  1. Unfortunately there's a notice on the door now saying the building has been repossessed.
  2. Well spotted flocker spotter.
  3. KK - My washing machine broke down recently so I used a launderette for a few days. I was surprised how many regular customers were using it. I also thought everyone has a washing mc nowadays.
  4. That's a shame. Those benches were often used by pupils from JAGS and others.
  5. Haven't seen it myself, but if it's blocking the road maybe Southwark Council can help. Likelihood is it will stay there until the workers return from Christmas holidays.
  6. If it's the same building, I think it was the Edward Rudolph school for the blind. It later became the site for Cityview court.
  7. The workhouse hospital was originally called St. Francis hospital. It was situated at the end of Constance Road which was later renamed St. Francis road. It then became a geriatric hospital. Much later it was renamed Dulwich North. It was linked to Dulwich South by a tunnel under the railway which is still there although blocked off.
  8. If by some chance you are reading this, I found your registration plate near the bend in Ferris Road. I've propped it up on a wheelie bin.
  9. Hi Huggers Hope you had an undisturbed night's sleep last night.
  10. Huggers,I sympathise with your situation. I live very close to Goodrich School. A few years ago they installed powerful floodlights which were linked to movement detectors. Every time an animal entered the school playground the lights would come on for about 10 minutes lighting up the local area and shining directly into one of our bedrooms. When the local animal population was particularly active the lights would come on and off throughout the night. The premises officer did kindly adjust one of the lights so it no longer shone directly into our bedroom but fortunately they have now replaced the system with a much lower level one which is on all night but doesn't bother us. Hope you get an undisturbed night tonight.
  11. Alleyns is indeed a different school to what it used to be. I was a pupil there from 1965 when it was a boys grammar school. The majority of pupils then lived locally and had a free place. Since becoming independent the fees are way outside the reach of most local people, hence the need for coaches to transport the pupils from afar.
  12. Does that include the council's own parking enforcement cars which leave their engines running for ages?!
  13. There's also a very friendly one at the junction of Goodrich Road/Barry Road and another at junction Etherow Street/Barry Road. Take your pick wherever is easiest for you.
  14. You are selected at random from the electoral register. I've done it several times, other people I know have never been called.
  15. Such a shame. It's my favourite one. Hope it can be restored.
  16. Where is there a CPZ near Crystal Palace Road?
  17. It was a little further down the road (near Friern Road) for ages, but Thames water had to move it when they started digging in the road. Don't know who it belongs to though.
  18. That's not entirely true. The electoral register also shows who is ineligible for Jury service due to age. The very people that scammers are looking for.
  19. Thank you for your help everyone. I've signed up for the Stuart Road newsletter on their website and have applied to go on the Grove waiting list. My retirement is rapidly looming so I'm looking for some interesting new things to do with my time.
  20. If it is a tracked or signed for item, you should be able to find where it is by putting the tracking number into the delivery company's website.
  21. Does anyone know how to get an allotment please? The Stuart Road ones look great but they are very popular and it's difficult just to get on the waiting list, let alone actually getting one! I Would be grateful for any suggestions.
  22. Yes mine is a swatch. Used the dry cleaners next to the post office in Lordship Lane.
  23. Yes. Conways are resurfacing part of Barry Road, so Barry Road is currently closed between Underhill Road and Goodrich Road.
