oh and by the way Benjiminty... I always thought El Vergel was Brazilian food... guess I must be wrong!!! xxCC
-
wow... El Vergel... it's still there... I love that place... I used to rent a studio just round the corner in Southwark Bridge Road... they had this amazing steak thing with a salsa sauce/chopped arrangement (can't remember what was in it... onions and sugar/lime juice and fresh herbs and stuff) that was the most tasty thing you ever did try .... total YUM...I'd forgotten about all about... it used to only be open in the day time though... any change to this Benjaminty???

is it better to leave the heating on low???
charliecharlie replied to charliecharlie's topic in The Lounge
so... now think I will leave it on all day v low, then turn the thermostats on the rads back up when I get home so that it does not take such a 'boiler push' to get it warm again in the evening... and hope that the over all use of energy may be the same or less... would like to be warm but am equally concerned about energy consumption (not for me but for the planet Huguenot!!!) http://www.canada-photos.com/data/media/12/icebergs_146.jpg me waiting for the kettle to boil... -
is it better to leave the heating on low???

some REALLY good advice hear... in the short term I am going to 1. have the timer come on a bit earlier in the morning and then come on at 4.00 instead of 6.30 (thanks intexasatthe moment) then, if that's no better, I'll try 2. leaving it on low til SUMMER... bloody hell I'm cold... http://friendsofthewestendparkatl.files.wordpress.com/2009/05/ice-cubes.jpg 3. then I am going to see if I can do any further insulating projects I can do for next year (when we will, no doubt, have a winter that is the hottest on record!!) -

is it better to leave the heating on low???

have added double gazing front and back and have a well insulated loft... the house has always been cosy, but somehow this winter (since adding double glazing all the front window) is seems really had to keep the place warm... I'm wondering if it is more effective energy wise to keep the heating on low, rather that let the building temp drop so low during the day and night when heating's off... -

no no giggirl... that's my bedroom and this is my bathroom http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_Xq7E_pMxnCI/SXO0nD0iGcI/AAAAAAAADdQ/S80of1vKKuk/s800/2+Hoar-Frost-on-Grate-M.jpg -
my heating is on a timer... comes on for an hour in the morning and then back on at 7.0opm till bedtime... during this cold spell... when I am in in the evening it takes most of the evening for the house to warm up again... Is it more eco/energy efficient to leave the heating on low all through the day even if you are out at work??? http://www.guyedwardes.com/images/nature/fullsize/Icicles,_Slovenia_fs.jpg xx form chilly charlie

I haven't lived in Fulham or Clapham (nor would I wish to) nor have I lived in Mile End or Guadaloupe for that matter (the later somehow seems rather appealing at the minute) http://beach-list.com/guad/th1024page_stanne2x.jpg

my sister gave me a present .... looked very hopeful, beautiful wrapping and a note that said "just to let you know I love you".... hhhmmm... thought, this could be a good one... inside... three candles, the sort someone might by for the bosses secretary in last minute desperation for something to wrap... so anonomous that you could give it to a stranger... nothing wrong with the candles themselves but.... if it's the thought that counts???? maybe the just the note would have been better!!
