  1. Having been knocked off my bike in the summer (by another cyclist and on a cycle path), I would urge every cyclist to wear a helmet. I was knocked out and spent several hours at King's being stitched, X rayed and CTed ( not in that order). Had it not been for the helmet, things would have been a lot worse. As it was I drove my nearest and dearest mad asking the same questions over and over again for at least 3 hours, after that I began to remember what I had said but I still don't remember what happened in the accident, or how I managed to ring my relatives to let them know what had happened. Fortunately a witness rang for an ambulance and waited until my daughter arrived. Definitely wear a helmet!
  2. Dear Sue I really am very sorry, I misinterpreted your post. I was probably a bit stressed out by the whole thing. I have emailed the address and will post when I get a reply. Again very sorry LL
  3. Thinking about it, I'm pretty sure it isn't about parking spaces...there is only one person around this area who "protects" his space by putting his bins out but nobody challenges it as there are usually other places to park, so I don't understand it at all. But/and it is annoying and expensive!
  4. Maybe we should report to the neighbourhood crime team? can someone give me a number please? Thanks
  5. One of my tyres was slashed overnight...same area of CPR...
  6. We really like the current quizmaster and go most weeks with limited success..but it is great fun!
  7. I also have problems with the water pressure....the electric shower is just about OK but will go very hot or cold suddenly (with no other water being used in the house), but the (combi)boiler won't fire up for a bath. But it's all fine at the weekend when we all get up later. I live in Crystal Palace Rd - Lordship Lane end
  8. I've heard of 4 who were approached and threatened or mugged on their way to school in Dulwich last week....
  9. I've just remembered.....on the corner of Blackwater St, where Mrs Robinson is now, was a gas fireplace showroom.Celestial Studios opened up around that time in the courtyard/shops in Blackwater St behind where Wiiliam Rose is now.
  10. The toy/pram shop where Property In is now was called Hey Diddle Diddle, run by a lady called Hilary. There was a Place bakeries near Bells kitchen shop, and one where Badger bakeries is now. LL
  11. Hi All I have looked at all the posts, and thank you for your support. My son is OK and now uses a different route to come home. The police are in touch and we will talk to them again tomorrow. I put this on the site as a warning to other parents to alert their children to be extra careful, not to be scaremongering. I have rarely posted before, and will think twice before I do again due to the negative comments! (albeit from one person). I had the IMEI number and alerted both the service provider and the police of this within a couple of hours, but that doesn't stop my son feeling a bit helpless, (and me worrying), or wondering whether it will happen again. And no, he doesn't flash the cash or the phone. LL
  12. It happened on Dulwich Common close to the pedestrian crossing before the gate to the park. And many thanks to the lady who called the police, she really helped.
  13. My son (aged 14), was mugged on his way home from school last night, at about 4. Three boys approached him aged about 17. He gave up his phone and then gave chase. There was a witness who phoned the police and they then drove round looking for the culprits but couldn't find them. The police have been great and so have school but be warned...this happened on the South Circular in broad daylight! He is fine BTW, just shaken.
  14. The 40s now say they are going to the Library/Plough! LL
  15. I was merely referring to the hill. And the parking around Ashbourne Grove/Melbourne Grove etc is awful..I can never get to the bank....I used to live in Blackwater St and it was bad then (many years before W Rose). LL
  16. In East dulwich (lower) the parking is dreadful, it is very hard to park to go to opticians etc. I know that "outsiders" park in the side streets and then get buses to King's as the parking around there has got so bad....In ED (upper, ie near the library) it is not bad, except first thing in the morning when all the scaffolders etc go to the cafe!
  17. Amazingly I came home from work today and found a blue "while you were out" card, even better the opening times of the sorting office have changed for Christmas...open at 6.30am and closing at 17.30 (Ithink, might even be later). So went along and collected my package, the postie said the new hours were in response to complaints last year! Hope this helps LL
