  1. Well I think we've knocked that one on the head Boab . Better save ourselves for the Scottish vote tonight .
  2. I can see us both pacing the streets with a stop watch soon ! But I think for accuracies sake you need to be pushing a push chair and have a three year old in tow -) . Slow day like mine boab ?
  3. Quite a big detour actually . Especially if the junction of Tyrell and Barry Rd is not your end destination . I think you shouldn't be posting in such detail - 50 yards etc - if you're not sure where roads are . And I wasn't asking for magic crossings everywhere . Just saying that I could understand why someone attempting to cross Barry Rd near the junction with Peckham Rye might prefer a zebra in the vicinty as opposed to the island crossing . Particularly if mobility limited or with children .
  4. Yes ,Clockhouse end is my understanding as well . So if you got off bus at stop by pizza place/barbers and wanted to go down Tyrell Rd ,where would you cross ?
  5. Tyrell Rd and beyond ?
  6. Mmm ,let's think . If you got off the bus at the stop by Roy Brookes and wanted to cross safely over Barry Rd to the Clock House side you'd walk up the road to the zebra at Barrys shop and the down the road again to the Clock House . Or... get off bus a stop earlier ,cross by The Gardens and walk up to The Clock House . Neither route 50 yards in my book . Or ...wait for a break in the traffic ,watching for traffic turning both right and left into Barry Rd ,dash across to the middle ,hover with your push chair and child/ren in the middle of the road and repeat . The latter is doable and probably the method most people employ . But I can see why people would prefer a zebra to cross this part of Barry Rd . The island in the middle of the road is a bit of a giveaway to how busy this part of Barry Rd is .
  7. The crossing near the cafe and Barrys is a little way from the bottom of Barry Rd ,especially with children in tow . I can see that people may well see the need for a crossing more or less opposite the Clock House .
  8. No news on double yellow lines over dropped kerbgate ?
  9. We have students opposte us . No noise disturbance . No banners but one Sunday morning we were once treated to the site of a young man clad only in underpants dressing on the forecourt ,boots thrown out window after him .
  10. Emergency access is thought ,by Southwark planners ,to be less of an issue if only one or two properties are involved . Providing new fire hydrants is one of the ways in which the need for fire engine access has been overcome in some planning applications which have access less than the 3.1m requirement .
  11. Thanks Rob for taking time to post . Confirms what I suspected .
  12. " Hi James. Have you any idea how we fight this new rule on dropped kurbs? Thanks. " what LS1234 said .
  13. But it's no good cramming housing into every available inch and creating substandard squashed housing . And this particular planning application looks very squashed with the access running immediately across several windows in the neighbours house . Some garden plots might be suitable but this doesn't look like one . And the OP was only asking for thoughts ,no mention of not wanting it .
  14. Kerbs or not - who should I contact at Southwark to get this issue of double yellow lines over neighbouring properties clarified ? Obviously you're having no success ,maybe I could get an answer out of the powers that be .
  15. Any progress on clarifying the issue of yellow lines over new dropped cubs ?
  16. -) http://www.southwark.gov.uk/info/200176/streetleaders
  17. I would think a little cape with piping ! I've no idea ,I didn't accept !
  18. Oh I did plenty of moaning and contacting councillors . Took photos and accompanied Southwark officers on Visual Audits who also took photos . Was asked to become a street leader . Some action was taken - paladins no longer left on street for example . But the pavement surfaces remain a mess - I am told through lack of funds .
  19. Pavements in SE22 ? Why are they in SO much better condition to those in and around Rye Lane ?
  20. Do you really need a name to confirm or deny this alleged new policy ? I don't always catch someone's name or forget to ask . I would think the person LS1234 spoke to has made a mistake . But this such an important issue ,surely the focus should be on clarifying it ,not identifying one individual . Surely someone at Southwark can be found who can say " Yes it's the policy to require yellow double lines across and extending 2 metres to either side over all new crossovers allowing access for householders to park on their forecourt ." Or no it isn't .
  21. I always use the dry cleaning shop at the top of Rye Lane ,near Nigel Rd bus stop ,just before Lerryns ,near Sternhall Lane . Or the dry cleaning shop at The Plough/Dulwich Library also does repairs .
  22. Well I guess it wouldn't need to be 25 degrees . Could they do something clever with alternative energy ? Ground heat source pumps ? Solar ? Mirrors ? Tin foil ? Bubble wrap ? Pedal power from offenders ( wearing blindfolds ) ? And think of the benefit and NHS savings to improved physical and mental health of users ?
  23. Hi - we've been discussing ( on JB's thread ) what I'm sure must be a misunderstanding about Southwark requiring double yellow lines to extend 2 metres either side of any new dropped curbs . eg " LS1234 August 27, 06:13PM I have been told very clearly by Southwark that all new residential dropped curbs will have yellow lines to 2m either side of the dropped curb unless there is an exceptional reason. It is a new rule that has come into force this year to give cars on the road clearer visibility of cars coming off driveways, it does not apply to current dropped curbs. I was also told that existing dropped curbs that are being redone will most likely not be white lined again in the future." Are you able to clarify the position ?
