  1. Livebait, I'm interested in the refresher for the same reasons really. My son is currently 14 months and my NCT group and other mummy friends I met along the way have all gone back to work now. I would love to have a similar network around me this time maybe we could arrange a summer babies meet if people fancy?
  2. Reneet, Is the NCT intensive course you talk about the refresher course? I'm probably way to late to sign up for it now but have decided it would probably be a good idea especially as I had a precipitous labour last time so am going for a homebirth this time. I haven't signed up for any yoga this time but I went to Jo Harrison's http://www.sitaram.org/ class up at King's on a Saturday morning last time. Whilst it wasn't particularly energetic, the meditation and relaxation sessions were great and I met a good group of girls there. Px
  3. I have to confess that despite starting this thread, we didn't make it to either of the meets due to illness first him and then me! We're away this week but if you do get it up and running again Thursday afternoon at The Plough we'll try for the following week.
  4. I'm sure I saw some little swimmers on the stand with goggles etc at Dulwich pool this weekend.
  5. Yes thanks Saffron. Your post is more helpful and clear than numerous conversations with midwives and GP's!
  6. Just to second New Mothers point about girls and immunity. I have had cp 6 times. Blood tests in my first pregnancy showed I have no immunity. It wasn't too hard to avoid it in my first pregnancy as I wasnt interacting with many kids etc. Now I am pregnant again, it is a real nightmare. We've had to pull my son out of nursery as they've been overrun with it since before Christmas and I am cautious with any groups we go to as everyone seems to be talking about someone they know with it! As far as vaccines are concerned my midwife has only told me about one they will give me if I do get it. It's not a cure though and there are huge risks associated with it. Is this the same vaccine you refer to?
  7. Thanks ClareC for starting this thread and thanks Pickle for such a genuine reply. I too had read the other thread and panicked. When I mentioned it to an old colleague of mine with a small gap between her two, she handed me the Gina contented baby and toddler book and wished me good luck! I hadn't anticipated it would be easy but if anyone has any life saving tips I'd love to hear them.
  8. I'm sorry I didn't. I discounted it, (and glazed over a bit if i'm being honest) as soon as I found out it wouldn't fit on our frame! We managed last time with our maxi cosi and cocoon combo. I'm sure we'll make it through those first few months again.
  9. Having had a chat to the lady in mothercare it would seem the maxi cosi only fits on the new Vibe frame (not our 2009 one). It would also seem if you use the maxi cosi you can't use the doubles kit underneath due to uneven weight distribution. So all in all it's great if you've just got the baby with you but if you're with the toddler and baby the cocoon and doubles kit seems the way to go.
  10. I'm drawing a bit of a blank on this too. I also need to know if the adaptors will fit the 2009 model (I doubt it). I think a trip to mothercare is in order. I'll let you know how we get on.
  11. Radnrach, I think as with all things related to your child it's a very personal decision but I understand as a first time mum it's a daunting move to make. My son was b/feeding every 2 hours day and night between 3.5 and 4 months. He never seemed contented with just my milk. A bit of pureed fruit worked wonders for us and I have no regrets in introducing it 'early' whatsoever. I have to say and without going into too many personal details. As a first time mother the thing I found the most difficult to handle was the constant 'pushing' of exclusive breastfeeding from the midwives and health visitor. As others have said, trust your own instincts and if it feels right and your baby is interested in food then give it a go.
  12. Having started this thread, I REALLY apologise for not making it yesterday. Yet again, my little boy has come down with a nasty stomach bug and we have spent the last 3 days climbing the walls whilst doing copious amounts of washing! It sounds as though it was a great success though. I'm praying we'll be fit and well by next week! Px
  13. I have always suffered from motion sickness which according to my mum was apparent from the day dot. Over the years she tried everything to try and help me but all the tablets etc made me feel sick before we even set off!! 34 years on, the only thing I swear by are sea bands which work using acupressure. You can use from the age of 2 I think (although as long as they fit on the wrist I can't see any harm in trying them earlier but I'm not a doctor)!
  14. Absolutely! Everyone is welcome.
  15. Me too! Second time for me too. I already have a 13 month old keeping me on my toes and the sonographer hinted he'll have a brother somewhere around the 16th July.
  16. Change of time and venue for Thursday's meet. Anytime from 2.30pm (i'll probably be there just before 3pm) at The Plough. Everyone's welcome. The more the merrier!
  17. It would seem there are lots of things out there but the difficulty is going to be accommodating all the age ranges and the vast number of mums and children we have! I'm going to try and make B&B's on the 10th but as this excludes quite a few because of older children. Therefore, how about a Thursday afternoon meeting starting next Thursday 14th, at 3pm at the main gate in Dulwich Park. We can then decide to either go in to the cafe or just wander based on numbers. If it looks like we'll have a good number each week after a few weeks I'll look into hiring a venue and making it more of a playgroup type thing with the essential biscuits and coffee etc! Px
  18. Hi everyone, I'm currently away so apologies for typos etc in advance, (tapping on my phone with fat fingers)! We did try and get together before Xmas but all seemed to fall ill so it didn't quite happen. We are going to try and get something up and running in the next couple of weeks. When I'm back in ED next week I'll send a pm and we can try again for anyone who's still keen. Happy new year! Ox
  19. The latex NUK teats are great. You can get them in Lloyds on Northcross Road.
  20. Just to add to this, I did the one day course at London Glassblowing earlier this year (a pressie for Xmas last year) and it was fantastic. If you're not sure what to ask for/give this year I'd highly recommend it!
  21. Due to limited availability we haven't made it all week. I'm hoping there's a refund to be had somewhere!
  22. It seems to be that most SAHM's seem to experience a similar thing from what I'm reading here. I'm very much looking forward to meeting one of ED's SAHM on the 16th time and details TBC. If anyone else wants to join us they would be very welcome. Px
  23. Thanks Snowboarder and to the people who have PM'd me. We do do a lot of the pay for groups Tin Pan Annie, Bea's Baby Bop etc and they're all great and fill the time. I guess I'm hoping to find some like minded people to fill the hole my NCT group and the Forum Playdate gap that is now emerging. These were more 'gossipy' groups generally held in someone's house where I actually met some really lovely people. I'm sure when I've adjusted to this SAHM thing and got my "I love biscuits" badge from Sillywoman I'll find out where everyone is hanging out!
  24. Having found out yesterday that I am being made redundant, I am desperately looking to find some more full time stay at home mums! My son will be one in a fortnight. Over the past year, we have enjoyed meeting with various groups of friends but are at the stage where others are beginning to go back to work and the 'slots' we had regularly filled each week are looming as empty holes in the diary!! We go to various clubs, playgroups and rhyme times but haven't really met many regular friends through these routes as it seems to be a different group of people each week. If anyone else is a SAHM and can point me in the direction of where the SAHM's go and how they fill their time I'd be really grateful. Px
  25. I don't have one on a Mclaren but I do use mine in my P&T and it's fine. It's not so fantastic in my 'O'Baby travel buggy (slips down) but the straps are very narrow on that and there's not much to grip on to! I'm not sure if that's remotely helpful. You're welcome to come and have a look if it would help!
