  1. Ha ha no definitely nothing to share, Mr Crystal7 would have heart failiure! Pickle you're made of stronger stuff than me, I can only just about hold it together with 2! I'll just see how it goes I suppose, if he doesn't want to anymore then so be it. Hard not to feel a little rejected though and yes a little bit put out! Like Beagle I've recently gone back to work, it's a bit stressful and Im not looking after myself as well as I could be, lost a bit of weight etc so that could have something to do with it plus he's probably teething. Thanks for all the comments.
  2. Sounds great!
  3. Right. Baby has just turned 1 and for the last 2 mights has refused his bedtime breastfeed. He bit me when I offered him again- hard! I have only been feeding him first and last thing since he was about 9 months. He doesn't have any bottles, sometimes I offer him a bit of cow's milk in a cup. I'm not really sure what to do, is this the start of self weaning? He had a feed this morning by the way. His sister self weaned (I assume) when she was 16 months but that was shortly after I night weaned her whereas baby hasn't been fed at night for a while. Tried to pump last night but didn't get much, just don't want there to be nothing there if he changes his mind! Has anyone else experienced this sort of thing at a similar age? Did baby start feeding again? I was hoping to feed him as long as I did his sister... I will add that he is a big chubby boy and I'm not worried about him wasting away if he gives up breastfeeding, it's more that I wanted to feed him a bit longer if that doesn't sound to weird/needy/selfish...
  4. I'm pretty sure Clarks do them in smaller sizes unless things have changed. I think they have different styles up to a size 6. My daughter definitely had some in a 5 a few years ago. Check online, perhaps J Barnett don't stock them. You can order online then collect at a local store, I've done this at the Lewisham branch. Also try the ED Warehouse, they stock various brands as do Buff I'm Dulwich Village.
  5. I think you can only use Medela bottles on the pump, though on mini electric Medela you can pump directely into a storage bag. Hopefully someone will have some more useful advice, never did it very often!
  6. Ha ha HollieES, I thought that was something you told people to distract them from feeling sick?! p
  7. X posted with grotty! My youngest is definitely a bolter! But if it is on Tuesdays I will try...
  8. I went a few times when they just did Friday mornings and baby boy stayed in one place. It was fab, lovely setting, friendly staff, pastries and crumpets. As far as I remember there were baby toys and mats plus a few books. My 3 year old would probably be ok but not sure about newly walking escape artist baby. The door was closed I think but there's the bar and the bit of the restaurant not being used for the baby club. Lots of little babies on mats too...maybe someone else knows better? Might try it anyway one Tuesday.
  9. Thanks! That's what I wanted to hear sydneyswan. Short and stocky is how I'd describe my little one too....
  10. Sorry for the thread hijack. Thinking of getting a bee 2nd hand for me nearly 1 year old. He's a chubby little thing bless him, especially in his winter coat. Will he fit into the 2009 bee or will I have to splash more cash and get a bee+? He's not very tall (and unlikely to be!). Has anyone used 2009 bee for an older baby toddler? Thanks
  11. Evening Family Roomers. I've just returned to work after baby 2. I work 3 days and have 3.5 year old and nearly 1 year old on Mondays and Tuesdays. At the moment I'm finding my days 'off' a struggle. 3.5 year old gets bored quickly at soft play, park and playgroup Tyler activities unless she has a friend. Problem is her friends are either in am/pm nursery or have mums who work different days. We have tried a few classes which she enjoyed but baby's favourite passtime is destroying things and staggering around seemingly seconds away from injury, he needs constant supervision to prevent emptying shelves, climbing up and off thinds opening doors... Does anyone have any suggestions of things I can do with both of them?! Daughter very happy when we go to the park and she finds someone to play with but she is quite shy and won't just approach others, plus there don't seem to be many older toddlers around. Pm me if you are in a similar situation and would like to meet up! Thanks for reading...
  12. Oops forgot to mention rubbish FHR HVs, 2nd time round though I've just avoided them!
  13. I live near you jennyh and use Forest Hill Rd GPs, just because I never got around to changing to DMC when I moved. I have always managed to get a same day appointment for my children. It can take a while to get through on the phone (would never go down and queue though) and have had to be quite firm and say yes I definitely want to be seen today. A few times a Dr has called me and then asked me to come in. There are some fab drs too. I've had 2 homebirths with the Oakwood midwives and they were fab. Highly recommended.
  14. Midivydale there is an under threes area but I personally wouldn't bother until baby I is s bit older. It's so huge and noisy baby E was overwhelmed in spite of enjoying lots of rough Iplay from little E and being confident crawler/cruiser. He didn't enjoy it much. Plus the coffee is horrid and service at the cafe is awful. Try Peckham Pulse, smaller, closer and cheaper!
  15. I have been quoted 45-70. Pay ours 50 which includes all meals and snacks. We provide nappies and wet wipes. Some cms don't do food, personally I would rather pay more to postpone packed lunch making for a few more years! Not sure about siblings, worth asking though.
  16. Yep. Pure hell. My daughter's favourite place in the world though so we go now and then. Okish just after it opens on Sat am. Went once is school hols and it was awful. Was also 8 months pregnant and kept wondering if I'd be the first person to give birth there...
  17. Has anyone just gone back to work after having their 2nd child? And Finding it a total nightmare?! I've done 3 weeks and I'm spending every waking moment thinking about resigning! Feeling very stretched with 11 month old and 3 year old in different childcare so x 2 drop offs and pick ups. How on earth do people manage cooking dinner, cleaning, washing, spending quality time with each child?! Feeling a bit shell shocked and I am lucky enough to work 3 days per week. Might be easier if baby slept past 5am...Words of wisdom please! Am I just moaning?!
  18. Urgh we have the same and little E is so loud he wakes up E and we have 4 in a bed. I don't understand as it's so dark as you day. Little E has woken at 3.30 the last few nights and been awake for an hour then up for the day at 5.30. He seems to think v early is getting up time...I bring him into our bed which doesn't work, he just crawls around and puts his fingers in our mouths and laughs. He's so tired in the day because of it but doesn't seem to catch up with naps. Who knows?!
  19. Tumble at the Albrighton Centre is ?2 per child. It's a soft play group with ball pit, small bouncy castles and soft blocks. Clean equipment and friendly staff too. Bot sure how old your toddler is but mine was only interested in running around and opening and closing doors and climbing on things for ages. Expensive classes were a waste as she'd just be rattling the fire escape or running into the loos! When she was about 2.5/3 er started Diddi Dance which was fab and she actually got something from it, i.e. followed the instructions and danced. I think it's ?6 per class but she wouldn't have been ready for it before 2.5ish.
  20. Think Nappy Lady is spot on. Reading with children is so important and there are so many amazing books out there. It's nice to share poetry and non fiction as well as stories. My 3 year old loves Michael Rosen and the Oxford First poetry books. There's nothing wrong with talking about letter sounds (schools focus on this before letter names) especially if mini sb shows an interest. E loves spotting letters everywhere, road signs shops etc and numbers in front doors. We have some magnetic letters and and board (ELC) that E likes to 'write' her name with and sometimes she finds a letter and we say the sound. Jolly Phonics is not used in all schools but it's worth looking at the you tube clips. The problem is lots of schemed reading books are pretty dire! Apparently the Ministry of Letters is a good dvd, not tried it yet though.
  21. Seren was on our list for baby 2 also Flora. There are so many beautiful girl's names that have become so popular- Florence, Olivia, Iris. It's hard to find something unique.
  22. Glad you've just done that amydown. We have spent some time pottering around other areas in SE London. I like Crystal Palace but a quick look at ofsted reports at local schools didn't seem promising. Of course someone may know better... Has anybody moved to Brockley? It's cheaper, on ELL and has more varied housing stock than ED but there didn't seem to be much there?! Hilly Fields park was quite nice though. Sydenham? Honor Oak and Forest Hill are becoming as expensive as ED... Looking elsewhere has made me realise how convenient ED is, especially with small children. Gorgeous parks, you can buy just about anything you need, cafes, places to go on rare nights out. We've been spoilt. *scuttled off to persuade OH that we only need 2 bedrooms really*
  23. Love the name Silas, good literary connection. Think Wilfred would go with Reuben. Some great names suggested here. Also like Isaac and Gideon. Rollo was on our list for baby 1 (who turned out to be a girl) but we went off it for some reason. BST I love E names and have 2, was worried it might sound a bit twee but think it works. My boy's name is quite unusual but also old testament. We are often asked if we're religious, we're not just love the name...
  24. Took us ages to decide on a boy's name! We could only agree on one, luckily it seems to suit baby 2. So much harder than girl's names for some reason. I like Casper, Wilf and Theo...
