  1. I used to like the Jacket Potato place, but that's gone (was my highlight!)
  2. Areas of Clapham are really different - Abbeyville road is families and (very clean) farmers markets whilst the High Street is - well, ok if you don't have kids adn can stay out late!.... Personally, found it rather soulless once I moved from one to the other extreme...
  3. thank you - I'd not seen that but will definately be there !
  4. Thank you Sheila, While that may be a valid point in some respects, I do actually value someone's real experience, rather than starting cold on my own and it would be a headstart. (no comebacks - I promise :-) Jules
  5. yes - it's specific to Southwark (East Dulwich)
  6. I need some support with a sensitive issue and need to know if there is a local councillor i can trust with helping me....
  7. I have rubbish in my front garden, but I attribute it to the pesky foxes (which have at least stopped coming into my kitchen).
  8. It's a group that are raising awareness of the issues and coordinating the public awareness etc. The link to their site is here http://www.savesouthwarkwoods.org.uk/home/4590478832
  9. http://www.savesouthwarkwoods.org.uk/object/4590467108 There are three separate applications and you can use this link to object to them. They have a facebook page too https://www.facebook.com/Save-Southwark-Woods-700671496717263/timeline/
  10. I want a list of cafes that are wifi-free and neighbour-friendly, please!
  11. Everyone has a valid point - but there is little appreciation of that. There is a difference between laptop squatters - which is not restricted to ED - who use cafes are a place of work, making calls and basically moving in and treating it like a temporary office and people who need a break and a change of scene. similarly, parents who go out with their kids - who behave like kids (and not mini adults) and parents who completely ignore their kids and allow their behaviour to go unchecked. We should all be able to tolerate and welcome our neighbours but unsocial behaviour can be annoying. At the end of the day - is it your cafe? if not, decide if you don't want to go there anymore. you could possibly mention your reasons to the owner.... Otherwise, let's all just get on with our day. And, while we're on the topic of knotweed - how do i get the railway company to deal with the infestation on their side of the fence?
  12. Y, agreed - that is sound advice and the way forward. Thank you :-)
  13. I was told it was seen upstairs in the bathroom last week, while I was away, but I initailly found that a bit hard to believe. However, I've just seen it go out through the cat flap in the kitchen - cats went very quiet and I was curious - otherwise would not have heard it.. Seen it only recently around the gardens, as the fences are down due to renovations. Very very worried - can lock the cat flap, but that's not really solving the problem as the cats can't go out. It's not scared and hard to shoo away. Advice needed - - I have kids so can't have it sneaking around inside at all! (boyfriend wants to clobber it.....but I'm not sure I align with that.
  14. my little cousin didn't talk and until he was three plus. We were worried and my Nan sat him down and said she needed him to talk to her and he did. Hasn't stopped since! Keep talking to him and reading to him - he clearly likes books!
  15. thank you all for your advice.... Jules
  16. It's very unprofessional of the Delivery driver to give you that information. He ought to have said that there was a problem with delivery. I wouldn't necessarily believe him.... as it transpires, he is free from blame and someone else is now the focus... handy exit, eh! I would very much doubt he went back and asked the previous person - - he probably just realised what had happened, left it at that and carried on with his day.... I wonder what Waitrose policy is in such circumstances... probably not to back back to a previous delivery customer.
  17. We had a fantastic time and I hope you do to! We were given advise before we went and so took lots of fruit with us and water bottles. We used the ice from the hotel ice machine to keep things cool and made snacks from the breakfast buffet to get us through the day, without having to eat their not very healthy on-site lunches. Probably saved a fortune as bottles of water were 5 Euros each. It's a cornered market once you're there - very pricey and no alternatives unless you go outside... The hotels were fantastic and really easy to get around, whereever you stay!
  18. Hello EDF I need to transfer my doctor to one closer to home (Goose Green) so would appreciate recommendations, please. Thanks Jules
  19. Easily cleaned if you use a broom, soap /disinfectant/ Jeyes fluid and a hose Definately use the green bags to dispose of waste - ask Southwark if you don't have any - to keep flies and maggots (eugh) at bay.
  20. add more cushions so you don't notice the sag. Then you can keep re-arranging them just for a change
  21. Found Florence a bit scary.. had to turn it off and was thankful was not there
  22. Personally, I think it's a pity it will get converted to houses. It's currently full and provides much needed cheap accomodation and rooms can be rented on a weekly basis - no need for extortionate deposits. It's only being sold as the owner is very ill.
  23. Tight Fit - The Lion Sleeps Tonight (lol, sorry)
