agree a proper bakery would be good.

  13. I work from home a lot and take conference calls on speaker-phone. Loads of people on the other end of the line have been complaining about the background noise from the jets. I don't notice it personally.
  14. They had a (never open) roof garden when it was under the previous management. Hopefully that's developed.
  15. When it first opened The Gowlett attacted quite a few lesbians. Not so much these days now though.
