  1. the cheapskate 'buyer' who will 'take it off your hands' for 'free' to 'save you the trouble of getting rid of it yourself'
  2. the meeting was (& still is) quite clearly advertised on The Surgery's website www.thegardenssurgery.co.uk

I had one a while ago & it is nothing more than a very uncomfortable camping bed. The matress is thin & the bed is very short in length & narrow. It doesn't always stand straight & as a chair it is not that comfortable either. (You have to be careful when buying Ikea beds & sofa beds to check the measurements - they vary quite a lot & don't do uk standard sizes).
  4. Thanks James for the info. I look forward to the crossing. No more trudging up to Iceland to cross over. Fab.
  5. There is no crossing outside the co-op at the mo that I can see only a largish ramp on the road. Where is this new crossing or is it yet to be built?

  7. I was told there was a police car on Upland Rd end of Hindmans Rd last night.
  8. If it's bothering you, ring the southwark noise team to report it. Tel 020 7525 5777 . They will also be able to check to see if they are supposed to be there.

  10. yep, they bashed on my door too tonight. Very loud & pushy. They were hard to get rid of so I told them I didn't have a loft lol & then they went off, leaving my gate wide open grrr!

  12. I have only recently started buying online from Sainsburys in an effort to save money, banning myself from going into shops & making those tempting compulsive buys:-$ So far, so good. All deliveries have turned up on time. Once I received a bag of courgettes & some of them were going bad so I just rang Sainsburys & they gave me a refund. The only thing I do find a bit annoying is the online trolly - you have to be careful & keep saving it along the way as it times out & items can disappear without you noticing!(6)

  14. thanks for everyone's replies, just seemed a bit odd to me him knocking late in the evening, he didn't have any leaflets or anything to take notes, didn't say which company he was with & I didn't ask as didn't want to get into discussion.
  15. I walk past the 'East Dulwich Hotel' a few times a day. It never used to have a sign up just a hand scribbled note stuck to gate or board saying 'rooms' but now has a proper sign up saying 'East Dulwich Hotel'! I was very surprised to see this as it still looks as seedy & dirty as ever, the paper note is still stuck to the board outside. I have seen inside on many occasion when the door's been left wide open & it does look very manky, not the sort of place you'd want to cross the threshold let alone stay in. I googled it out of curiosity & found not surprisingly ,amongst others, 3 x 1 star reviews on Trip Advisor.co.uk
  16. Just had a knock on the door from guy asking if I get my milk delivered & if I'd like it delivered, said he was the new milkman? A bit odd this time of evening & a bit odd anyway I thought. He had no id or anything or leaflets. He appeared to be randomly knocking on doors round Upland Rd. I wondered if anyone else had experienced this?
  17. Oh right,ok. haha, I take it you garden from the comfort of your armchair:))
  18. Hi, why is October better, does it make a difference when I lift them out to pot?
  19. I have lavender which has self seeded itself in the pebbled area of my garden. I pulled some of these baby lavenders out & planted them into pots, watered them in & placed in a sunny position but they all withered & died. Can anyone give me any advice on how I can grow these young lavenders into strong healthy plants? Has anyone managed to do this successfully?
  20. Calamine lotion or plain Greek yoghurt - just apply thickly over sunburned area. I have tried this myself & it works like a miracle, sunburn practically disappears within hours & it's very soothing.
  21. I've just had these 2 clowns knocking on my door within seconds of each other. I couldn't understand a word of what they were babbling on about, all I heard was 'grant', 'electrician' & 'fuzzy?', so I said no thanks & shut the door lol
  22. Did anyone else have anyone from McMillan Cancer Suppor knocking on their door last night? I thought I'd ask on here as seemed a bit odd to me. Someone called Karen knocked around 8.30pm. I didn't open the door.
  23. No. Not always. If you get your young cat used to going outside from a back door, that leads into the garden, they are very much less likely to want to use the front & therefore will roam back gardens & not busy streets. This isn't always the case - but it can definetly be prevented & worth a shot, if you care enough.

It's always best to let them out back. Terrible news. I'm so sorry for whoever the kittie belonged to. :( Keep cats away from busy roads, or any roads. I'm seeing an awful lot of them lately, including kittens who obviously have owners.
  25. Maybe you Ruffers! only joking :)) Go see for yourself next time you're in there & you'll see exactly what I mean.
