Think you're gonna need to back that Damian H ;-)
  2. Quiz. 22 points. I read somewhere that 'demythologizers' down the right wil get you over 1,500 points. But I can't find a way of generating this legally. People on the internet are cunts.
  3. Obsessed? I make one gag..... Are you projecting again?
  4. 'But we do abort fetuses because they have genetic disorders'. Apart from the spelling error, no 'we' don't. 'we' don't have a say in the matter at all. The only thing 'we' do is believe in parliamentary democracy and currently the woman's right to her own choices. Long may that continue. There are undoubtedly wierdos and Americans who will fund this kind of project, I'm surprised that anyone should think that offers it any kind of validity.
  5. It's clear that the moderators don't see this as a reinforcement of racial prejudice. It is. This would be unacceptable if it was anything but judaism. That's a tragedy.
  6. Ach Dougal! You've never been able to see the different levels have you?
  7. /irony Hurrah! What do you think about 'white' being a religion? I prefer to think about it as a race, so long as they have the right genetic heritage. I think Britain should be an equal opportunity place, so long as other people know their place, and know that it's a white nation. I'm thinking we could put it in a constituion: 'Everyone is welcome so long as they know that whites are in charge'. Wouldn't that be great? I live in Singapore, as many people know, and it was hard to imagine living in a place without many white people. I'm trying to find a place that has white people pre-schoolers. I'm going to take some of the recommendations that white people have suggested, once I figure out how people with different coloured skin can even drive! LOL! We could have lots of white parties! YAY! I'm trying out the local white people place, and hopefully there's some more places for white people!!! They have some great songs starting with 'White is Right', clapping and sing-a-longs! it's so good to hear! LOL! If we can all get together and sing about whiteness, it'll make it all seem so acceptable! /end irony Personal recommendation is not to use 'freedom of speech' to be a bigot.
  8. This isn't female oppression is it? We could have a walk about it, but just be sensible is my recommendation.
  9. Just for clarification on this, my recommendation is that you use terms like 'many of us round here' in a way that communicates that 'us' is exclusively your gang.
  10. No worries, Sandimous, always willing to welcome people to our country so they can establish a private gang to which no-one else is invited ;-) are you from a special race? We don't normally do racial discrimination in the UK unless it's the chosen one? Peckhampam, I'm not sure to what rights you allude, would it be the same rights that allow me to take the piss out of people who only allow special people into their gang? Not sure.
  11. Can I add, thank jehosophat for the catholics? Without them, we'd have been absolutely lost. Hug a Hoodie, Cuddle a Catholic.
  12. Erm. So it doesn't exist any more, and nothing is happening? I saw a TV program about the Incas. Bastards. Please discuss.
  13. If you'd read the summary Chippy, which I just have, you'll see that it doesn't support your case at all. It's even at pains to point out that it makes no claim between correlation and causation. Let me summarise the conclusion for you (it's written very clearly): Co-ordinated and non co-ordinated labour markets fare equally well in terms of productivity growth Co-ordinated and non co-ordinated labour markets fare equally well in terms of wage flexibility No difference in inflation and employment rates Differerences very weak in the long run as countries acccommodate Union effects on the performance of firms are ambiguous and vary Unions create differentials in favour of their members Not only that, but it points out that the findings are both inconsistent and bear no relation on the question of whether an increase in unionisation would improve performance. So it does nothing to support any of your claims.

Eh what? Does tarot think the comments about controlling women are my views? (And he wonders why I think he's an idiot?) They were the reasons the slutwalk organisers gave behind staging slutwalk. Bringing up sharia law with regards to gender discrimination is utterly misleading. The Christian faith has plenty of gender discrimination laws.
  15. Just a load of sweeping generalisations there Chippy that you've failed to offer any valid data to support. If you want to persuade anyone then let's see the data instead of the typical political cant. I mean, come on, the proof is in the pudding: the fact remains that the most effective union in the country, Bob Crow's mob, is controlling a transport infrastructure that is crippled by an entrenched and inert union, rather than a demonstration of high productivity and speedy adjustments. Most effective union in the US? The motor industry union - that industry is just fecked. They needed change and productivity increases, what they got was militancy, inertia, and uneployment. Well done. Even if you did somehow manage to demonstrate that there was a correlation between union membership and economic success elsewhere, you'd still need to demonstrate whether this was regardless, in spite, or because of union membership.

Golly, jezza - where hasn't it been posted?? Slutwalk Organisers' Blog FeministMemory site (partnered with Slutwalk) ... to name a couple. Slutwalk organisers asked for it to be repeated everywhere as a call to action. Hence there's a whole queue of sopabox ranters repeating it all over the net. It's hyperbole like this that makes it impossible to listen to with any degree of respect. The organisers seem to struggle to tell the difference between rape, female oppression, social conditioning, social norms, common sense, natural inclination and everyday anxieties suffered by everyone regardless of gender.

  19. Ah, that's on a par with one of my Dad's - I want never gets, but don't ask don't want. Torture.
  20. Sliced tomato and branston pickle sandwiches.
  21. This should be in What's On section.
  22. I'm not sure that's quite how it works. I think that the insurance companies base premiums on the prevalence of particular claims currently being made in an area. If premiums are high, that's because claims are high rather than because of geological studies. I think the 'London Clay' rationale was created after the fact, and it's more a popular meme than geologically accurate. The London Basin Forum seems to be the group most likely to generate an accurate map, and it makes clear that London Clay is not always the surface geology, which can be a mix of river terraces and various sandy gravels.

It's just a different point of view RosieH - that doesn't make it arrogance. In your own way you're being just as intransigent as you're acccusing me of being. The fact is that you DON'T know what the people who responded to that survey intended. You've chosen to interpret it as blaming women for being raped. I find that view extraordinary in its misanthropy. I appreciate you may have had different life experiences to me - but if there are people telling you how to dress, attempting to prevent you from going out at night, stopping you wearing high heels and make up I would be shocked. If you're living in a culture where rape is considered okay and allowed to happen it's not a culture that is prevalent in the UK. This march has been promoted because some daft Canadian cop tried in a clumsy way to remind a bunch of teenagers about balancing rights and responsibilities, it was stupid and oafish. It is not a manifestation of a great injustice suffered by women who are 'constantly made to feel like victims' - that's ridiculous hyperbole. Rape is a terrible crime of violence, but that doesn't make it okay for women to shout out sweeping generalisations and blanket accusations aimed at men.
  24. Ah, yes sorry, Iwas tryiong to interpret this one: "Frost put the taters down, wind blew the candle out."

I think if there are men out there who don't think rape is a crime, then they are unlikely to be swayed by a 'slutwalk'. It's quotes like these that get my goat, this one from the slutwalk London organisers. 'All over the world, women are constantly made to feel like victims, told they should not look a certain way, should not go out at night, should not go into certain areas, should not get drunk, should not wear high heels or make up, should not be alone with someone they don't know.' 'Not only does this divert attention away from the real cause of the crime - the perpetrator - but it creates a culture where rape is OK, where it's allowed to happen... after all, she must have been asking for it, right?' Judging by the middle class appearance of the 'protestors', I suspect that very few of these are 'constantly' made to feel like victims, I suspect they haven't been told to 'look a certain way' since their Dad did when they were 14. I'm guessing that none of them have ever been told not to go out at night, and none of them have been told not to get drunk. I'm also guessing that none of them have been told not to wear high heels or make up. And getting drunk with complete strangers is something that your average bloke wouldn't do either. There is no way in which rape is considered 'okay' and allowed to happen. If they're going to make protests against situations in other countries and other cultures, then they should be aware that prancing around in your undies in Trafalgar Square isn't going to do anything. So this is all just ridiculous, aggressive, confrontational bullshit. They shouldn't be surprised to discover that it completely alientates people from their cause, and turns potential supporters away from them. Tilting at windmills.
