  1. Saila, I so feel for you. I had the Brierly Midwives and had a great experience. I had planned a homebirth, but ended up at Kings. I was scared as I had heard so many horror stories from my friends but my midwife stayed with me and ensured I was supported and my birthplan was adhered to (mostly). It felt good to have continuous support, someone with me who understood exactly where I was at and what I wanted and could communicate it to the staff at Kings. I accessed the Brierly via the DMC Dr's surgery. Good luck. xxx
  2. hallo, My car has sadly been written off by some moron whilst parked on my road. I now have to replace it urgently! My budget is limited but I need ideas. I need a 5 door car, with reasonable boot space for pushchair / shopping etc. 1.4-1.6, so not too meaty. Dont want a complete banger! Only have ?2K! Ideas welcomed. Thanks, x
  3. My LO has goats milk and has enjoyed it for months now. It is pricey but worth it. He also has and enjoys soya yogurts. It's great to learn about sardines and oat milk. Shaunag - Is the Oatly oat milk ok for babies? Which one do you use for your LO? Also good to know about the liquid calcium.
  4. Thanks so much everyone. This is really wonderful feedback and I'll pass on all the info. nubby's mums - They are due in August, so a little way off yet, but I'll pass on your details and I'm sure they will PM you. Once again, thanks so much.xxx
  5. Strawbs - you star! That's really helpful, I'll pass on the info about Becky. x
  6. Hi Fuschia, thanks for your reply. I've just googled the twins club - is this what you're talking about? http://ddtwinsclub.org/new/ My friends aren't expecting twins but it's good to know there is something they could access.
  7. I have 2 good friends who are expecting thier first baby and would like to attend an NCT group but are concerned they may not receive a positive response from the others in the group. Has anyone heard of NCT groups for same sex parents? Or has attended an NCT group with same sex parents? Or some sort of support network for same sex parents? My own expeience of NCT groups is very positive but I'm not in thier shoes. Feel free to PM me if you prefer. Thanks in advance.
  8. Oh Chemicaltrip, this is interesting! I'm liking the Neighbourhood watch crew! We didn't call the police and didn't see them either as had gone back to bed after the excitement of our late night caller. I wonder if he / they came to you after me.. It's weird that he just gave up his wrists to the police - at least he went quietly. All very weird.
  9. Thanks guys, I suspect you may be right. At least no one else has had the same experience.
  10. I had a weird experience last night... At 4am my doorbell was rung in an urgent and impatient manner - the doorbell for the flat upstairs was rung (although we didn't realise until my partner went to the front door at the same time as the guy from upstairs came down to see what was going on). A man (we didn't open the main front door) was talking in a raised voice "Oi Geezer, let me in!" My partner asked who it is and he replied "It's Torrent! C'mon, let me in!". This man got quite cross when we didn't let him in and my partner told him that no one of that name lived here. We live on Tintagel Crescent and pretty much the entire street are young families or the few folk who have been here for decades. It seems unlikely that the demographic on my road would be pals with someone who would bang the door at 4am in a slightly threatening manner. So, my questions are... Has anyone had this kind of experience? Does anyone know Torrent? This guy was with someone else and they both walked off towards Elsie Road at 4am. Maybe I'm suspicious but it all smells a bit funny to me.
  11. I live on Tintagel and have not been consulted about option 5. I still dont see a link to the consultation results. You guys may have already seen it and looked but I'd be really grateful if you can re post it. 12. Good request! Please can some one post. fazer71 Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Can someone post a link to the consultation > results pls...?
  13. I live on Tintagel and would like to know where I can find the detailed numbers from the consultation. Can anyone advise or send a link?
  14. I live on Tintagel Crescent and I'm against the CPZ scheme. My neighbours that I've spoken to are also against the scheme. I'm wondering if there is anyone on Tintagel or Elsie Road who supports this scheme?
  15. Thanks Minder for the alternative goats milk option. I dont think it's SMA just the milk that is in the product. Fuschia - I went to the GP asking to be refereed to a dietitian. There are dairy intolerance's and eczema in my family. He reckoned my diagnosis was correct and to make an informed choice about the milk after researching options. After reading what i've just written I think I will go back and ask to be referred again. I'll see a different Dr instead will hopefully get a referral without too much hassle. My son is just over 5 months old. Thanks x
  16. Whilst breast feeding I noticed my sons skin improved (he had bad cradle cap / borderline eczema) when I cut out dairy and wheat from my diet. When I introduced formula - as a dream feed - I gave him goats milk. However, I soon realised he hated the goats milk when we moved on to formula for all of his feeds so we switched to SMA which he enjoys. Now his skin is getting worse and the eczema is flaring up on his body. I've visited the Dr who said I should investigate soya / goat milk alternatives. Has anyone had a similar experience? Has anyone found another goats milk other than Nanny? Has anyone used soya milk and found their LO responded well to it? Thanks in advance.
  17. I bought my from Myriad and it only took 3 days. I appreciate your concern due to Xmas but if you call up they may send special delivery so you get in the next day. Hope things get easier for your LO - I know how hard it is when they are suffering.
  18. Fair point about the inconsistency re baby Led Weaning. The individual leading todays event wasn't particularly pro, her advice pointed out the cons but not the pro's. Anyjoy - Glad you got to make it. x
  19. It's so good to read that others have experienced the 4 month regression. My LO is now 4.5 months and the last 10 days have been knackering! I'll look out for the Wonder weeks at the library. Thanks, Jas
  20. I'm interested in this too. Have you already organised?
  21. A friend informed me of a weaning workshop that is happening tomorrow from 1.30-3pm at the Albrighton Centre, next to DKH School.
  22. hello, I'd like to recommend D&G services. Steve has just completed a job in my garden. I'm very happy with the work he carried out he was also very tidy and cleared away the cuttings / soil etc. Thanks
  23. Thanks cmacnew and kristymac. I have to pay my deposit today if I want to enrol my son. I'm glad I'm not the only one who found them pushy for money and had trouble getting answers to our questions. I just wanted to be able to control what my son eats as he'll only be 6 months and just beginning to try solids, so I'd rather him try different foods individually than a mix of pureed veg. Maybe I'm just a control freak? It's great to know they grow the veg on site and that Kristymac rates the chef. I had checked the forum ages ago and again last night - there are many posts that give great feedback. I viewed the nursery twice when pregnant but there were questions I didnt think of until my baby arrived. Cmacnew - did you ask about naps? The manager said it was baby led, which is fine, but mine does try to stay away, then gets over tired, melts down and then sleeps for hours, which is a nightmare at night. So I have him in a routine, currently trying to teach him to self soothe, which should be nailed by 6 months (hopefully) but at this moment he needs encouraging to have morning and afternoon naps. I'm planning on going there today, the manager just asked me to leave the cheque in the post box outside, but I'm hoping someone else will answer the door so that I can actually go back in and finish off my questions. I'd love to know what you decide to do and whether you manage to get any further with your decision. Thanks again. x
  24. I was on the waiting list to send my son to go to Greendale in Jan (he will be 6 months old), I was originally very happy with the nursery and no concerns until I was called to be offered a place (earlier today). I felt as though I was being pushed to pay the ?200 asap and my queries (as a new Mum) were not welcomed. Has anyone sent their babies there? One of my queries was about food - I'd like to bring my own food in for my baby as he will be weaning and only just going on to solids. This idea was discouraged "as parents don't usually bring in their own food" and the lady said that they would just puree whatever the kids were eating that day. When I queried what foods they give babies she said examples were spinach and ricotta or chicken and veg! She called me back soon after to say she had made a mistake.... And that Mums can choose from the menu as to what is given to their child. This conversation has left me feeling somewhat nervous, however I don't want to judge a nursery on one phone call with one lady. If any one has any experience in sending their babies there I'd love to hear from you. Thanks,
  25. Hi Pilsbury, I'd love to hear which pool you choose and how you find it. Julia is my midwife at the Brierley, the one thing she mentioned is that the blow up ones some times allow water over the edge if not blown up really hard as collapse slightly when leaning on it. Although I'm sure water on the floor will be the last thing you're thinking of when little one is arriving.
