  1. Can't believe anyone would dump a vehicle of that value. Perhaps it was stolen and then dumped? There's probably more to this.
  2. For your information. Underhill Road is now closed and digging has just started. Doesn't seem to be causing any problems at the moment.
  3. Hello Pugwash. Not exactly a residents association but I joined the East Dulwich society as a life member back in the 1970s but haven't received anything from them for several years. Wonder what happened to them.
  4. Back to Threshers. It doesn't seem to have separate access to the flat without going through the shop, so it could only be let to someone wanting to run the shop and live above it. Alternatively the shop could be made narrower and a separate access made onto the street but this will be expensive and it doesn't seem as if the current owner is likely to have this done. Edited to correct typing error!
  5. Will the p13 bus stop anywhere between Whatley Road and Underhill Road while it is on diversion along Lordship Lane?
  6. If you take her to a vet they will be able to check if she is microchipped and reunite her with her owner.
  7. My postie said nearly every house had one. The poor man was drenched when he arrived.
  8. A large square has just been painted in the middle of the road where they will be excavating, so it looks like the road will soon be closed to allow work to begin.
  9. There are lots of church halls and community centres in East Dulwich. Ideal if you want to do your own catering. Try the Goose Green Centre (attached to St. Johns church), St. Clements church hall or the Alleyn Community Centre.
  10. The white van and the green van have been swapped round and moved away from the corner. There's now a car where the white van was but it is easier to see round the corner.
  11. Was driving along Crystal Palace Road and everything suddenly went pitch black. Traffic lights were out too.
  12. A few days ago a seat was installed outside with a plaque commemorating the opening. It's dated today.
  13. I've just tried this with my own car and yes it is easy. However how many people are going to bother checking online to see if an abandoned vehicle is taxed? (My car is taxed by the way!)
  14. Now that you don't have to display a tax disc it is not easy for the public to see whether a vehicle is taxed.

    Smart meters

Hello Lynne, EDF asked me to take part in a trial when Smart meters were first introduced. I think they are a brilliant idea. As well as your smart meter you get a gadget which constantly displays information such as how much electricity you are currently using, the cost for yesterday, last week, each month in the year etc. Also the meter continually sends it's own reading to EDF so you never have to have your meter read and you never get an estimated bill. I've not had any problem with it.
  16. That was most interesting. I lived in a different part of East Dulwich then and didn't venture into Forest Hill Road. I do remember the Michelin star restaurant in Lordship Lane though. It was called 'Chez Nico' and was way more expensive than anywhere else locally. After it closed the building became a burger restaurant for a while and then became Mr. Liu Chinese restaurant which has now been there for a long time.
  17. Edcam - The houseowner doesn't get paid, but the estate agent pays a small amount to the school or organisation for each sign displayed.
  18. The scaffolding is being taken down.
  19. At that price it won't stay as a cheap Hotel/Lodging house
  20. Drxyster - I like your sense of humour.
  21. What will replace the current French caf? if it's moving up the road?
  22. Does anyone know what is happening to the empty site just round the corner from the launderette in Dunstans Road? The site was cleared some time ago but a live electricity supply was left attached to the wall which was clearly extremely dangerous in the rain. It has now finally been cut off, but the site remains empty.
  23. I went to the service. The church was packed. There were many people there who had known him over the years and had come back to pay their respects. Such a sad loss. May he rest in peace.
  24. It is already very difficult to park near there as it's next door to the leisure centre. Adding extra homes will make the situation worse.
  25. Try the local studies library.
