  1. Hi Amy, yes you need waterproof covers - if you don't have suitable ones give me a shout as I have lots and can lend you some. You either need snug fitting Velcro wraps to hold the Muslins on, or Nippas to fasten muslins with looser popper fastening wraps. Molly x
  2. I LOVE Big & Small, it makes me laugh so much every time. Molly
  3. I know, it is one of those things that just stays with you. My eldest did it once (after above had happened already), so I totally freaked out at her as a result, and she never ever did it again. Felt bad about it later of course, but if it shocked her into understanding how important being properly strapped in is I guess it wasn't the end of the world. Makes me shudder to think that I used to sleep on the rear parcel shelf as a child whilst my parents drove down from the Midlands to Cornwall every summer, with brother and sister on the rear seat doing the same. Yikes. Molly
  4. I know of a child that ended up paralysed from the waist down because he got shoulder straps off and in an accident therefore upper body was thrown forward. Totally agree with above posts, better to have two clips to deal with in an emergency than this worry all the time. Really hope you are able to find a solution, some habidashers sell those plastic clips so I wonder if you could create your own chest strap at a push? I imagine it would only be needed for a while, it is breaking the habit as much as anything. Molly
  5. I think this is a great idea. My Mum often house sits for my friends now as a way of visiting me without us all being squashed in here. Hope you find somewhere....we don't tend to go away at Christmas any more I'm afraid. Actually, I wonder if you may do better posting in the 'wanted' bit as maybe those of us with kids are more prone to stay home for Christmas....I know for us the travelling/packing car with presents plus kids paraphenelia just got all too much. Good luck! Molly
  6. Hi, I would second using folded muslin squares for now, not worth investing in tiny nappies really as they grow so fast, unless you get them before baby arrives (maybe next time as by then you will know for sure that cloth nappies are for you) :-) I would normally lend you my newborn kit, but it's about to go to a friend who's 2nd baby is due very soon, really sorry. There is lots of info and links to You Tube videos on the Nappy Lady site re muslin options, give me a shout if you can't find them. Congrats on your baby girl, she sounds lovely! Molly x
  7. Don't think anyone did anything to suggest your post is out of order, or to discourage you from coming to the family room. I'm sure I have seen the odd post from you in here before and hope we will continue to do so. Molly
  8. Narnia, I really don't understand why you are cross about this. Like others I thought your OP was spot on, read it but didn't comment as had nothing to add. If you would like a general debate on this subject I'm sure many will be happy to contribute, but that didn't seem to be what your initial post was about. I'm sure most took it this way, hence the surprise/reactions to you subsequent post. I think it is unfair to imply people think other subjects are more important when in actual fact your post was clearly treated with great respect and not criticised by anyone. Hope you feel better for having a little dig though. Molly
  9. My 2 went to London Zoo on Thursday with their Godmother and had a wonderful time. Loads to do, including some sort of child splash pool so worth taking a towel if it's a warm day and you want to avoid having to buy one in the gift shop, no doubt for a silly price. They also had a badge making (& other stuff) activity room. They were there 10.30 til 6! Molly
  10. It was fab, can't believe we didn't spot you Gubodge. Thanks F. Xx
  11. Me too, actually thought pretty much exactly what Gubodge said - what do you expect us to say, other than well done for possibly bringing it to the relevant parents attention?
  12. Forgot to say, we also use UV suits in Spain as it is so intense in August but tend to cover fully in cream any way to be safe as they often start or end the day out of the suits. Jo Jo do some nice ones that are more cotton rather than nylon'ey' (not a word, but you know what I mean) which I prefer. I think 9months to 2 is hardest as mobile but tricky to get them to keep hats on, submit to cream going on etc but it does get easier as they get older (gosh, if I had a pound for every time I have said that!). Molly x
  13. My eldest would react to the mainstream suncreams but is fine with Lavera which Health Matters sell, or the Australian one sold more widely - is it called sunsense or something? It has a pink or orange map of Australia on a White bottle. I find the latter easier to apply as not so thick, and they even did a roll on which my 5 year old liked. In the uk I find one good application first thing is enough unless in water a lot, in Spain we do 3 applications over the course of the day. I look back to my childhood, all day outside, no suncreams ever and shudder. Amazed my skin isn't more damaged, but can't help wondering how much better it would look if only .....
  14. This is really interesting stuff - thank you SBryan for contributing. I now realise how mega lucky I was with my first, who despite being born with her hand up by her head left me with just a tiny cut too small to even stitch, and second time I didn't tear at all. My question is, do you think perineal massage makes a big difference? My Mum swore by it, and I was religious about rubbing oil in down there during the last trimester. Also, do you think things like the Mamasure (if you have heard of it) help with pelvic floor strength later? This for me has been the worst 'hangover' of two fab natural births. Fine normally but heaven forbid I get a bad cough, so depressing. Edited to add, my heart goes out to those who have to deal with tears and cuts post birth, it must be so hard. Xx Molly
  15. Tee Hee Pickle, that is so funny. I'm glad he is taken with her, will have to tell her what he thinks her name is, will make her giggle! Molly x:))
  16. What a lovely afternoon, hope we have many more this summer. Lovely to see you all. Molly x
  17. Not sure exactly but cycling over I think, probably from about 1pm. Hubby now coming too so may have to divide myself between Gorky gossip and doting wifely duties LOL!!! Really pleased people can make it, soooo lovely to see warmer weather at last. Molly x
  18. Fab, the more the merrier I say. I'm flexible on time too, so if others want to meet sooner just say. Picnic area good for me. M x
  19. Hi there, Saw something on TV recently where a girl was still in a lot of pain following an episiotomy and the doctors prescribed some sort of cream with oestrogen in it which seemed to help massively after just a few weeks of use. I'm sorry I can't remember more about it, but this may be worth mentioning/discussing with a doctor. Molly
  20. Anyone fancy it? Peckham Rye best for me if possible. Will have 18 month old and 5 year old (who always complains if it is 'only babies' to play with!). Shall we 'tie a yellow ribbon to our old bug-gies' so we recognise each other (any colour will do really of course!!). Baby normally sleeps over lunch time, but happy to let her do that in the buggy rather than miss another day like this! Molly
  21. We have a Vaude. It's very good, has a rain and sun cover that fits on, and a stand that flips out. I've carried our daughter in it on long walks in Derbyshire until she got to about 2.5 - when the final walk (5 hours mind you) almost had me on my knees by the end! With our 18 month old, I don't even notice she is in it, and she's gone in it happily from about 9 months old I think (hard to remember exactly, and we only use it for 'proper' walks IYKWIM). Molly x Edited to say.... Actually, just found the photo (attached) and she was exactly 3 years old on the final walk...you can see the carrier quite well in it....
  22. Rest of this week busy but maybe next week?? Molly
  23. Excellent.....or do you want to come to me? C asleep til 2, call if u want 07977 130318 M x
  24. Thanks.....tricky as they are almost 6 and 18 months so running around stuff works best for both of them. Hoping weather stays good it was quite warm this morning. Pickle are you about? I know you are back but living in very small space..... Molly
  25. Both my own and a friends five year old have had bad growing pains recently, I think there is something in it. Molly
