i*Rate The International Stores had a counter service at the back, too. What a shame they closed!

Surely everyone knows we can trust the bun chugging pathological liar about as much as the average ED resident could throw the reptilian ball sucker, but just in case, here's a reminder why not to vote for the cun*

Be vigilant - bogus "guttercleaners" seem to be around
se22cat replied to LynneH's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Had one such dirtbag just now wearing a blue jumpsuit bang on the glass of our door with his key repeatedly, scarpered pretty quickly at my response. -
We used to get milk & juice from the milkman for years then switched to getting them from International (now Co-op) when my mum realized he was regularly trying to overcharge us for his own profit. Never did buy from any of the greengrocers that had stalls on on LL as the thought of produce exposed to traffic pollution is disgusting. The food hygiene practice of the local butchers & fishmongers was also highly questionable in the 80s; they were not halcyon days of value & quality in ED by any stretch.

Sorry to hear you haven't been well, Sue. The absolutely lovely best GP recently returned. IMHO the practice still has so many serious issues and even the one decent locum they have had on and off has no idea if she will ever be offered a contract, let alone another block of bookings. Receptionists, bar the fantastic one that still manages to smile and be wonderful to people remain indifferent and downright rude to people, taking great joy in barking at patients to get behind the line on the floor, supposedly for the privacy of others despite the whole room being able to hear everything anyway. This was a great practice when it's owner dedicated his time to it, but those days are long gone. The admin team have a disgusting lack of regard for patients needs or health, there was one guy who was outwardly standoffish but actually helpful and did his best to aid patients but it seems he had enough and left of got transferred to another site. If you have an issue, concern or complaint it will not be dealt with for months and then nothing will be done about it. While I'm obviously really glad the fantastic doctor has returned, I do wonder for how long, considering the pressure put on them and the toxic environment they work in. She's an absolute treasure and if she moves, so will we.

Hey, no worries, just thought I'd throw the suggestion out there :) Ah, you could kill someone with any one of the books you'd need to learn Fortran! The students and statisticians of today complaining about setting up a study in SPSS know nothing of true pain...Got much respect for you using that. Do look into making a cloud account though - don't forget all hardware dies.

Hi Sue, I'm pretty sure you already know this, but if you look in Firefox's menu, you can create a free account with Mozilla which allows you to store all your bookmarks and settings in the cloud, very useful if you lose your laptop/the rust drive dies/the SSD dies taking it's filetable along with it. Vanilla Chrome is all well and good, but it eats up memory like hell, you could try one of it's forks such as Chromium which is a bit less greedy. Can't beat Firefox for it's extension library though! If your laptop is finding it hard to cope with Window's continuing bloat, maybe consider switching to Linux? Linux Mint, Pop OS and Kubuntu spring to mind as being among the most user friendly. Good for the brain too, learning a new environment and your way around Terminal : )

Better to split hairs, rather than atoms though :) Has anyone managed to get one of the free bags? Haven't seen anything publicized about them

Might have been food poisoning or an involuntary bowel movement. In the case of either, the bloke might simply not have had time to get to a toilet : (

Personally, I love it!

I wonder if any of the revenue from the CPZ will go towards addressing the issues people have raised here in ED? Probably not. Considering the very real negative impact these problems have on disabled residents, with them also quite possibly also making them worse or leading to future injuries, one would hope something could finally be done to address them with the huge amount of extra cash that will be fleeced from council tax paying residents. Is the council also blind to the fact that we are a rapidly ageing society and not making things right now could not only improve people's current quality of life, but also prevent future issues that will otherwise put increased pressure on the NHS too? One of our immediate neighbors became a shut-in during her last years out of genuine fear of falling down outside because of the exact points illustrated in this thread.

Blue graffiti across the middle of Goose Green Park
se22cat replied to joustant's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Saw that this afternoon, utterly pointless and disgusting to see. Goose Green is enjoyed by everyone and it's sad to see this happen and that it will use up money that could have gone elsewhere to clean up. A signpost protesting the surface coating of dog turds on the grass I can understand, and support, but this is just mindless vandalism. -
The pharmacist in Sogim said they plan on moving to a smaller unit over the road.

Some scenes of Danger UXB were filmed on the school that used to be on Archdale Road and there was a pop video a couple of years ago that was filmed in the old 711 shop. Apparently Idris Elba was seen being filmed around here not so long ago :) Great idea for a thread whisteria and lovely find re the Green Cross Code kford.

It really gets my goat when I see people who repeatedly park over the disabled access ramps, most often when they know the parking wardens have gone home, especially those who live on or near the same street as us, who know fully well there are several wheelchair/mobility scooter users living on the same street for who access to them is essential. The pavement, if you can call it that, on Lordship Lane remains an absolute disgrace both for able bodied people, wheelchair users, and for those on crutches. I fail to see how this issue continues to be ignored.

Our road is also a 3, being a stone's throw from LL has it's downsides too :( thank you for posting this, have submitted the form!

Our local police team - Goose Green ward
se22cat replied to bels123's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Maybe we should ask Sgt Kabukiman to join the team? -
They will come! Renowned studio Nikkatsu (born of the post war studio division by the government, interesting story there) who gave birth to the genre of Roman Poruno or "Pink Eiga" had an experiment producing a set of films exploring grotesque horror, super violence and just plain good old dirty fun. The hope was to attract a healthy enough outside audience for them to continue, but, sadly, they were kept to a cult thing due to snooty, unimaginative audiences preferring to be spoon fed Hollywood trash instead of far more fun Japanese fare. I highly recommend getting some friends round and reenacting your very own night at the Scala by holding an all-night viewing of the whole Sushi Typhoon gamut :)

Or maybe a sack of Andrex?
-
Totally agree with Sue, they were a lovely feature, assumed this year there just wasn't enough funding? Goose Green does seem to have less attention paid to it by the council every passing year :(

Cummings from behind eh? Must have brought back Boris' school days.

I wish the admins here would finally start banning trolls like you.
