  1. give him bigger hugs and more kisses
  2. if you get a wasp sting, vinegar relieves it amazingly well.
  3. I watched the documentary...can't say 'enjoyed' is the right word.... Absolutely rotten and heartless - the lies they told to cover themselves up and the additional pain they put the families through. What is the is about a minute silence at football matches for Maggie thatcher? Has the world gone mad?
  4. Margate is a nice sandy beach and easy to get to from Herne Hill
  5. my daughter went with school and absolutely loved it
  6. I don't have a problem with tests in school. My daughter's doing her SATS now. I don't think taking children out of school in protest is a good lesson for them - that will just teach them if they don't want to do something, they don't have to. General problems at our school are 1) bullying - and ineffective methods of addressing it - largely from teachers being too busy/ denial and refusal to do anything by the relevant parent 2) general lack of discipline - unruly children disrupting classes 3) classes too large 4) changes of curriculum 5) lack of parental involvement (how many parents support the PTA? In a healthy environment, all children will learn. Tests are essential as life is not without pressures and competition. Unfortuntately, the schools have to conform to government gudelines which is where detachemnt comes from.... Teachers hsouldn't have to struggle as much as they do - and should be supported. I think our school does well, despite having restrictions, too many targets, too many kids, too littel support.....
  7. where I work, this is a minefield - we would have to demonstrate that we had clearly defined the expectation of behavior (how you do something and not just what it is that needs doing)and that this had been understood. It may indeed be that he is young and you like him but he was learning. If you want to go into the detail of that, you would have to think about his contribution to your company in a positive light (as you can't give negative reference). so you could say - 'well suited to leadership style management' rather than 'no self motivation'.... you could say - 'lovely chap to have around, would look forward to working with him again in the future when his professional skills have fully matured' It sounds reasonable to say that he has potential but you didn't have the resources to develop him, as you are a small company and needed a specific skill set, that he didn't match.
  8. I thought Peckham was the new ED?
  9. A contractor should be there to do a specific thing - should have the skillset to do it and the mindframe to do it professionally.
  10. I would suggest take a deep breath and re-prioritise.
  11. Freeing him up just in time for the NHS take over..... BHS/NHS...... even spelt the same (well, close) run it down, sell it cheap, makes shedloads of money, screw everyone.....sounds like he's got teh necessary credentials...oh and Cameron rates him....
  12. 'the new academies do not actually need qualified teachers' yes and here's the link to the BBC news detailing the new ruling http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/education-19017544
  13. The end game is privatisation - outsourcing / replacing with private medical companies. Yes, making conditions so bad that the doctors will leave the NHS. It's very clear. Same with schools - the new academies do not actually need qualified teachers and so education can be outsourced to private companies. Not forgetting, private companies have the interests of making money as top objective....
  14. I concur...the terrifying sound of silence.....
  15. still waiting to see Jason Stratham but I think he's sold out and moved somewhere more expensive

Writing can be cathartic - in which case you may possibly direct her to a blog or forum for that specific audience, which might mean she has more engaging conversations than posting randomly on fb....? it's also quite easy to create a blog, so that could also be an option?

Perhaps it's because we realise we're all getting old and the reality of death is facing us in a way that youth is oblivious to. (and for those 'social media haters'... EDF Lounge is a form of it)
  19. do we import croissants? oh my days!
  20. thank you! Perfect for today :-)
  21. I don't think it actually matters if it was late and he paid a fine of ?100. It's neither illegal OR immoral. I do mine when I have time and sometimes they're late...it doesn't make me 'fooking useless' The fact is he paid his tax.
  22. M&S are always very polite....
  23. oh...was jumping to conclusions that it was more exciting than it really is....
  24. maybe it's all a conspiracy so we stay in Europe (by removing any option for independence as they are so useless)
