Could they not just invest in things like filling in the potholes their beloved cyclists come acropper on, investing in the dog kennel hill playground buildings, instead of these bonkers vanity projects?
spend less on the endless consultations (which are then ignored)
I totally get that the council's have had their funding slashed but it just seems weird that there are so many vanity projects versus real probems with solutions. I spent today in traffic jams (sorry but I am self employed whizzing around various clients carrying files) I cannot see how stationary traffic on parts of the south circular, along brockwell park and in dulwich village are helping to combat polution. Sort the pot holes on Dog Kennel Hill bus/bike lane before someone comes acropper
But that is exactly what is happening - all the schools and nursery on East Dulwich grove are getting more pollution. The closed off roads are the more expensive areas with larger front gardens!
I wish they would invest the money from the LTN fines and cpz charges (which have doubled since their inception) in the quality of the roads! I am on a bike and am encountering particularly shocking road surfaces at the moment - coming down dog kennel hill is pretty dangerous and East Dulwich grove is shocking.
Unfortunately most of the local vets have been bought up by investment companies who are creating artificially high prices. The same thing happened to lordship lane vets when they were taken over by medivet…
Recently had a word with 2 wardens each ticketing cars displaying a blue badge…. They both sauntered off after. It is about churning out as many tickets as possible - valid or not. It really annoys me that the council is playing this continuous game of trying to catch us out- to fill the coffers. They keep claiming poverty but then unsettle yet more consultations re preparing for new road layouts which then cause chaos, which necessitate another consultation to discuss how to improve it. I’m wondering how many councillors have shares in Conway……
Tbh after the last Cpz fiasco I do not believe the council when they say the residents of Gilkes and Carlton want a CPZ. That’s what they said about the Dulwich hill cpz quoting consultations back in 2019 which no residents were aware of. I suspect that they have spaffed away millions of public money on a traffic warden contract that is no longer needed so they are trying to create areas for them to patrol/raise revenue. I wonder how much money all the new ‘improvements ‘ to Dulwich Village will cost? They have already spent a fortune to create massive congestion outside a primary and infant school.
2 pairs of shoes - one hiking style boots and other a pair of pink sparkly trainers. probably fit toddler - 4 years?
left on the wall - corner of northcross and nutfield road
Today (11.30) there was a young man (small, white with beard) behaving very violently towards the two dogs he owns. (Nunhead lane/consort road) I have sussed out where he lives and reported to council and police. If anyone has any further info please PM - but please don’t want an online pile on. Just a quiet resolution. Tia
