  1. if it was a legal breed then it could have been a rescue dog, in which case Monty's last owner may not have been responsible for its disposition - as a rescue dog of this type it might have been initially trained as a fighting dog - these are 'given' small dogs by their trainers to practice on (which is what can happen to small breeds which are stolen - dreadful thought). If the dog was later abandoned and 'rescued' it may already have been trained to attack small dogs, and simply have reverted in this dreadful incident. (I don't believe that dogs known to have been trained to fight are put up for rescue, but an abandoned stray without a history might be). I know a number of people with rescue dogs, some of these have led very hard early lives and can be untrainable regarding some habits. I would have assumed (and know) that rescue centres do valuations on rescue dogs to see what their behaviour is like in diferent situations i.e. with kids, food, aggression etc before they rehome it to anyone and if they feel if the dog is too aggressive then they would have to make the decision to put the animal to sleep. I would guess that no rescue centre would rehome a dog if they believed it posed a risk at all.
  2. greece, rhodes to be exact and place called Pefki Islands resort is lovely.
  3. so is it normal for this bug to go within 24-48 hours because i have had it since wed evening/early thursday morning and still cant shift it. I thought it had gone but then early this morning it started up again. My daughter has had it since last week and is slowly getting better.
  4. I found when i was pregnant and feeling nauseas that fizzy vimto helped me!
  5. silly i know but wanted to know what people use to get rid of stains on baby clothes, mostly food as i cant seem to shift some stains especially fruit and wondered if anyone used something especially for baby food. Its driving me mad as alot of my daughters clothes are getting ruined
  6. sorry i meant to say that certain adult ones are fine for fluroide in them for kids. Apparenty mild ones like sainsburys, tescos own brands are fine for kids
  7. yeah my daughter stands up but shes not a light baby so sometimes find it hard to pick her up!!
  8. Just wondered what age people moved their child from a cot into a cotbed? My daughter is 16 months old (is big for her age) and I am struggling to sometimes even lean over to get her out of the cot. Also i am worried she may try to climb out of the cot (head first!).
  9. my 16 month old daughter was absolutely fine after her jabs!!
  10. i was advised by a professional at playgroup that you should use adult toothpaste but only certain brands for kids as the kids toothpaste is not good. Think sainsburys, tescos own ones are fine as doesnt have too much fluroide in them
  11. usually the security guards working in shops like sainsburys are actually contracted from a company outside of the store which means the are nothing to do with the store itself
  12. I thought you were not allowed to eat nuts whilst being pregnant!!
  13. My daughter had her BCG when she was around 8 months old. Nothing to worry about apart from a blister but its ok now. I was told that they are giving BCG's early these days instead of at school (when i had mine) cos of so many new diseases etc out there now
  14. can i just ask who told you it was not advisable for you to be involved in weaning kittens in your condition?
  15. We bought one for our daughter but didnt end up using it as she was in a moses basket next to our bed for the first few months and by the time she went into her own cot, she didnt wake in the night, so although they are good, ours just sat in the corner of the room and is now in the box in the loft
  16. sorry as much as i like foxes, the last couple of days have not been good. they have stolen my daughters shoes, clothes from the garden. Managed to find one ripped shoe in a neighbours garden and then this morning i came down to find my leather coat in the kitchen with one arm completely ripped to shreds. Wondering whether to contact London Zoo for some lion poo!!
  17. Well not sure if all foxes go into houses but i know the ones that are in our garden do come in thru our cat flap to help themselves to the cat food.
  18. We used to give our daughter either little star yoghurts or wheetabix (quite mushy). She still loves both to this day and shes 1.
  19. we bought a bouncy castle from argos for our daughters 1st birthday party at home. It had a ball pit attached to it (which could also be filled with water) and we had our sand pit and a bubble machine. The bouncy castle and ball pit kept the kids entertained for ages (even the older kids) and the alcohol and bbq food kept the adults entertained too
  20. Congratulations on your baby but sorry to hear it wasnt a nice experience. Please make sure that you complain as i think some people just dont bother and it needs to be done so that the hospitals know of the situations. What did you call your son?
  21. just leave them alone. They are not the only animals who make annoying noises. we have a family of foxes who reside in a garden a few doors down. they also make loud noises and its usually to communicate with each other.
  22. We bought a baby beanbag from argos and our daughter slept in that when she was downstairs with us. She loved it as it moulded into her shape and was very comfortable
  23. Our daughter was in a moses basket in our bedroom for about the first 5-6 months and then she went into her cot in her own room. didnt have any problems as we first put the moses basket in the cot to get her used to the room.
  24. I would definitely say I am like my mother in lots of ways. Unfortunately she passed away a month before I found out i was pregnant and I remember in my little note about her at her funeral saying that when i have kids I will take all of what she has taught me and make sure my child is brought up the way i was as she was a great mum. Now I have my own daughter, i find myself thinking "would my mum have done that etc" and if I think she would then I do it i.e. like give my daughter certain foods etc.
  25. We started our daughter on sma gold which didnt agree with her so went onto Cow and Gate which still didnt agree with her so we finally settled on Aptimal and we have had no problems with it whatsoever. It is apparently the closest to breast milk. Alot of people i have spoken to were told by their doctors to use that formula as it is very good.
