  1. Jojobaby. No one asked your opinion on home births, this is not a debate someone is asking for advice. You do not know this person and your point of view is irrelevant. Why even read this thread? Duchessofdulwich, yes, I'd test the pool out for the reasons others have stated, good to know the hose etc work. My midwives & husband ended up taking buckets of water out & keeping the temp consistent as I was in mine a long while so good to have buckets etc prepared too. I actually left mine blown up so it just had to filled up on the day. Good luck, my home birth was great, I wouldn't have had it any other way & am planning no 2 the same way, I was in the pool for hours as it was so good! I hope it all goes well for you X
  2. This actually made me laugh out loud "Me too. In fact, I'm doing it now. The older generation call it 'making a rod for your own back'. I call it 'the only way to watch trash telly in peace'. " I fed my son just before putting him to bed until we gave up bfeeding at 14months, sometimes he went to sleep and others he didn't. Also if he woke in the night ill or teething I'd more often than not feed him back to sleep as it was very quick! he is now 16m and get's annoyed with me if I try to get him out of his cot to give him calpol & a cuddle when he is teething! And there is no way in hell he would fall asleep on me now
  3. Easy jet let you on before normal boarding after speedy so no need to pay. Put Bess on the seat in the middle of you & they should save you the space unless the flight is full. Ryanair a nightmare!
  4. thanks sanity girl they are next on the list
  5. Hi, So liner trial The little lamb viscous ones are lovely and very soft but they are very short so i ended up using two which was a waste and then they didn't catch that much anyway. The Junior Joy were just like that loo roll you got at school, like tracing paper and as such I feel too mean using them so we will use them for something else! The softy ones are lovely and soft and actually are longer than the viscous ones (although still a little short) and are good at catching, we are having significantly less scraping episodes since using them although i'm not convinced they are the best out there....
  6. There is nothing about home birth or birth centres... Always good to have a balanced view?
  7. Yes Dulwich college is uv & jags too although they do still use some chlorine- you can smell it in your hair afterwards but it's a lot less than a public pool
  8. BC bikes are able to fix them, I've had a chat to the guys in there about mine, they fix a lot apparently! They were saying though that Buguaboo will try and sell you a whole new chassis if you try and get it fixed through them...
  9. Ok, I've just ordered a roll of the junior joy, the softy and the little lamb viscose liners and I'll give them all a go and see. I really don't want to do fleace liners just because, I feel I 'deal' with enough poo as it is and having to sluce out a liner is too much.... I'm ok with paper for now !-) I also wash my nappies with other things and don't want too much poo on liners etc Thaks for all the advice though everyone.... and if none of these three work I'll track down the bambino mio ones!
  10. What's elimination communication? Ok Alie let us know how you get on and yes Yak can I get a few liners off you when I see you Fri if you have spare? or next week...
  11. Thanks Alie, I'll try all these things next time, and yes I agree with the Ultra liners that even when they don't scrunch they just aren't wide enough to catch it all. If I buy a roll of the bigger ones Molly suggested do you want to try some?
  12. Hi Alie, Argh, no, combination of very bad nappy rash so lots of time in disposables and a bit of a confusing message from Wendy ment I hadn't got anywhere.... Wendy said that the ones I'm using, the ultra liners are the best & shouldn't scrunch up but I think Molly's point that they need to be wider is valid... there is a liner tester kit to try on the nappy lady website or the ones that Molly suggested are on there too. I need to do something though as, yes the elastic bits are the worst hey! urgh
  13. I'm not being funny Jenny, but I've seen Bess' thighs..... that girl is a GOOD eater! just give her some food and if she doesn't eat much that's OK... she has reserves! she will soon start eating how much she needs without you feeding her
  14. Hi, My son had croup last night. This is his third episode, the first of which we went to A&E after calling NHS direct as he had real trouble breathing and they gave him steriods then. The other two occations it hasn't been so bad, last night for example he was coughing (barking like a seal) and it woke us up. I promptly went into his room and closed the window and got the vapouriser on with some oil burning in it. As long as they are OK breathing etc then it is best treated at home I'd say (we waited hours in a&e and he would have been better off at home resting) The steam does help, we got a vapouriser and I think they are great, I had croup a lot as a kid and it is one of those things that you are prone to so I'd say a vapouriser is a good purchase.. It is always better in the day / worse at night so just take care and try to keep them warm, it's always passed very quickly for us, within a day or two. Hopefully he will be better soon
  15. Thanks so much everyone I really apprecaite your thoughts
  16. Ok Parents, who have you found to make the best babygrows for fit and quality for your babies? (not prints/ colours but actually how they wear??) I've tried a lot and want your opinions! Thanks so much
  17. Thanks everyone for your replies sorry for late response I was away.
  18. Thanks all, Re the fleece ones what do you do with the poo? Other than scrape it off?? Which I don't really want to do. Molly, I went against your advice & I actually use all in ones so there is no wrap... But perhaps the bigger size liner is ok anyway as I can then just tuck back in at the legs?
  19. Hey so my 14 m old is in washable nappies & has fairly loose stools (sorry tmi but it is a nappy thread!) and more often than not the liner just isn't sufficient at 'catching' it all, the poo tends to squidge over the sides & onto the nappy itself by the legs so I end up scraping it off which is utterly revolting. I currently use the ultra liners that the nappy lady sells but does anyone have any reccomendations for liners that are better at dealing with loose poos???? Perhaps something more flexible so they don't scrunch up? He is very active so the liners do scrunch up Any advice gratefully received
  20. CSM does a foundation too as to Chelsea I believe, although Chelsea are more fine art from what I remember. I did both my foundation & degree (product design & development for fashion industry) at LCF so very fashion but I'd rate the university of arts, I think CSM were more product designy than the other collages (??)
  21. i had a water birth at home and loved it buy a pool and sell it on the forum afterwards whether you use it or not... or better still get your partner to do this... personally poor mr f had to deal with the aftermath in our house and he has stored it away in the loft for no 2... it's only fair after you have gone through labour Pebbles, I love the idea of watching tv in it!! very funny.... wish i'd thought of that too!
  22. yak, you going to garantee sunshine so the boys can run around with bare bums all day! I wanna tan!! Thanks everyone for the suggestions... keep them coming!
  23. Ok, I have a big wishlist but I thought I'd put it out there and see if anyone else had been anywhere similar... We want somewhere hot in Europe, we can go anytime this summer ie not in school holidays but somewhere like the algarve or south of france, spain etc..... not too fussed about which country. Needs to be self catering. Needs to have some sort of garden - with grass so the baby can run around Preferably a pool OR super close to the beach we need 2 bedrooms Can't be expensive.... I've just quit my job and have no income! That's it really... hot and with a garden! thanks for any suggestions
