Me neither. Martin O Neills team were a passing team, with lots of width, very direct. Not particularly up and at em. If you don't like MON's style I guess you would not want him to get the Liverpool job?

Matt - Domestic trophies don't really give the answer - noone in Scotland thought Rangers were a better team than Celtic during this period. Celtic were unbeaten at home in 3 years under oneill including in Champions League. In 2003 for example Celtic beat many good teams incl. Liverpool in their UEFA cup run and lost 3-2 to Mourinhos Porto team in the final - they lost the league and cup to Rangers that year, but were streets ahead of Rangers - just did not have a big enough squad to compete on all fronts. Even McLeish would admit that his team that won the treble was well short of Celtic. But having seen your statistics I am slightly surprised - I did not think McLeish won as much as he did. O Neill won the league 3 times in his first 4 years and in the other year reached the uefa cup final allowing rangers to nip in and win the league on goal difference - it should really have been 4 in a row. Don't forget that Celtic were playing the top teams in europe mid week over this period. Martin O'Neill oversaw a record SEVEN consecutive wins over Rangers home and away. McLeish could not handle him. No contest. As for your original statement of McLeish getting to a CL Quarter final - thats incorrect - only Celtic have gotten out of the group stages in recent history (under gordon strachan).

Keane was nasty, end of. Now you have changed your wording - but of course I agree and accept that Keane did intend to hurt Haaland and hurt him badly (but in fact did not end his career). Its difficult to be that type of ball winning player and not have an element of thuggery about you - it used to be a tough business in the middle of the park (not so much now). Greame Souness or Steve McMahon would be Liverpool equivalents. Viera was more stylish but I'd much rather have Keane in my team than Viera. Keane's performance for Man United in the 1999 Champions League semi final against Juventus is as good am all round midfield performance as you are ever likely to see. He had everything.

Call me picky but I think you mis represented him - he did not maim another player as your original post suggested. Your most recent post is correct. Your original one is not. A lot of people believe Keane ended Haaland's career, but he did not, so I get annoyed if people continue to state it as if it is fact.

He is Santa in Ireland Brendan....you can call him whatever you want.

What's the trend? Less is more due to credit crunch? or generosity in adversity? My kids have expressed an interest in giving santa some brandy - and guess what we are planning to have some good stuff in for Christmas - and also, some rich dark chocolate to sit with it and maybe some good coffee. My kids don't ever know if they have done enough. - what else could they do for Santa? Obviously I'm independent. Suggest whatever you want, I'll just pay for the white bearded tosser to get drunk.

A woman's work is never done. . . That's why they get paid less. :))

I have concluded that if you order a burger and they then ask you how you would like it cooked, then it must be good meat. In which case I would order a burger as I like a good quality burger, good quality meat and cooked rare. In a restaurant in America.. Waitress: What would you like Sir? Me: If I order a burger are you going to ask how I would like it cooked? Waitress: How would you like your burger cooked Sir? Me: I'd like mine cooked rare please. Waitress: I'm sorry sir, we only do burgers "well done" [actually it was Canada, but I wanted to join in]

I think he felt the frustration in Ireland generally that they did not fix the roof when the sun was shining. The trouble is the sun had never shone before in Ireland quite the way it did for the last 10 years of the celtic tiger and noone had experience of a crash. Now the country is close to bankrupt and this guy is feeling the strain - but its not him who made the poor decisions - the country in general got ahead of iself. Unfortunately.

I have heard that Pedro Ximenez goes down very well.

I'm pleased for Birmingham City but I have to say I'm slightly surprised as Martin O'Neill was streets ahead of McLeish when they were both in Glasgow. Now they are both in Birmingham now and I guess MON is still ahead but with McLeish on the much smaller budget its difficult to say which is the bigger achievement. McLeish comes across as a nice gut but always has been a winner too, so well done to him. Birmingham as a city of 4? teams has never seen it so good - or not for a while anyway.

I have heard that welsh men ask their wives to wrap themselves in a sheepskin rug on their wedding night - anyone know if there is any truth in this?

Tw@t. > Atila - by "maim"ing I take it you mean alf-inge Haaland - Roy Keane did not end Haalands career with THAT tackle - Haalands career was ended by an injury to his other leg. So while Keane was guilty of many bad tackles, just to be clear, he did not end Haaland's career. If you checked your facts before making these statements you would know that.

great performance from west ham. There was there was only one team that deserved to win (and it was not chelsea). Great to hear the bubbles at the end. Every team should have an anthem like that one.
