We have had it here... M vomited for exactly 12h from 11pm on fri to 11am Sat... T vomited from 2pm yesterday till 2am this morning. C who never gets ill was sick once in the early hours and once mid morning. I seem to have escaped it so far. I'd guess the incubation is 36-48h I'd be inclined just to get on with life as normal and hope she gets it sooner rtaher than later if she's going to... go round and spray allthe door handles and hard surfaces with antibac spray

Last January we had the awful exoperience of twin nno 2 having a convulsion, and after rushing to hospital by ambulance requiring a cherst xray, blood and urine tests and an awful lumbar puncture and high dose IV antibiotics, 6 days as an inpatient with a serious kidney infection This was despite me taking her to seldoc as I was worried at her having a fever and vomitting for more than 5 days As a re3sult of this terrible experience, I am now something of an expert on the NICE guidelines on fever in babies - namely that investigations are required after 5 days+ of unexplained fever Fast fwd a year and twin I has a prolonged fever. I take him to seldoc on day 6 and day 8, both times they say it is prob a virus. and viruses can last up to 10 days. I KNEW this wasn't right and took him to a&e on day 10, they did a chest xray, bloods, urine test (thank goodness held off on the lumbar puncture) Turned out he has pneumonia. Now,once might be an excusable, but to miss potentially life threatening diseases in TWO of my children, not suggesting tests which the NICE guidelines recommend... !!

School Waiting Lists - there is hope!!
Fuschia replied to clux's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Vangough, you can apply to any school but they offer places in priority order.. for popular schools after siblings and special cases this is limited to children for whom it's their closest southwark school/and within that, by proximity the next criteria is distance -

All inclusive in Egypt... 5 1/2h away... had fab time with our 6yo and 7m old twins -
I think your best bet might be a nanny share.. see if someone whose nanny isn't busy at that time might take your little one for a few hours. I would suggest advertising on here to see if anyone has a nanny on a Weds who might be up for taking another child for a little while...

Been there many times. Cashpoints all over these days. Take a day trip out to snorkel (remember the beach is sandy, ie not a snorkelling spot!) there are hotels closer to the reef if yo're not booked already qu7ad biking in the desert is fun therwise, it all revolves round the sea

A "complex sugar" is a starchy carbohydrate (ie not what we commonly think of as sugar) Do parents really limit access to carbs? Most children I know are carb-monsters!

We were given a detailed written account of life in Ulverscroft Rd by the grandchild of an early resident... pre 2ww. Fascinating stuff and I have meant to dig it out and scan it and share it. -

On a weekday morning for 9.30am - am i better to use public transport or to drive? Would traffic be terrible? If I decide to go via train from Paddington, what's the best way to get to Paddington? I can't really nadle crowed tubes or anywhere I need to stand up for long as I have low blood pressure and have a tendency to faint (hence why I would prefer to drive)

whats a breastfeeding counsellor and where do we get one?
Fuschia replied to iaineasy's topic in The Family Room Discussion
You don't need to read anything into my post... I just said how i would have felt if my partner had suggsted formula to me when we had difficulties ... men like to "fix"things I know but sometimes what a mother doesn't want is for formula to be proposed... othertimes, maybe she does (just think what applies in your partner's case.. some mothers may like "permission" to add formula or stop bf.. some, just the opposite) And it's true what Molly said.. often if formula has been introduced, more and more is given at each growth spurt, and bf gradually ceases.. again, that's fine if you only planned to bf for a short while, but less satisfactory if you wanted to bf longer. By all means make your choice knowing your family... but make it an informed choice... often these paranring decisions have implications beyond the immediately obvious ones.
