  1. Been away so missed this thread. I have two points. 1. To the original poster: FFS - you live near a football ground. 2. James Barber at it AGAIN. Trying to find "problems" to fix.... >"This thread has shown this original resident and the other two than have contacted me that they're not being listened to reasonably" No, theyre probably not. Short of instructing the players not to score goals, how on gods earth can a football club be quiet during a game? These people who have contacted JB, will soon turn into "significant numbers of people" in his view. He'll take up this cause with all of his passion (just remember CPZ, Melbourne Grove, Townley Road junction, etc, etc)
  2. >DadOf4, maybe you and I should offer our help ! yes - I'm half temped I run an IT business that has a very significant cusotmer service element. I employ very highly qualified IT people (analogy = doctors) but I wouldn't dream of getting those highly trained people to try and run cusotmer service. I have a cusotmer service manager to do that - he spends his life trying to improve the cusotmer experience and our processes that support that. Where approrpiate, he brings in other skills - none of them are our core IT skiils - they are process skills @alice The fact that the very last thing I do when booking an appointment at FHR is give my name, leads me to beleive that having access to my records is completly irrelevant. Also - on your point that 30% of people would be excluded - hmmmmm - I dont know the figures but I bet theres nowhere near 30% of people without internet access. And, the whole point here, is that efficiencies with the 70 (or whatever) % would mean that the others arent waiting for 30-40 minutes on the phone
  3. NHS crisis/funding ? ageing population ? too many people going to Doctors for trivial things ? Yes, maybe these are all factors. However, from personal experience and based on speaking to some GP's I know - I think that there is a massive range in the "customer service" & efficiency at different doctors surgeries. And IMO this is down purely to how well the administrative side of their business is run (yes, they are businesses) A typical GP surgery has many 1000's of "customers" - customers who, in the 21st century expect to be able to transact quickly, and get service when they want. Some surgeries do that well. Some don?t. With those many 1000's of customers, somewhere like FHR has a handful of Doctors (highly skiiled professionals, but cusotmer service amateurs) and admin staff, struggling to keep their heads above water and probably with no experience in improving processes, etc Lets think about one of those processes FHR has decided to "play" the government targets by differentiating between emergency and non-emergency appointments. The only way to access an emergency appointment is to phone at 8am and get in a queue with everybody else. For the ?hardworking families? that this government like to talk about, this is a really inaccessible system: both me and my wife are either at (or travelling to) work at that time. Their phones are manned by a small number of receptionists, so wait times are completely unacceptable This process is not fit for purpose So, how to fix: 1. Online services I believe FHR have an online booking system (and I believe that some of these systems can even do repeat presecriptions and other interactions) However, when I asked about it at the surgery they scratched their heads and eventually gave me a form to complete (which of course, I lost) They need to heavily promote (or ?near mandate?) the use of this system and make it easily accessible. It should become the default way of getting an appointment. Every online booking is a admin person freed up to deal with other things. I would hope that it would also allow people to do more thorough searches for available appointments and notifications of appointments becoming available 2. Use an out-sourced booking service for phone bookings The ?is it an emergency? question is the only value that a receptionist currently adds to the booking process. Other than that, it?s a simple time slot booking service. And lets face it, the receptionists at FHR are not medical professionals and don?t really add much value I don?t know what percentage of their inbound calls this would take away ? but again I would expect it to be significant. Again , freeing up staff for dealing with more complex enquiries and also meaning that people are not on hold for 30 minutes I?m sure tha theres lots of other areas, but the point is that these guys need to think more like a customer service environment and maybe consider getting in some outside help
  4. it would be interesting to disucss what ED would be like now if had developed the way that the OP hoped
  5. I've actually got the gprahical map of that hanging on my wall - you can buy them at the piture framers on Grove Vale What always amazes me is that Camberwell/Denmark Hill are THE most affluent areas on the map. Makes me look at the Maudsley Hospital buildings in a different way
  6. Its obvously concerning and schools should have a 100% zero tolorence of weapons (or violence generally) But, calm down dears: In the 5 years, I was a school (1980's) in a small country town at a reasonable state school, we had 3 knife incodents and a shooting (ok - it was only a 2.2 air rifle). The difference: there was no hysteria inducing media coverage and people wanting to build bomb-proof shelters for their kids. I, myself, got hauled in front of the headmaster for throwing bangers (the REALLY big ones that I'd got on the french exchange trip) - I think that earnt me a detention and a letter to my parents. Last night I had my mother on the phone asking if little DadOf4 was OK - she'd heard about this in Radio 5 ! My point: lets keep this in perspective. Isolated incident in a really good school. Yes, shocking due to its proximity to us, but isolated all the same no, I'm not condoning (or saying we should be tolerant of) in any way before people start
  7. Yes, I couldn't quite believe it when I saw this last night at about 9pm (attached photo) There must have been over twenty guys and a whole load of plant & machinery. Plus townley/Calton were both closed WTF ?
  8. Is it something I'm missing, or does that report mention nothing about the fact the the junction is now worse for cyclists coming from Greendale ? I cant see any corrective action in thst document that would fix this problem
  9. Was dropping the kids off at swimming last night (about 7pm) and thought I'd stand and watch how the junction "performs" in the evening. I was horrified . Nearly every cyclist coming from Greendale towards Townley was turned across by a car (coming from Townley, turning right) Yes, this used to happen some before , but IMO, the new road markings are making this worse. I know that there was a desire to ban the RH turn from Townley - which would fix this, but I don't think that was ever practical when all aspects were considered At the time many said (me included) - just make it clearer that Greendale is actually a road, maybe improve lighting or re-phase the lights. None of those things have happened. Southwark have spent 250k on making a junction: a) much less safe for cyclists (based on my 10 minute sample) b) that causes worse traffic congestion c) that has buses mounting the pavements every day what a total and utter f*&k up
  10. Got dragged along to Platform one by LBsmith73 on Saturday Amazing. Absolutely stunning food, served by knowledgeable & friendly people I've always been a big fan of places like the Palmerston (and continue to be so) - but IMO, this is a step change in the quality of food on LL. I also love the concept of it being a "permeant pop-up" - hopefully that will bring a new, innovative chef every few months. Of course, it could mean that its hit or miss

People in > East Dulwich prefer football, as do most people. Its exactly that apathetic attitude to the biggest sporting event this country has hosted since the Olympics that annoys me. Yes, more people play & follow football, but maybe, just maybe we should just try to get behind this event, and all it brings, instead of telling people to "go to Putney". We've got 2 international teams training in our area (Australia & Romania both at Dulwich college) and things like this: going on. So, if it means I may need to miss a Crystal palace game in the pub one night, I'm quite happy to do so
  12. is there anywhere local that sells things like HDMI & network cables ? Yes, I know Amazon can get me these *tomorrow*, but I need one of these http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00F6RZZMU?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00 and some Cat5 cables *today*
  13. no time to test properly yet - but the mobile experience is 1000 times better than current

Are you really suprised by this? Clr Barber has got massive form on this, he will not change and IMO is the worst sort of politician. Personal & party agenda over reflecting the views of his voters. For those not around at the time, you can witness exactly the same behavior during his shameless attempt to push controlled parking into the area a couple years back. http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?5,772215,page=46 On this very thread on 24 June, I did warn people: DadOf4 Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > using Google translate from Barberspeak to > English: > > "What we agree last night was to fund a study of > the anticipated impacts of closing the road. 15. Somebody just sent me an email on this .....thought I would share here Highly acclaimed film called ?Death of A Gentleman?. Reviews everywhere are summed up as ?If you care about cricket, watch this film?. ED picturehouse may be showing it,but at least 20 people need to sign up for it to go ahead. It would be at 1:30pm on Sunday 27th. Also, at least one of the directors (Jarrod Kimber) has agreed to do a Q&A as part of the event. Anyway, to sign up, go to: https://www.ourscreen.com/screening/39888
  16. Does anybody know if there's any local shops that sell e-ciggie spares, liquids, etc ?
  17. Its got a clever indoor washing line - hence the 1.2M price tag
  18. from the introduction of the brown bin system (2/3 years ago ?), it was obvious to me that, at some point, southwark would stop providing the bags. They were only providing them to kick start the concept I drew this conclusion after having to use the ridiculous, convoluted & hidden process on their website to order new bags - that was never going to be sustainable I dont actually mind having to buy them - but it frustrates me that this info was not properly communicated.

I posted it here in case there was a pattern of behavior developing with these boys (and according to the police, they saw that immediately) But, you're so outraged by this miscarriage of justice that you decided to go and register immediately on the EDF. You appear a couple of times, casting doubt on the incident and then say that you wont be commenting any more.....hmm So, I think you should take your comments to the police. An incident allegedly happened which, according to you, was a distortion/fabrication. If it did happen like that, I think you owe it to the boys concerned to go and make a statement in their defence (they didnt get arrested, but their details were taken and logged i Guess). You also say that my wife assaulted a young boy - again, pretty serious stuff that you should take to the police If you PM me, I'll happily provide you the crime reference number

But of course, she may have just turned out not to be the woman I've been married to for 15 years, who is a tecaher and has just decided to get into a verbal scrap with some 11 years olds for fun, then pushed them around and gone on to fabricate a story to the police .....because she had nothing better to do. I have to say if I had been there, they may well have been called fing mugs. In terms of descriptions - I'm with others on that - dont think its that appropriate - the police have dealt with this now
  21. thanks for the kind words Yes, she did stand up to them - shes not the sort to just look at her feet and walk away - but was also pretty scared by the level of aggression and tirade of abuse. "what are you f***king looking at, I'm going to rip those sunglasses off your f**ing face you bi***" Also worth noting that there were plenty of people around apparently and nobody thought to walk over and see what was going on or ask her if she was OK. I like to think its because they were so young nobody actually thought they could possibly be threatening her Anyway, the cops turned up to our house after she called 101. They went and found the kids (who turned out to be 12), who of course denied it all, but were interestingly in the process of doing the same to somebody else at the time apparently. The cops took their details and gave them a metaphorical clip round the ear and told them it was time to go home. I think that's a reasonable outcome and it was great to see the police taking things like this seriously.
  22. Mrs Dadof4 just got back from Dulwich park pretty upset. Group of 4 kids (10-11 year olds) being really aggressive, following her, coming out with vocal masterpieces such as "why don't you go and suck some c***, you f**** w*ore" shes called it in to 101, but mainly posting here so others are aware. If anybody else has had a similar experience today , would encourage you also to call it in I think what shocked her most was the age of these kids
