Hey ???? - you are being a bit of a little dick here - these people are doing a great job under severe conditions and our esteemed Mr Gove carried out a serious undermining exercise which must have been very morale sapping. We owe teachers a lot - they are the hope of the next generation. Not only do they teach, they babysit, they have to be counselors for both the children & parents, they have to be watchful that all the children are not being abused somewhere. They are rebuffed by the department all the time which appears to be run by Atilla the Hun clones. Teachers have enough to do without having to worry about their job security at the same time. Their 'holiday' is not spent playing around in the park - they have to design teaching plans, review each pupil's progress, organise their teaching modules, keep up with course changes, etc. etc & more etc ???? - compassion will never cause you any problem in your life & you are just too judgmental !
  10. I don't feel she is so smug - just very reserved & possibly a bit shy; but she has a certain steely determination about her that is needed now in Europe. The smug one is Gove - I cannot percieve any redeeming feature in the guy. He is intelligent & clever but shows no empathy or capacity to meet others half way. HAS DISAGREED WITH ALMOST EVERYONE HE HAS WORKED WITH ! Not consensual so would find it very hard to negotiate in Brussels which is the capital of compromise.
  11. 476 signatures with 449 from the UK; the rest are from abroad
  12. Sometimes in life it is not enough to just accept the status quo - it is necessary to consider the greater good and reject the greater damage even if it means going against the grain. Could it be at all possible that the MPs might have the moral courage to see beyond Brexit and vote to stay in the EU ? There is easily a good case to be made based on the naked deceit employed by the Leave campaigners, now openly admitted by them - Farage, IDS, Gove & others almost laughing at the electorate for being such mugs. I think it is time for these representatives to step up to the plate & make the hard mature decision for once in their existence, realize what their responsibility really lies - in parliamentary democracy which is how the UK has been governed for centuries. Parliamentary sovereignty is paramount & was hard fought for & defended with great loss of lives and Parliament is a good place to make these type of decisions. This is an extraordinary situation that we find ourselves in and it demands extraordinary action. Reject Brexit & history will applaud you along with all right thinking people across the world. If an MP might lose their seat they will have the greater value of being able to look themselves in the mirror for the rest of their lives and be proud & comfortable that they put their country before themselves unlike BJ who walked out of that room casually as if he hadn't a care in the world.

  15. [No petition like this - only the original one] Apologies - not correct. Any petition must not be similar to an existing petition
  16. https://ukconstitutionallaw.org/2016/06/29/richard-ekins-the-legitimacy-of-the-brexit-referendum/ This is worth reading & probably is what will sway MPs to stick to the Brexit proposition. I don't agree always with learned opinion as it doesn't always reflect real life or good sense. The law quite often [not sometimes] can be an ass.
  17. They will have to debate it anyway, so we should try to get the petition to call for what we want - opt out of Brexit. I'm open to any wording - suggestions ?
  18. The 1922 committee has set September 2nd as the date of appointment of the new PM
  19. https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/check We need to have 5 email addresses to post the petition
  20. We the undersigned call upon all MPs to vote to remain in the European Union.

Both channels are subject to being hijacked but we might have more control over a website as we could block multiple votes from the same IP address. This also has some problems as this would also bar legitimate voters, say, husband wife & older children, people voting from the same business location & so on. Maybe the parliamentary petition is best as it has its inherent legitimacy and they can sort the good from the bad.

  23. If it came to a straight vote of MPs, Brexit would fail. However, many MPs would adopt the moral high ground & vote for Brexit for many diverse reasons. Some from conviction & respect to the referendum result & others afraid to lose their seats in the next election as their electorate might turn on them. Farage would have apoplexy - possibly fatal, one upside ! However it is up to parliament and he could go to all the courts in the land and fail. I think this is the strategy that the EU are engaged in - putting so much pressure on the UK to wake the legislators up and see sense to vote Brexit down.
