  1. Recommending Billy Hunter Posted by NigelC Today, 01:49PM Billy Hunter and his brother Scott recently replaced our boiler and all our radiators, and they were totally superb. They took us through every step of the process from boiler selection to radiator styles and accessories, and got great deals on everything. The installation went flawlessly, on schedule and a very clean, neat high quality job. The guys themselves are reliable, on-time, polite and really took care about the small things that make a big visual difference too. I would definitely recommend them very highly.
  2. Hi, To all of those who have tried to contact me in the last couple of days apologies for the slow response. My wife and I are expecting our second child any moment so I've been back and forth to the hospital the last couple of days. She is being induced tomorrow so I won't be able to take calls for the next few days at least. Please feel free to leave a voicemail or email me and I'll get back to you at my earliest convenience. Many thanks, Billy Hunter Hunter Heating Solutions
  3. Hi, I had a voicemail left on my landline from a Maria, unfortunately there were only 10 digits left for your phone number. Please feel free to call again next week and we can go from there. Kind regards, Billy Hunter Hunter Heating Solutions
  4. Hi Laura, Its Billy (guy who installed your boiler a couple of months back). Try Jason Hart on 07880566400. Hope all is well. Billy
  5. Hi, Looking at what you have described my convert to combis usually come in at between ?3000-?4000 inc VAT depending on a few things like gas supply ugrade, replacing radiator valves, etc. I would be happy to give you a quote. Please see link for some of my previous reviews on here. http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?30,1321936,1666230#msg-1666230 Kind regards, Billy Hunter Hunter Heating Solutions
  6. Hi Jennifer, I would also be happy to quote although I'm afraid the 3k estimate is a little unrealistic if planning to use a decent branded boiler and radiators. I have many reviews on here and I am also a member of Checkatrade. http://www.checkatrade.com/HunterHeatingSolutions/Gallery.aspx Regards, Billy Hunter Hunter Heating Solutions 07986296453
  7. Can anyone recommend an elecrician who will be interested in weeky boiler/central heating wire ups around the Dulwich area? My usual electrician has recently taken on some guys so is now a little too busy to help me on a regular basis. Have to have Part P etc and a touch of OCD in the way they work! I will need to see some pictures of your heating wireups before I use you. [email protected] or 07986296453
  8. Try Steve Davis 07949593294. I know hes always pretty booked up (good sign) but will always do a great job.
  9. Hi, contact your local council and they will be able to give you a list of local samplers in your area. Don't panic though asbestos is only dangerous if disturbed!
  10. I just want to recommend the band who played at our wedding recently. They done an amazing job and have a great range of music for every taste. http://www.thehares.co.uk/
  11. Recently got married at the end of May and can't recommend Lorna Elizabeth enough. Lovely lady and is so accomodating to your needs. Hardly even noticed she was there during the key moments! http://www.lorna-elizabeth.co.uk/
  12. Just to let everyone know my landline number has been lost in a black hole according to sky so my new number is now 01883 674 875. Billy.
  13. An unvented system will only give you a better flow rate if you have a good incoming mains flow rate (ideally a minimum of 20 litres a minute). If you have above 10 litres a minute coming in there is no reason why you wouldn't get a sufficient shower although all combis are only one tap operational. If you installed an unvented system and all of the existing hot and colds are only 15mm diameter then it wouldn't work properly anyway as you should upgrade the hot and colds everywhere and separately to a minimum of 22mm. Most of the unvented conversions I price up (including a new boiler and controls) are between ?6500-?10000 depending on how much pipework needs to be upgraded... A much cheaper option may be to upgrade your incoming mains supply from the street to 32mm poly pipe. You don't have to dig a 750mm trench anymore I know someone who can dig two holes and mole the pipe to inside the property (normally averages out at half the price Thames water charge) I would measure your incoming mains flow rate first though..... If you have an outside tap open into a bucket fully for 30 seconds, measure how many litres you get and times by 2 to give you your flow rate per minute. Kind of hard explaining all of this with text but feel free to call me tomorrow if you need me to explain anything further. FYI unvented cylinders are ultra efficient! Regards and good luck! 16. If there is a thermostatic valve fitted it is almost certainly the problem. Depending on the brand of the thermostatic valve most of the heads unscrew (chrome ring just below the plastic part of the head). Take head off and see if the sound stops, if the pin is stuck in the original position the noise will continue. You can sometimes free the pin up just by hitting the brass angled part of the valve with a pair of grips. I wouldn't recommend you pulling the pin out yourself manually as some pull right out and you'll get wet! Hope that sorts the situation! Billy
  17. Hi have you checked the reset hasn't popped out? TURN SPUR OFF BEFORE TOUCHING NUT FOR IMMERSION CAP. Unscrew bolt/screw and cap will come off, There should be a reset button (usually red) just push it with a small screwdriver. Replace cap and test. Hopefully that does the trick! 18. Hi Dr De Soto, I get asked this question a lot! Both have their pros and cons.... Advantages of keeping the hw cylinder and tanks.... -No pressure loss with multiple tap/shower operation -If boiler breaks down you have the option of immersion backup for hot water Cons -Tanks take up a lot of room -Unless you introduce shower pumps (pricey and don't always last that long) pressure is never going to be great for showering -Have to heat cylinder capacity for hot water....You may not use it all -Unless you seal the heating system open systems are more susceptible to forming 'sludge' in the system Pros of a combi -You only pay for what you use (hot water) -If you have good water pressure on your incoming main you can have a powerful shower without the need for pumps -Get rid of hw tank, cold water tank and F&E tank Cons for a combi -Only one tap operation so if you are having a shower and someone opens a tap it will affect your shower -If you remove hot water cylinder you lose your airing cupboard for drying clothes etc. (Although there are options like putting a small rad in there or a dual towel warmer so you can use during the summer also) -If the boiler breaks down you have no heating or hot water Bottom line is if your water pressure from the main is poor a combi may not be the best choice. If you have poor water pressure you can usually enhance this by running a new incoming main from the outside stopcock (recommend 32mm minimum)to inside the property. I personally think unvented hot water cylinders are usually the best on the market for delivering efficiency and a powerful equal flow between hot and colds so you can use multiple taps and still achieve equal pressures (provided you have a good water flow rate and its been done properly!) You still get rid of the tanks in the loft but you just have a boiler and a cylinder (your existing boiler would still be compatible with this). Think I've waffled on enough!! If you have any further questions please don't hesitate to contact me on 07986296453. Good luck with the extension! Kind regards, Billy Hunter Hunter Heating Solutions.
