  1. I'm just speaking from experience and advice from care homes when looking after my late father and father in law . Of course its awful.you are right. Having seen my father in law take other people's glasses while in hospital, and so many patients who are confused or with dementia it can be very disturbing. Just a warning for others.
  2. I would just advise anyone going into hospital to put their name labels on things like glasses and glass case, phones, chargers, false teeth cases.
  3. We will have to do lots of manual work in the house to keep warm or go out .Can't we.make.those static bikes generate electric somehow?
  4. I'm no longer an expert, but a damp meter is a useful tool to have. Its also good to check how things dry out. Often misused its true.
  5. It might be worth buying a moisture meter, which would help you see where the damp is ,and where it has the highest readings. Make sure you get one that will measure the correct material. Ie don't buy one for timber if its for solid walls. Always best to have some idea yourself.
  6. I always think something like this for muddy cyclists and runners too. Maybe you could amalgamate the 2 ideas.
  7. I think that part from Greenwich to Woolwich is very busy with pedestrians at the weekend, especially the first part.
  8. If you are on "let's ride" HSBCspinsored cycle website, you can download lots of good local rides.
  9. we could all be safer by only using one headphone so we are more aware of those around us, and keeping our phone in our pocket and using the headphones/ microphone.Of course I rarely do this, apart from the one headphone.
  10. Yes, my supplier went under today, I swapped in April, to a smaller supplier with less overheads....
  11. I can assure you I switch EVERYTHING off.Its others that don't. Then I have a heated debate. What about phone and bike light chargers everywhere?
  12. Well as you are all so informed.Does leaving things like the and laptops on standby really use a lot of energy? A lot of energy wasted in my household arguing this
  13. Less experienced people are so reliant on their phones, even using sat nav to walk from A to B makes you a target, but weve all done it in unfamiliar places. I used to print a map off but that is frowned upon now.
  14. the worse thing is WFH sitting still at a pc. You need heating. You need it for each room someone is in and my bills were much higher last year.
  15. I regularly see men on their phones too! Its not just women.
  16. Wow, Thanks everyone, found him.😀
  17. Hi I think someone on the forum occasionally let's a place in Weymouth. If its you, please get in touch.thanks
  18. In order to implement it there will have to be a huge infrastructure of cameras. Its movement within the area, not just at the thresholds. I can't see it being ready on time.
  19. Sue, sadly we never knew when we made dashes whether they are dying ones. That can often be the way. Slips and falls, and so it goes. ..
  20. Im thinking about it, but it has been for last minute dashes that I have kept the car, rushing off to see ill parents, needing to take them to hospital etc. also collecting teenagers/ taking them to A and E. etc etc. I guess there is a time when you dont need to be around for these mercy dashes, but the cost of a quick train/ flight to somewhere more than an uber away is v expensive. If you qualify for free public transport and dont have to factor in these emergency journeys then there is little reason to have the responsibility of a car.
  21. I think they are all like this. Thank you for sharing.😉
