  1. Afternoon, Keef. I don't have the time or inclination to get into a debate on the forum (as it is a slow process made even slower by my typing skills) relating to your views of 'The Bishop', notably that you thinks it's shite. I would however like to invite you to discuss it over a pint, at my expense and your convenience. My email is [email protected] cheers, Scott
  2. what about the plague of minis that will be upon us. Parking is pretty dire at the moment....
  3. yes, work will start end of january '08. Concentrating on freshening up the downstairs first, it has been hammered over the last 2 1/2 years. New air con just installed, with a few more tricks up sleeve...
  4. service was a little under par on saturday because we had no idea it was going to be quite so busy.....sorry
  5. have thought about grass. Have a look a the lawn at the herne, you will see why i will not be turfing... Tillie, peroni is expensive because it is exactly the same product (brewed in italy)in a bottle as it is on draught. Everybody pays ?3 for a 330ml bottle. So for a pint (568ml) one should expect to pay ?5.16...............however no bottling needs to pay be paid for..... ?3.60 a pint is good value. It is a cracking lager with really nice glassware. Peroni themselves are recommending ?3.80. ?3.60 at the bishop, came on yesterday. The florence opens midday on tuesday.....
  6. Keef, have just pit in a brand new beer dispense system at the bishop, with peroni being installed on draught this week. Pop in and let me know what you think . Scott
  7. Tillie, I do not have an auntie called Jean Smith to my knowledge. Where is she from ? JAMMA, Ganley's is not becoming a gastropub. Gastropubs tend to be restaurants within pub buildings. They charge restaurant prices, are devoid of atmosphere and one tends to not feel comfortable drinking without eating. If you have been to any of my other pubs I can guarantee you will not recognise any of these traits. The Brockwell Park Tavern was owned by the Ganley family. It was they who transformed it into 'Ganley's', if it had been working as the BPT they would not have changed it. If had been working as 'Ganley's' they would not have sold it. If the foresters had been working it would ot have been given to me... Do you see where this is going ? Regards
  8. Yes, I have bought Ganley's. Yes, the 'door supervisors' are a license stipulation. No, you should not be scared to visit fri & sat evening (although it is always very busy). No, it is not full of braying rahs (the bishop gets the most diverse and balance crowd out of all my pubs). No, i am not worked into the ground. 'Ganley's' (new name not quite decided) will open 29th may and will have an onsite brewery. I ain't seen one of them in starbucks....
  9. Jeremy , jeremy, jeremy. The genuine apology went straight to Mark (the original poster), when this was new news. He mentions it early on in the thread. Out of all the people commenting here I am almost certainly the only one who has been infected by the aforementioned muck. I Was barely able to walk, summer before last, after getting excrement in an open wound whilst walking Clarence on the very same green. I did not leave a steaming anything , anywhere, knowingly. If you walk a dog (with cheetah like agility) four or five times a day, for an average of 20 mins per walk. The likely hood of him nipping out of your sight, or of me being distracted, is moderate to high. Not ideal, granted. Maybe the stocks would be a fitting punishment. We could even let Tom throw from a little closer (give him a fighting chance). To everyone else thank you for your replies. Let's hope we can end this here. What about a new thread 'customers of the kebab shops, who leave their leftovers on the streets for mischievous dogs to eat. Making the naughty canine sick and rendering it's stools uncollectable'
  10. Ganley's will not become a 'gastropub'. Just as 'the bishop' is not a 'gastropub'. It will be a pub with a modern approach, over 30 beers and a micro brewery. Don't get much pubbuier than that i hope.
  11. The Bishop welcomes children with open arms. Always has. They can stay as long as parents see fit.
  12. Is there anybody who uses this forum who thinks being plain rude (I have been called: BALD, a C*** and a W@nker) is this an acceptable medium of communication ? This is delightful. I wish i had found the chatroom earlier. Tom ,perhaps you should do a little more indepth research before you ghost my autobiography working title 'nasty big man who drives a scary car, who smells' (should be out in all good bookshops by christmas). To everyone else on the site with manners , I apologise unreservedly about my failure to track my VERY VERY fast dog's every single move.
