  1. Try calling a chap called Keith on 07818468095. There will be a charge. He's reasonable though.
  2. a little bit of jest - no reason to misconstrue it.... but local crime is a hot topic in ED
  3. Although I much prefer it to East Dulwich with all the crime and poshness.
  4. well, I think the whole thing about Peckham being top place to live is a test of Newspaper Power - if the newspapers say it, can it become true? Can it convince enough people to buy property in Peckham that it will eventually become the top place to live? Quite a topic at our office lunch today... they obvs wanted the detail from their insider (me!)
  5. That's true, but you wouldn't know unless you spoke to them. The other worry is, if you don't answer they may think you are not home and break in :-( I'd probably call the police - as it's either, or.
  6. Tough one - imagine if that someone really needed help. I would hope that if I needed help at 3am and banged someone's door that they would help. Fortunately I've never been in that situation.
  7. didn't hear or see anything about that. Would have come along. Can someone please tell Southwark Council to invest the money in more community spirited events like this (and notices for it - I'd happily have printed many off!) rather than new lamp posts. What is the method of communications so we don't miss anything else?
  8. is this anything to do with what's going on in Goose Green park today? Looks like somethings being set up
  9. Using an address other than the one you live at is lying basically. Top marks for seeking permission from other parents who live in the area. Does being a 'young parent' excuse you from normal responsibilities? Possibly, if you're 14 or 15.
  10. I remember their Sunday roasts - which was basically a meat feast and quite scary. Hopefully they'll put some decent food on the menu. It's a great location.... perfect stop off on the way back from the park in the summer.
  11. It is a fact that cycle lanes have slowed traffic. Buses are taking longer than ever and less and less people are using them, which means more people are using cars.... It's not a good state of affairs. I think cycling is still too dangerous with no restrictions on heavier traffic / delivery lorries. I can't really see it improving either as there are no plans I'm aware of
  12. thanks RH.I was trying to think of how to say the same thing!
  13. I completely agree with Louisa.
  14. Monday daytimes = at school Monday night = school night
  15. Absolutely. And doing so or not doing so.....coupled with how much profit that company makes....does say an awful lot about the etics of that company.
  16. there are other ways to increase profit than driving down staff costs
  17. that is such a 'management' answer - 'We can't pay you more because we wouldn't be able to make any money and then we won't be able to expand and employ more staff - how selfish of you to not consider the people we cannot afford to employ if we give you a decent salary'.
  18. anyone dealing with the public deserve much respect.
  19. We should ALL be careful about how we spend our money - and buy from companies we support. There's nothing wrong with withdrawing your support from a company at all. In fact it's the only language companies speak - Money/ Profit/ Customers. Look at SportsDirect. Starbucks. etc etc etc. And then look at the choices you make and what they are based on. If it's purely convenience, then it's a bit shallow.
  20. The PH and Peckhamplax are substantially different. The reason we prefer PP is because we like to support our local area and local businesses. It's very clear that they could 'gentrify' but that's actually an ethical decision covering many areas of London and affecting many businesses. The fact that they choose to continue to charge prices that more people and more families can afford over higher prices and more profit will always attract my support. There's more to life than making money and being greedy. It's a pity more businesses do not embrace ethical approaches to their customers. Added to the fact, when we do go - with the kids and their friends in tow, the price differential is huge. There are no issues taking our own snacks and I have never experienced any of the complaints stated above. We go much more often than we would to the PH for that reason, so I wouldn't say they get less business by charging lower prices.
  21. why go to the Picturehouse when we've got Peckham Plex!
  22. Running is definitely the best thing to do. Throw the items they want on the ground - AWAY from you. It will give you a second to run in the opposite direction. And just run. 1) you won't be threatening them 2) chasing after you defeats their purpose (which is to get your items)
  23. We travel frequently to the coast to pick up /drop off my daughter - so some journeys it's just the adults. We're still allowed to travel with the family railcard without my daughter present (obviously we've paid for a return journey with her). The alternative being we buy a single (2 adults one child) and then a return single (2 adults) - which is far more expensive. The conductor on the train told us about it.
  24. change her collar to say - I am allergic to normal cat food - it can make me ill. Please don't feed me.
