  6. Or even better grasscrete ( or similar ) and use that empty semi circle as a car park and thus benefit the local community .
  7. No suggestion that the application was for homeless housing or Mon - Friday workers . Just musing that it might be a good idea if it were .
  8. I wasn't entirely serious James ! But never mind draconian parking enforcement ,has ordinary parking enforcement been tried ? Are FPN being issued ?
  9. How interesting . Do you know any other details ? Did a railway company hope to run a line through there and then didn't go ahead ?
  10. I agree ,well done Ruby . But honestly they couldn't care less could they ? I suppose it won't be long before Townley Rd will simply be closed off at Dovercourt and absorbed into the school grounds .
  11. Interesting ,could well work .Though 47 seems a bit excessive . Wonder if fewer dorm beds and some ensuite single rooms might cater for people working in London during the week .
  12. " illegally and dangerously parked, with their engines running that needs to be addressed." what I don't understand is why oh why aren't the existing remedies for this ( parking enforcement/police ) sufficient ?
  13. It'll be bounced out of the way .
  14. I don't understand why there isn't a traffic warden presence .
  15. Michelle just wanted to say thanks for being proactive and talking to the manager ,best way to get things sorted .
  16. This iniative is no aimed at rough sleepers but some of the concerned people on this thread might consider donating https://www.wearebeam.org/
  17. Ok Southwark Planning Pages are playing today . Permission granted in October ,work should start before the end of 3 years ,starting from Oct .
  18. Looks like PP granted . But Southwarks endlessly infuriating planning pages with their remote exceptions and errors are keeping any other detail to themselves .
  19. What a traumatic time for your friend ,I do hope that car is sorted and that she's back home now . I once managed to get my car straddled between two roads of greatly differing heights .And then had to walk to local bar and explain by sign language ( rural hillside village in Spain ) .The inhabitants all turned out and physically manhandled car back onto the road . Excruciating . How did your friends car end up in such a position ?
  20. Just to try and be clear ,when I said "packs" I meant the large groups made up of individual cyclists who are unrelated to eachother which form at traffic lights . Not bike trains or other organised groups which I agree are courteous and careful of others .
  21. edhistory - I believe this ?Obligations and rights contained within the EU Protocol on animal sentience set out in Article 13 of Title II of the Lisbon Treaty shall be recognised and available in domestic law on and after exit day, and shall be enforced and followed accordingly.??(Caroline Lucas.) This new clause seeks to transfer the EU Protocol on animal sentience set out in Article 13 of Title II of the Lisbon Treaty into UK law, so that animals continue to be recognised as sentient beings under domestic law. is the ammendment that was proposed and voted against https://www.theyworkforyou.com/debates/?id=2017-11-15b.475.0 https://publications.parliament.uk/pa/bills/cbill/2017-2019/0005/amend/euwithdrawal_rm_cwh_1110.15-21.html
  22. Wulfhound I've cycled for over 60 years ,all but a handful of those in London .Those early rides as one of 5 children following my dad through the Rotherhithe tunnel weren't highlights . What has put me off for the last 10 years is the number of other cyclists on the roads . I find them much more unpredictable than motor vehicles with a wide range of speed and skill .And of course they approach and pass silently . The packs that gather at junctions and lights I find particularly intimidating . Oh and the physical lengths one has to go to secure a bike where you live .Means I now walk shorter journeys where in the past I would have you used my bike . It saddens me
  23. You need one of these !
