School coaches Townley Road

How interesting . Do you know any other details ? Did a railway company hope to run a line through there and then didn't go ahead ? -

I agree ,well done Ruby . But honestly they couldn't care less could they ? I suppose it won't be long before Townley Rd will simply be closed off at Dovercourt and absorbed into the school grounds . -

" illegally and dangerously parked, with their engines running that needs to be addressed." what I don't understand is why oh why aren't the existing remedies for this ( parking enforcement/police ) sufficient ? -

Looks like PP granted . But Southwarks endlessly infuriating planning pages with their remote exceptions and errors are keeping any other detail to themselves . -
Stranded car at entrance to Crawthew Grove
intexasatthe moment replied to worldwiser's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
What a traumatic time for your friend ,I do hope that car is sorted and that she's back home now . I once managed to get my car straddled between two roads of greatly differing heights .And then had to walk to local bar and explain by sign language ( rural hillside village in Spain ) .The inhabitants all turned out and physically manhandled car back onto the road . Excruciating . How did your friends car end up in such a position ? -
Update on Camberwell Grove bridge consultation
intexasatthe moment replied to macutd's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Just to try and be clear ,when I said "packs" I meant the large groups made up of individual cyclists who are unrelated to eachother which form at traffic lights . Not bike trains or other organised groups which I agree are courteous and careful of others . -
edhistory - I believe this ?Obligations and rights contained within the EU Protocol on animal sentience set out in Article 13 of Title II of the Lisbon Treaty shall be recognised and available in domestic law on and after exit day, and shall be enforced and followed accordingly.??(Caroline Lucas.) This new clause seeks to transfer the EU Protocol on animal sentience set out in Article 13 of Title II of the Lisbon Treaty into UK law, so that animals continue to be recognised as sentient beings under domestic law. is the ammendment that was proposed and voted against https://www.theyworkforyou.com/debates/?id=2017-11-15b.475.0 https://publications.parliament.uk/pa/bills/cbill/2017-2019/0005/amend/euwithdrawal_rm_cwh_1110.15-21.html

Update on Camberwell Grove bridge consultation
intexasatthe moment replied to macutd's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Wulfhound I've cycled for over 60 years ,all but a handful of those in London .Those early rides as one of 5 children following my dad through the Rotherhithe tunnel weren't highlights . What has put me off for the last 10 years is the number of other cyclists on the roads . I find them much more unpredictable than motor vehicles with a wide range of speed and skill .And of course they approach and pass silently . The packs that gather at junctions and lights I find particularly intimidating . Oh and the physical lengths one has to go to secure a bike where you live .Means I now walk shorter journeys where in the past I would have you used my bike . It saddens me -

Michelle that sounds awful . Assett - not good . I can't help wondering why this road doesn't seem to have any traffic warden presence like other roads in Southwark ? Does anyone know chapter and verse re legality and enforcement relating to blocked roads ? Can the police help if the road is blocked as per Assett's pic ? Can fines be issued if photos with reg nos and time and date provided ? Or does a Traffic Warden have to be there at the time ? >Posted by Glemham November 06, 11:56PM Local residents are only too well aware of this ongoing and completely unacceptable situation with coaches and school parking in Townley Road. We frequently monitor the dangerous parking, ask drivers to turn off their engines, take photos and send them to local councillors and Helen Hayes MP. Last year saw the publication of the Foundation Schools Coach survey: [consultations.southwark.gov.uk] which promised much but delivered nothing. Please support us by sending your concerns to local councillors, Helen Hayes MP and the Transport Manager for the Foundation School coaches who is based at Dulwich College: [email protected]. Glemham what sort of response have submissions /complaints had ? -
> If 816 people drink two pints at all 23 home games, then they would hit the ?150,000 mark. And that's before you consider crisps, soft drinks and pork scratchings. I'm beginning to confuse this thread with the coach parking in Townley Rd one ,everything is starting to sound like those complex maths questions . But ,seriously I wish there were a clear set of figures somewhere showing income ,expenditure ,input from Meadows . Smething to answer Ruffers questions above .

Plural bars and businesses only generate an income of ?156000? Is that profit after overheads ,costs wages whatever or just an income ? Even if the latter it seems very low to me ,not that I have any facilty at all with numbers .Not entered for O level Maths because I'd be a "waste of the entrance fee" Me ,bitter Miss Gibbs ? Noooooo.
