  1. On Sunday night I was down to LL to buy something and passed adventure bar on way down and the way back. On the way down they were playing Whithey Houston "Wanna dance with somebody" and on the way back up it was Lionel Ritchie - All Night Long... Jeez - is that normal ?
  2. Not bothered......Hmmmm. Sooo competitive.
  3. Gaucho - I'd be amazed, but it would be great. Cheap chain more likely I'm afraid, which is a pity for the Village as it need a good restaurant. Chez Gerard is obviously much better than cafe rouge but i suspect its too close nonetheless. Its like ED hoping for Waitrose and getting Coop. I'm sure someone msut know what it is going to be though.
  4. The villagers are partial to the likes of bella pasta and pizza express so another fast food chain is not out of the question.

  6. Most clubs are experiencing a financial reality check under the owners who bought them in the last 10 years expecting to make money on a sale but whoe are now revising their budgets. Managers in general will have to cope with having to buy and sell. As far as the comparisons with the Damned United are concerned the one I would point to is how Clough pushed his chairman to breaking point in terms of spending his hard earned cash. Cloughie used the chairman's money to further his ambitions at Derby before eventually pushing too far. Most managers will seek to extract as much cash as possible.
  7. And I took such care in spelling arriviste correctly, only to fall at the sucker fence. drat.
  8. Rosie - you knowledge of language never ceases to impress me. Arriviste - I love that. Kpau.
  9. He would see that of a waste of his abilities. He wants to win the Premiership, I imagine, and to eek out a mid table existence at Villa will frustrate him and damage his cv. Clubs, to get to the top are required to push their finances, player demand wages etc, if a subsequent manager is not up to the job then the club suffers, especially if that manager allows the club to get relagated, like Leicester.
  10. Does she play golf?
  11. sazzle Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Oh please, don't let them move to Dulwich. > She can move next to me if she wants. There's a little 2 bed flat going at the mo, with overrun garden, but im sure she could sort that out in notime. Sweaty work.
  12. The dream is to make the Champions League - hence the uefa cup decision - he knew his squad was running out of steam and so it proved. The prices you quote are the norm for top 4 teams and these are the teams he is competing with. In the end Randy lacked the required ambition or funds, one or the other, to keep MON and he is a very ambitious man, so he said goodbye. He took a club going nowhere to heights they have not reached for some time, he has done this with virtually every club he has managed. It will be interesting to see who recruits him next. He will be linked with lesser clubs but is unlikely to take anything that does not have genuine top 4 aspirations.
  13. Yes - weaken your team by selling you best players (Barry/Milner) to fund acquisitions of poorer players - sorry but I'm not surprised he was not in agreement with that.
  14. Annasfield Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Hasn't he thrown his toys out of the pram at Villa > before? Seem to remember reports that he'd quit > but it all seemed to get resolved. Is it not all part of the game managers play to get the funds they need? Suspect he was made some promises the last time which were not honoured later and he walked.
  15. Jury out on the Hodgson decison for me - lets see how he gets on. Not sure MON has left himself in a good position tho - the managerial merry go round has come to a stop. He must have been pretty peeved off to leave at this time.
  16. No - Lennon will do ok I reckon. Puts a bit of pressure on him though knowing MON is out of work. But O Neill may take a temporary post supporting Lennon in meantime, which would be good, who knows.
  17. lol Anna. He's not that bad.
  18. MARTIN O NEILL has parted company with Villa.........................
  19. We should be ?10m to the good this week when McGeady confirmed as leaving for Moscow so can also afford his wages. And he has played for the bhoys before, and needless to say - he luved it playing for the hoops.
  20. The ubiquitous Jimmy Nesbitt drinking in Franklins.
  21. Sports bookmakers have slashed odds on Celtic and Fulham landing Bellamy with Spurs moving out to 2/1, making lilywhites and Glasgow based clubs odds-on favourites to sign the well-travelled forward. SKY BET ODDS ON CRAIG BELLAMY?S NEXT CLUB: CELTIC ? 6/4 FULHAM ? 7/4 TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR ? 2/1
  22. I still want 23, I'm convinced its going to win.
  23. I wanted 23 - why was she allowed to go first?
  24. Karrie - I thought you didn't live here anymore?
  25. I saw a bike been "riden" from a house on crystal palace road tonight at 11.20ish. House with scaffolding. Not sure if it was the owner, looked a little suspicious though. Set off toards peckham.
