  1. Rather than talking about asking prices and estate agent valuations the only figure that really matters right now is what surveyors put in their reports. Are the valuation surveys matching the accepted offers? I've heard of one instance in Telegraph Hill where ?30K was knocked off the final price (?440K down to ?410K for a 3 bed family house) due to the mortgage valuation. What's happening on this point in ED?
  2. I don't have any kids. The timing is irrelevant. He shouldn't have been charging around in there. End of. Sorry for the mis-identification. What breed is your Monty then?
  3. Was yours the dog running around off the leash in the kid's play area beside the cafe?
  4. Just to let everyone know I saw a large bull breed called Monty in the park half an hour ago. Fairly sure it was the dog in question.
  5. Have you considered putting posters up around the park?
  6. Who knows. He might still be around. Speaking about dogs bred in Ireland I've also seen an Irish Blue in Telegraph Hill Park (near Nunhead) that's blatantly a pit cross.
  7. Is the gear any good?
  8. You live in south London and you've never seen a pit? The Met's Status Dog unit are have been picking up loads of them over the last couple of years. There's one called Pikey (no seriously) that I used to see around Nunhead all the time.
  9. I've seen an American Bull with similar markings to those described at the start of this thread around Nunhead/Telegraph Hill on various occasions. For a while it was accompanied by a Cavalier King Charles. Owner was white, mid-late 30's. I'm not saying it's the same dog, just making an observation.
  10. If we see the owner and his dog in the park again what number should we call?
  11. Has the funding been approved for phase 2?
  12. The 78 from Nunhead/Peckham to Shoreditch would try the patience of a saint. Tube from New Cross Gate/Brockley to the trendy East End is a massive win for those of us that- A. Still have a social life B. Migrated north of ED.
  13. Skeehans in Nunhead/Telegraph Hill is alright for a game of 'arras. Teams travel there to play league matches etc.
  14. ^ Classic 'broken Britain'. Dogs, country....etc. etc.
  15. I know a few professional textile designers that live around here. They buy their fabrics in Lewisham.
  16. Leave it out FFS. Nobody in their right mind wants to buy a property next door to a load of junkies. I've know PLENTY down through the years and when they're fiending they don't give a damn about anyone but themselves. D, look out for yourself and ignore the sanctimonious posts above.
  17. Yeah I always find screaming kids to be a great addition to any book shop
  18. *fwap fwap*
  19. A few punters seem to read The God Delusion and become as rabid as the most extreme religious types. I went to a school run by catholic priests. It was alright. No apparent psychological damage.
  20. A dog control order won't make a bit of difference. The sort of dog owners who don't have any respect for public spaces also don't have any respect for the wardens that implement them.
  21. While obviously a very knowledgeable judge, I think a more informal approach would be more suited. I overheard one of the entrants telling the judge a lovely story about how her Staffie was rescued from a horrible previous life (used for breeding etc.). The judge seemed rather dismissive.
  22. By any regular person in the street's reckoning there were loads of dogs in the first event that were clearly not puppies. Also let's be honest, most dogs have long passed the 'cute' stage by 24 months. Personally I thought it would have been more 'FUN' if it hadn't been so uptight. It felt more like a wanna-be Crufts than a light hearted event for dogs and their owners. The MC was very good though.
  23. The dog show was a much more serious affair than the posters lead me to believe it would be. The 'CUTEST' puppy clearly wasn't the Tricolour Rough Collie. It was the small white fluffy thing which which didn't even make it into the last 8. The Collie might be closer to a Kennel Club breed standard but that wasn't what the competition was advertised as. Overall it seemed that there was a bias towards pedigree dogs as hardly any cross-breeds made it out of the first rounds. There's nothing wrong in this per-se as long as it's clearly communicated up front. So some suggestions for next year- 1. Use different judges for different categories. 2. Have a category for cross-breeds that might give the numerous ex-Battersea residents in attendance a chance at winning something.
  24. Headnizm has been there pre-94 I'm sure.
  25. Lovely Girls competition?
