  1. Sorry not a nut allergy parent but as no one else seems to have responded and you sound so fed up I thought I would reply. So sorry you have got to deal with this worrying condition. First off completely ignore idiotic husbands friends maybe they think they are being helpful by being flippant- they sound deeply immature/unab,e to deal with emotion !! I know lots of schools are geared up for dealing with severe nut allegies and even in nursery I remember how strict they were about birthday cakes coming from nut free environments. Not sure how old your child is but would suggest like anyother parent that when he starts school quickly try to get to know the parents of his friends and arrange playdates when you can attend till you can build your confidence in them.Whilst im sure you may have some who feel they would struggle to deal with the situation just agree their child can come to your home where you can controll the environment more easily. A few of my daughters friends have allergies though not to the same degree and i like most responsible parents will always check before a child comes to visit about any special requirements. A friend of mine reguarly has her daughter's friend come to stay who has very serious asthma attacks. Whilst my friend was rather concerned at first she made sure she had written instructions on how to deal with emergencies and whilst she has had to deal with a couple of streeful situations is accepting of this as she recognises how important this friend ship is. so hopefully parents will respond positively to you and your son. Might also be worth checking for online support services as im sure there are many parents in your situation who are also struggling to work out how they will manage these situations. Hope someone local responds soon
  2. thanks all I am trying all the above!Definate improvement over the last couple of days though she still feels she had to wear sunglasses and cap in public thankgoodness the sun came out so it didnt seem too odd
  3. Hi all i can find various threads about chicken pox is guidance about the itchy stage - which was very useful at that point but has anyone got any tips about how to speed up recovery from the scabby stage as my daughter is convinced that people are scared of her and wont go out unless wearing a hat and dark glassess! whilst she can get away with this a little I am worried as she is due to be doing a summer activity session next week with lots of children she doesnt know and she is getting very tearful about it. Any suggestions for helping the marks fade would be very welcome
  4. Ive recently had a very similar experience. i was distarcted by a mobile phone and didnt remove my money. It was only 30 mins later when i realised what i had done. I went back into the branch and they got me to complete a form - cant for the life of me remember the name of the form. The staff informed me that the money is only presented for a remarkably short time ie approx 10 seconds and then gets taken back in. Being cynical i never believe i would see the money again but within 2 weeks it was credited into my account so derinately worth a try !I would imagine that if you were picking up your wallet contents there was enough time before someone else got to the cashpoint for the machine to have reabsorbed the money . good Luck
  5. Hooray, I spotted some people today in high vis jackets and was going to ask what was happening and someone has already answered my question before I asked it !
  6. When I had done something wrong accidently and tried to get out of a telling off for it by saying " but I thought...." my mum in a very frustrated voice would always say " Thought, do you know what thought did? He wee'd in his pants and thought he was sweating !" Though as i got older it became the slightly more risque "pee'd in his pants and thought he was sweating! " I said it recently to my little girl just for old times sakes!
  7. Yes those are some of them. they seem to be all first world war. One of the New Zealand ones was specifically from the "Maori division" and one of the Canadian ones was The Cycling Corps. I had wondered if they had been injured in action and brought here then died as they seemed to come from such different battalians etc it didnt seem to fit with them being based here in Nunhead. I agree Cassius very sad to see young men of 18 and 19 buried half a world away from their families.
  8. Sorry I know this is relating to nunhead but as its a local beauty spot I hope it will be ok to post a query about Nunhead Cemetery. I was walking there today and noticed the war graves of Australian, South African and New Zealand soldiers. I was left wondering how these young men came to be buried in Nunhead. Does anyone know how and why ? Im hoping that someone will have ebeen on the guided tour and know the answer
  9. We have a kitten and my then 8 year old got upset when i was talking about a trip to the vets. When i asked why she said " I dont want her neutralised!. I fell about laughing and then explained I thought she meant neutered. sadly since this we have joked so much about iy when i rang the vets to arrange an appointment to get her spayed It was only after I put the phone down i realised i had accidently asked for her to be neutralised. oops
  10. http://http//www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/file.php?20,file=2697Here is nutmeg. She tries to contribute to the EDF reguarly as she sits on my lap and tries to catch my fingers as i type so my spelling is often rather shocking as i have to type fast !
  11. sorry about delayed response . but no i was not drunk though i didnt realise i was coming down with flu so maybe it was my eyesight. Seriously though i did have problem that night but it seems to have resolved itself. though suspect it may have been something to do with the zoom bit as the text was rather large. Bit of a technophobe im afraid
  12. I am not sure if it is me but i seem to be having a few difficulties with the forum this evening when i want to click on any of the blue headings i have to edge about 5 cms from where the writing is i accidently almost reported my own message twice instead of editing it oops. Any ideas?
  13. sorry I will have to practice this picture thing a little more as cant get it to work
  14. Any progress on the possibility of a nunhead forum there certainly seems to be some desire from ED forumites for nunheaders to not raise nunhead issues.
  15. Sorry:-$ it seems I was the person who brought the diagonal path into the discussion. Didnt realise what I was starting. The relevance of the diagonal path was there seems to be very limited support or use for a cycle path running along the side of the park whereas there is obviously a real desire/ need for the diagonal mud path to become less weather dependant and could (as the existing mud path already is) be used by both pedestrians and cyclists. An altogether nicer experience than breathing in the fumes of the many cars that are in traffic jams along the edge of the park most mornings
  16. I cant beleive that given how much poo is apparently being excreted/deposited in the park that any dog still needs to poo all the way down Adys road but regular as clockwork, there is dodge the poo style dancing all the way to school (st johns and St Clements). A hot spot seems to be right where the crossing lady has to stand which means she has had to become dual purpose helps children negotiate the road safely as well as walking the pavement without the added excitement of skidding in poo. Are dog owners in the area especially inadequate at cleaning up or is this part of an on going protest relating to the fence and a dog's right to poo where it wants ?
  17. Thanks bossboss i was rather suspecting the money had just been eaten up by the cost of repeated consultation exercises ! Still it is a shame that the whole ethos behind the money was to improve facilities on the side of the Rye that was most affected by the carbuncle that is aura court and 5 years later we finally get some seeds sown !!not exactly the increase in leisure facilities that was promised. Whilst I am pleased that footballers have somewhere to change Cant help feeling a bit churlish but..... cant help thinking could they not just have used the money to do something more exciting with the paddling pool area and maybe footballers could have worn their football kit under tracksuits.. hey voila almost instant ability to change into their kit ! Sorry maybe not being into football makes me a kill joy about the whole experience
  18. Cant believe they have resuurected this plan. They sent out consultaion on it to all local residents- my assumption was the plan had very little support and was then dropped. As a cyclist I agree that the road along the park is dangerous but the path seems bizarre as it just takes you back onto dangerous roads so seems a little pointless and conkers are a real problem. Given how few people walk on the path except near the bus stops, I would have thought a cheaper option is to have a combined leisure path (ie cyclists and joggers)using the existing path. If they are insistent on throwing money at the park why not convert the muddy trail cutting diagonally accross the park into a proper path. This is very much used by cyclists and pedestrians to the extent the muddy track is just as visible on google earth pictures the park as the concrete ones. As for the paddling pool debacle. When the developer of Aura court was applying for planning permission one of the "sweetners" offered to the council and to appease local residents was funds to reinstate the paddling pool. There had been general concern at the lack of leisure space in the new development which was over ridden by having a play area and paddling pool opposite. Funnily enough after it was built, it was then decided the pipework was so poor it was not possible to repair. I would love to know what happened to the developers money ! Sadly not sure i can make the meeting
  19. Got to say I was always a very smug cat owner who believed she would never have mouse/rat problems. My bubble has been burst as my cat has now decided that bringing in mice is a way of showing her love for me. I was unimpressed by the dead ones but realised the situation was out of control when she dropped a live mouse in my bed whilst i was sleeping. Didnt really sleep well for a while after that and now have to ensure i lock the catflap at night.
  20. Does anyone know what happened to the "White lady" who always used to be around Camberwell. Is she still around ?
