  1. Well done Carolina for putting yourself out there. Good luck on finding somewhere. Sorry I can't help x
  2. We have a prius and have not encountered any problems with any car seats fitting.

Totally agree. Just hoping for the next instalment: when the alleged party house strikes back.
  4. Saffron gets on the wrong side of someone on the noise nuisance warpath. Gotta hope she replies! http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?5,1612790
  5. You could open a simple bank account for her and give her a set float per month for travel (contactless) and incidentals when she's with your kids so they never go short on small things and she could pick up odd bits of shopping for you (lifesaver when you run out of bread or milk and a great way to show you trust and respect them).
  6. Watching this with interest as we are thinking of having underfloor heating installed in what will be our kitchen/family room when we knock down a pesky wall or two. Can any of you splendidly experienced people recommend a brand and fitter you thought were good? We're not going for the electric one having moved into a house with it under a slate floor only for it to break within 4 months of us arriving and realising we'd have to pull up the whole floor to get it fixed (as we didn't have any replacements for the slate and couldn't match it well enough).
  7. We have just used Brad and his team for the second time in our house. On the first occasion, he and his colleagues tiled our rickety old kitchen and patched up various holes in the ceiling left by moving light fittings. On this occasion they have painted three rooms and laid new flooring in one of our bathrooms. The work they have done is excellent and the people working on the jobs have been lovely. Brad is good at keeping in touch and evidently works very hard to keep his customers happy and his team in work. I can thoroughly recommend All Round Renovation for anyone who needs help to make their house look even prettier.
  8. HI Judith, I don't know where to get tarps from unfortunately but I do have some brand new men's clothing including trousers, warm hats, belts and gloves which I bought in September and missed the deadline for my local drop off. If I deliver them to you might you be willing to take them with you if you have space please? Thanks Sadie
  9. Its really all about parental choice but we don't allow our 2.5 year old daughter to watch TV generally. If she does watch then she's limited to 20-30 min bursts on 2-3 days per week. There are often tears when the TV time comes to an end but we usually give her fair warning and remind her that watching TV is a privilege we won't give to her if she ends up crying everytime. Even if that doesn't work, she gets over it pretty quickly if distracted by another activity instead. Occasionally (about 3 times - yesterday, Happy Feet) we watch a film together which is real bliss, though I always have to remind her to blink!
  10. Is the ?400 a definite figure as advised by the CMS? https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/325219/how-we-work-out-child-maintenance.pdf Looking at this, if your partner earns ?60k gross per year the weekly earnings figure would be ?1,183 a week and for 2 kids maintenance is 16% of the first ?800 pounds of gross income and 12% of any income after that. I'm guessing that your partner's gross income must be reduced by his pension payments/expenses or other children he supports and/or by having your kids on a shared custody basis but that's all within the rules of the Child Maintenance Service, as shitty as it is. I know this might sound stupid but is there any chance of trying to work something out with your ex-partner without the need to external agencies involved?
  11. Before anyone starts with the bullying rhetoric, I have no preformed opinion on Dulwich Fox but, I suspect through ignorance of the law, his post comparing the decision in a decided case to the contents of a government website warning someone of the maximum penalty is nonsense. In the news article, the gentleman was convicted of possession of an offensive weapon probably on an agreed facts basis given the prosecutor's comments as regards the Defendant's reasons for carrying the knife and limited intention in doing so. Details of the maximum sentence which can be awarded on that crime can be found here: http://www.cps.gov.uk/legal/s_to_u/sentencing_manual/knives_and_offensive_weapons/ If dealt with in the Mags Court then its a maximum sentence of 6 months' imprisonment plus fine but if handled on indictment into the Crown Court then it's up to 4 years plus fine. So, whether dealt with in the Mags or the Crown Court the maximum sentence is more punitive than the maximum for non-payment of Council Tax. The Defendant in the reported article looks to have made an early plea (reference to having pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing), there was probably a pre-sentencing report prepared and he was of previous good character which are all pretty good reasons why he shouldn't face the maximum and which, coupled with a relatively benevolent set of agreed facts, justify a non-custodial sentence. If you're going to make a point about sentencing on knife crime on the back of a thread about an horrific local incident, you may as well get your references right. As you were. 12. That artwork is amazing. I saw it in outline on Fri night and by Sat it was already coming together. By Sunday it was magnificent. What a great addition to Herne Hill. Can we have one in West Norwood please?
  13. I know of a place for rent in Bromley, if that's not too far? Short term let only - 3 bed house with driveway and massive garden. Don't know the place personally just posted on a fb group I'm a member of. PM me if you want me to try and put you in touch with the person who is renting it out.
  14. We manage our own properties very happily. We find UPAD is a really good support website and great for finding new tenants. The s.20 notice is not particularly difficult to get right but won't even become relevant unless you have a fall out with your tenants.
  15. Lambeth is a great county court and very useful. Plus Wandsworth CC is actually in East Putney so absolutely miles away! Thanks for publicising this.
  16. get stuff from baker ross - they do cool party bag things like little insects you can make and set flying etc
  17. We get ours from Abel and Cole and it is one of the most delicious drinks on the planet (which sadly I can no longer enjoy as I've become lactose intolerant). Bloody lovely though.

  19. Hever castle or penshurst place near Hever in Kent. Hever had jousting etc on last week and there's a venture playground and maze at penshurst place.can get the train to Hever via east croydon or Lon bridge.
  20. Try handy. It's been awesome for me. ?10 per hour and full insurance. Love the lady who is cleaning for us through them (4 bed, 2 bath plus extra loo) for 4 hours.
  21. O and get a potette portable potty.they are awesome!
  22. we used the princess polly sticker book (there's a pirate pete one if your child would relate more to a pirate or a boy) which was ace. We let our daughter read it for about 2 weeks before we started training (set for her 2nd birthday) but didn't let her use any of the stickers until we started. We also did a big trip to the shops so she could choose her own pants (frozen: what else!). When the big day came she was desperate to do all the sticking in for the story itself and to wear her big girl pants. We did the stickers at the back of the book for the first week and then moved on to her getting a new princess sticker (she got them for her birthday and i had to get rid of them someway) for every day that she didn't have an accident. We started a month ago and she just did her first weekend with no accidents at all and she puts herself on the potty. I've never felt the need to let her go commando as she is capable of pulling her pants down (and even leggings to my surprise) and i think it helps them to feel wet.
  23. I think we should all have a pact not to disabuse north Londoners of their views on the south. They'll only start moving here if we do.
  24. We just used handy for the first time (it's an app) and we had the lovely Joan. It was great and we're going to stick with them. There's no long term commitment. All paid through bank transfers and they have an introductory offer of 2 hours for ?15 with promo code ESTATE.
  25. You could get an apartment on paxos, gorgeous secluded and quiet island near Corfu. You'd probably want to hire as well though. Its worth it as the place is magical.
