  1. Thanks all - after some research we went with a zip car - I was lead to believe that this was a more expensive option (esp as we were doing more than the allocated 60 miles ) but actually it was ok! The fact there were several parked locally made it particularly easy. I would highly recommend-
  2. Alleyn park garden centre have lovely trees and will deliver
  3. Yes very possibly - will see if there is somewhere in the app to report
  4. A bunch of keys with a small Welsh flag and heart have been left in the glove box of the zipcar parked on Underhill - near the junction with Barry Road. Message me if they are yours
  5. we need a car for the weekend and cannot find somewhere local that hires cars for the weekend - just Vans so far. any recommendations appreciated.
  6. No no no - do not remove short term parking - most of those cars are driven by people visiting the shops. Reduce that and you will reduce foot fall.
  7. Thank you - I shall pass this on. Thankfully I don’t have to deal with this issue.
  8. heard from a resident in a CPZ that it was practically impossible to get a permit renewed before it had expired. She could not find anything on the website, and it was practically impossible to speak to anyone on the phone.
  9. all the saplings were planted by children so I am pretty sure only safe plants would have been used.
  10. what a shame about the shrubs being removed from Dog Kennel Hill School = that was planted by the children several years ago - in recognition of a lovely head teacher who retired. What a shame the had not got the good grace to retain that.
  11. As a driver, pedestrian and cyclist I am afraid that I have observed mainly cyclists ignoring the rules of the road - particularly when I am on my bike at traffic lights (mainly Dulwich village and red post hill junctions). The best ones were a chap in a cargo bike whizzing thru a red light with kids on board, plus the dad with 2 children behind him- jumping the red lights - the cars with the right of way had to avoid his small children going across their path..
  12. Thank you for the recommendation- will def visit soon.. I must admit I have been intrigued by the coffee - saw quite a queue for it last weekend !!
  13. Quite a number of us who visit the park have wondered the same thing. Also, since a lovely tree in Peckham park was almost mistakenly cut down, the confidence in the council is not 100%
  14. What ridiculous waste of money
  15. No - the bakery had to close as rent shot up - then Gail’s stepped in …
  16. The swifts have been zooming around the last few days !! Near piermont green and this end of Friern Road! Loads of them
  17. Yes saw around 10 last night, plus a bat and stag beetle earlier in the week (near piermonf)
  18. Loads in upland road last night…
  19. Malumbo - Umm no, I didn’t say or suggest any of those things. I said that the council is trying to create parking pressure so as to introduce blankets CpZ. There is no need for 3 bike bays within steps of each other. I find it amusing that you cannot tolerate any (often justified)whisper of critism of the council. BTW I frequently use lime bikes and am over 60.
  20. I think the issue is that tickets were issued before the suspension signs went up. The owners had no reason not to park there. Also, on returning they may think that maybe they DID miss the signs (I think that is what I would do) . So I thank the OP for the sharing the information.
  21. Yes it does reduce parking as it is usually accompanied by extended yellow lines. Dulwich village is a perfect example. The council creates parking pressure by reducing space to convince residents to accept a cpz. The other trick is to introduce lots of e bike and scooter bays whether or not they are needed. An example is by the Herne Tavern. One was put next to the bike hanger on st aidans, another is next to the bius stop where on the pavement, and another is now on the road just opposite - three all within 15 paces of each other. They are usually empty.
  22. I do not believe for one moment local businesses asked for more yellow lines and the removal of available parking for customers. This is part of the ‘creep’ of removing parking - ultimately to introduce paid for parking (which is their policy).
  23. The coop of Forest Hill Road is very different- cheerful and helpful staff
  24. There were a couple of incidents (pre pandemic) of possibly contaminated meat being left on Peckham rye. I remember having a conversation with one of the gardeners. Always best to be cautious
