It's density rather than viscosity - Archimedes principle: "Any object, wholly or partially immersed in a fluid, is buoyed up by a force equal to the weight of the fluid displaced by the object." Hence an escaping sailor will displace the amount of fluid equivalent to his own weight. If his own volume is larger than that of the water displaced, then part of his body will be buoyed up above the water: hence he floats. Because people are mainly water, and muscle is denser (heavier) than water, skinny and underfed sailors in the olden days displaced water that weighed less than themselves, and mostly sank. If you add a lifevest (a large volume object that doesn't weigh as much as water), then the total volume of water displaced was less than the total volume of sailor plus vest, hence they floated. And floating, the escaped, very slowly. Probably in a bad doggy style, as most sailors in the olden days never learnt how to swim.

The problem with one person flats is not the extreme circumstances, they're people like zeban claiming she should have a one person council flat because she wants an alternative 'charidee' lifestyle and wants to live like people who work really hard. Your views on HB not distorting a market are just childish - as are your views that landlords 'keep rents high because they can't afford to lower them'. Just stupid. My only mention about council housing was to challenge gifting it out one person at a time. It's welfare paid for by other people, not a passport to a private penthouse. Perhaps this would count :"Of course I give a shit about all these hardworking people who are struggling to find accommodation because it's overpriced." If you don't get my views from that you're either terminally retarded or purposefully ignoring it, which makes you obnoxious. My point was that your naive, uninspired and poorly informed approach is actually making it more difficult for the people you're trying to help. Do you get it? You're actually fucking them up. You can't bloody get this because you have neither the wit nor the intelligence to think beyond taking money from taxpayers and giving it to others. The numbers probably seem a bit big to contemplate, but it's worth taking a moment to consider the scale of that pointless and vindicitive American imperialist slaughter.

Your bollocks about charity work doesn't tell me anything. You have to understand that the MARKET IS DISTORTED. The market is distorted by housing benefit. Of course I give a shit about all these hardworking people who are struggling to find accommodation because it's overpriced. What you are struggling to get through your skull is that THE REASON WHY THE MARKET IS OVERPRICED IS BECAUSE OF HOUSING BENEFIT. If you pump more money into housing benefit you are just distorting the market even more. YOUR POLICIES ARE GOING TO DRIVE PRICES UP FOR THE PEOPLE YOU ARE TRYING TO PROTECT. And it's all going to go into the hands of profiteering private landlords - the people you want to stop. We already agree that there are tax benefits for multiple house ownership that you and I both despise. What you do is look in a frustrated way at all these hard working people and look at all these high prices and have an emotional splurge, and you want to throw taxpayer cash at them. Hmmmm..... This is getting bonkers, through a lack of common terms ;-) 3 is a telecoms provider - like Orange or O2. 3G is a telecoms standard that allows data transfer - if you already have a 3G data service from a telecoms provider then you can download data (like the internet) to your compatible device. iPad 3G is an iPad that has 3G standards compatibility, but doesn't come with connectivity unless you buy a data package from a telecoms provider. wifi is a connectivity that comes from a local router (small box with an ariel). To access this you'll need a password. It's possible that some train services have these small boxes on their trains and will charge you a price for the password. bluetooth is a way for your laptop to connect to your mobile telephone. If your telephone already has a data service (can you look at the internet on your mobile phone?) then you can use bluetooth to connect your laptop to your phone and then use your phone to access the internet. It sounds complicated, but it's not. It's just a question of getting used to it - you wouldn't confuse a bicycle with a car would you?

It does no good to hand to use housing benefits to drive taxpayer money directly into the hands of private landlords who escalate rents to drive taxpayer contribution even higher, let alone to facilitate the fraud that can only take place in the bloated environment of government funded bureaucracy. Half the households in the country are now receiving housing support of some kind or another from the taxpayer - a complete distortion of a welfare fund that was originally set up to giver security to the disadvantaged. It's a considerable mistake to think that the correct response is to plough even more taxpayer money into perpetuating a dysfunctional market. I should add that I don't think there should be single people in one bedroom council flats except in extreme circumstances - it facilitates a lifestyle without the responsibility and pressure of a constructive social environemnt vital to social development. -
Very rare to have wireless on a train - if they're using t'web (no guarantee), it's more likely they have a bluetooth connection to a smartphone modem.

Gary Nasher @JC Caddy - sorted it myself - when the "error 061/606" message appears - hook your phone up to your pc/mac (make sure you do it while the error message is still displayed) and the install is resolved. It may show an "error 507" message, but ignore this, as it returns to the startup screen and then finally resets. You'll have to restore afterwards from your most recent backup. Shafurdeen Rafeek hi guys same thing happens to me..APP error 601 on a blank lit screen and i cant get pass this nor does it connects to my desktop..anyone out there plz help to so i can fix this problem on my torch.. When I connect it to Desktop manager it asks me to update or retry. Then it says no updates are available and it failed to connect. I am using MAC OSX. Please help Gary Nasher Delete the Blackberry Desktop Manager then download and reinstall. Then when your phone starts up and reaches the error screen, hook it up to your mac before it restarts. Ah, the challenge is to think about mass as an energy state rather than a particle. Atomic nuclei are made up of protons and neutrons. The number of protons in an atom is the nuclear weight. When 'light' nuclei fuse (join together) the result is at a lower energy state than the two original nuclei. Hence they give out energy. For atoms heavier than Iron (56), the fused nuclei are at a higher energy state so they require energy putting in to fuse together, or generate energy when they split. Hence fusion energy is created by fusing very light elements - hydrogen or helium. Fission energy is created by splitting very heavy elements - uranium and plutonium. There will come a time in the future when the sun has turned all its light elements into heavier ones, and it can no longer create fusion energy, and that's when it dies.

Is all the buying and selling from new users? Putting up with it isn't quite what I had in mind - I like to actually enjoy the forum, not put up with it. I can kind of cope with AllforNun by putting them on hide, but these mentalists keep re-registering with new names every day - and sometimes several times a day. I consider it abuse, and seee no reason why we should have to put up with it. It's taking the joy away.

Is it possible to postpone all new user registration for, say, a month? I can't think of another way of getting rid of the multiple registration dickheads. I'm thinking that with 24,000 already registered we're not going to be damaging the forum much. How many new registrations actually contribute much anyway?

I'm not sure exactly what phone you're looking itatm, but hopefully I can help. It's possible to connect to the internet without using the telephone network, by using wireless networking (and sometimes bluetooth). This isn't the same as using the mobile network - you actually need to be in an area that has a wireless network, and you need permission (and possibly a password) to use it. There's unlikely to be a wireless network on your average bus for example :-) To access the internet when you're on the move, you'll need to use a mobile network, and you'll need to have a data package.
