  8. I am not a great believer in Pushing independence onto small babies but I think as children grow, learning various skills is an important part of them gaining confidence in their own abilities. However this needs you to set them up to succeed - allow plenty of time, break the task into small steps, teach them the tricky bits or use a song, mnemonic etc to helP them get things in the right order, make sure clothes are simple. It's the same mindset that in the park encourages them to climb etc You can do it! Well done! Bit like a mother bird teaching the little ones to fly (everything short of actually pushing them out of the best!) :-)
  9. There isn't any pool anywhere as warm as the Peckham hydro pool sadly. Though putting the baby in a wetsuit is a help
  10. Get dressed before breakfast or tv Both get dressed together Make sure clothes are loose and simple Allow a lot of extra time Dont step in and help If she is very slow, take the outside layers such as socks, shoes, jumper and pop tg By the front door then leave early ... As she gets to the door, if you Pause to put your own shoes on, she should hurry If she dilly dallies, just proceed slowly ... With my children, if I actually go out into the front garden they all cone hopping out after me dragging their coats and forcing their feet into their boots as they go The trick at first is easy clothes though Pull on trousers Large polo shirt - age 6 Age 6 sweatshirt Loose socks
  11. Om, I lost count of the number of times the queue moves so slowly I have mussed 10-15 mins from swimming or softplay at Peckham And the hydro pool is open for such a short time each day in the holidays, compared with other pools I spent yesterday calling Peckham to see what times were on. No answer. No info on website. Fusion head office had no info and couldnt get through either! After 5 hours I gave up and called forest hill who answered right away and said they were open all day So we went there today

  16. Perhaps ask the gp if you can try an antihistamine if you are worried about the steroids? There are drugs to dry up Mucus in adults but don't think they are ok for children. Problem is the mucus and draining is a natural part of the immune system, isn't it ... Or if an allergy that's tricky Dedust her bedroom, pull everything out and hoover everywhere (do you gave carpet?) and hot wash all the bedding Hoover the mattress, put on a waterproof cover Try one of those air filter things? Hot shower before bed, lots of steam? Prop up the head of the bed?
  17. With mine, hfm was a rash inside the mouth mostly plus bottom of feet and palms It could be chicken pox, malaise and runny nose followed by small red spots that turn into yellow blisters Or slapped cheek - red patches on cheeks in particular I would call seldoc to get their advice, ESP as she is so young Poor little lamb How is she in herself?

  24. My understanding is that the brain actually changes at about 4m, and sleep patterns never return to the newborn ones, though that's not to say you're stuck with the disordered patch you are going through right now
