  1. molly it's crumpet Trip there soon Jenny?
  2. ohhh good luck Pickle! Very exciting, I can't believe you are going to have another one so soon! I used it in the bath then massaged it onto my huge and very late bump.... of course I was late, 13 days.... so I tried everything apart from castor oil so who knows if it had any effect at all!
  3. I use the flexitots I think, tots bots all in ones and they are great. I also have the two parters which are more bulky but also brilliant... I have tried other brands but they didn't work for us... try and get a few 2nd hand and try then before you buy in bulk also agree nappy lady is great website
  4. hot milk are v comfortable
  5. if you are close by then go to boshendal vinyard for a picnic, you need to book in advance but its a stunning setting and would be great for the little ones to run around whilst you drink wine !-) we went without kids and it was without a doubt the best holiday we have ever been on.... I'm very jealous of you going
  6. Thanks so much for all the suggestions I think it has coincided with the change in temp which is again why I'm not overly worried but didn't know where to start with creams etc Thank you all
  7. Hiya, my 8mo has suddenly developed dry skin in patches on his back & tummy. It doesn't look like exema to me but is a little redder than the rest of his skin. I'm not that concerned at the min to take him to the docs & wanted to try creams 1st... Can anyone reccomend a good moisturiser and or bath oil?? Thanks
  8. The Sunday sessions get very booked so best to book by fri the week day sessions I always turn up 30 mins or so before just to make sure It's a lovely pool I always take a towel for the little one as it gets chilly going between pool & changing rooms.
  9. Pickle that's shocking.... I'm actually speechless that a professional can be offering that 'advice'.
  10. what I find truly sad here is that anyone can be made to feel like they have 'failed' during birth.... surely there is nothing to fail about birth, it isn't a test.
  11. sorry my point there was that I'd argue that actually my baby has/will cry less than a baby who doesn't go through some type of sleep 'training' (for want of a better word)
  12. "We'd all love our babes to fall peacefully asleep with a smile on their little faces after just one round of kiss and cuddle night-night, and to stay that way all night" this is what my baby does! not when ill or teething etc but generally he now NEVER cries going to bed and if he stirrs then he sometimes chats a little and goes back to sleep. He has not come to any harm from our CIO methods and it took one night to work.... It certainally wasn't easy to do but I'm pleased we did it. whatever you do be comfortable in it and don't judge others for their choices.
  13. The French calculate pregnancy beginning two weeks after your last period... & have slightly later full tearm dates to compensate
  14. Sorry to the op for not offering advice but don't like this mummy superiority... We all just do what we feel best to get through
  15. I left my 3 month old baby to cry it out & it took upto an hour at a time. Horrid yes but he now goes to sleep without a wimper & only wakes at night if there is something wrong Evil but well rested mother here !-) I think if you ask your grandmothers what they did they will say they left their children to cry... Mine says it was the most valuable advice she was ever given.... And in many ways I agree. As a good forumite friend said to me in the early days 'no baby ever died of crying' Don't hate me for it, we are all different & I would never frown upon you for having a 7 month old baby who wakes at night because you co sleep
  16. I'd reccomend too, without going into too much detail it did the job!
  17. I believe the rates for home births in the uk are well under 1% no?? So really most people do go for a more medicalised environment. It probably seems higher in ED due to the demographic / proximity to kings / volume of community midwives etc... Having had a very positive one I can see why people encourage / evangelise about them but it has to be right for you & you should be no / low risk clearly. Seeing as the study has proved that midwife led units are the safest place to have your 1st baby I do hope that this encourages more funding their way as they seem like a fantastic idea.
  18. firstly "Also the comment that this pulls midwives away from hospitals is one to bear in mind" I'm not certain but I'd imagine that most of the midwives that deliver home births are community midwives and therefore not set up in a hospital environment and therefore are not being pulled away but actually doing their jobs where they should be, in the community. I'd also argue that having two midwives at a home birth is a much better use of resources than having a hospital birth and all of those doctors etc..... I would not ever dream of scolding people for their choice of birth.... I have quite strong views on the recent NICE guidelines saying women with no medical need should be able to choose a c section but I wouldn't dream of telling someone how unsafe (or a waste of resources) I thought that was... We are very luck to have a choice, and as long as we are all informed and educated about real risks then we can make our own decisions surely?
  19. we have had great sucess with our polarn or pyret slippers.... http://polarnopyret.co.uk/polarn-o-pyret-moccasin which help aid the crawling / standing due to the suede sole I'm sure you wouldn't but don't put anything too structured on his feet as his bones are still very soft and easily damaged with incorrect footwear... I don't think there are any socks that will stay on with grabby hands that like a little fabric to suck on!

  21. Baby f is a lot younger but had a phase a few weeks ago at the end of an illness where he refused food for a week or so... No spoon food at all some days & perhaps an angry bite on his finger food... Before total meltdown. I also found offering food whilst he was playing etc a good strategy for relaxed eating. I got very stressed as he is usually a v good eater but in the end when he was feeling better he started eating more again, from one day to the next so they do get over it. It's very hard not to get stressed at the time tho, I sympathise :-(
  22. Topshop for me, my maternity leggings are the best leggings I own! Far better than American apparel which went all baggy & the colour faded very quickly :-(
  23. Hi I was sick all through my labour, ended up on anti nausia drugs & a drip (hooked upto my radiator as home birth!) Had diarrhoea right at the start too.... Was seriously nothing left by the time the baby arrived!! Good luck
  24. oh no, baby f has just learnt to do this too... he hasn't done it in the cot (yet) though.... more fun and games... although he is on the bottom due to pulling himself upto standing.... which agian he isn't practicing in the cot yet... I'm fearfull.... !
  25. Thanks everyone, I don't think it's teeth, we have just had two through and I don't think there are any more on the way (but I could be wrong... I didn't know he was teething last time either!) I think this morning it was a mixture between tiredness & still feeling ill... as lunch was much more sucessful and actually he ate some shop puree stuff from a spoon and some apple (of course!) But generally, the spoon is a no no and finger foods make him angry after a few minutes I do usually give him finger foods whilst I potter about in the kitchen getting more food for him to eat so there isn't that pressure and I generally eat myself even if it's only a snack so he copies / understands that is what we are doing... I'm not really worried about him but it's annoying... and he is loosing his chub! nooooo! BB, funilly enough C refused his 11am feed this am... 1st time to refuse the boob EVER!
