  1. Thanks I will check it out I'm starting to panic I have left it too late some have a two year waiting list!
  2. I would say 8 to 10 an hour is usual but if it's cash in hand you might want to just pay her the same as for the gardening? Anyone else?
  3. Good advice about taking the details of the bus I will definitely do that if It happens again. The bus was busy and I had 3 children a scooter and a cricket bag the size of me! For some reason the driver refused to move the bus until I put the (fairly small) scooter in the luggage rack. Then I had the issue of trying to retrieve it before I got off the bus leaving my 2 year old in the buggy being held up by the five year old while the ten year old held the cricket bag and then back to the back doors as ofcourse no way we would have been let out the front. It just made an already stressful journey much worse. I have been using the buses with this scooter for the last 4 years and NEVER has a driver asked me to do that. I always hook it on the buggy or sit with it. Really it was bizarre and all done in such an unpleasant manner
  4. Oh no I'm going to look round there this week, no surprise they had places then! Anyone know of any that have a year or less waiting list?
  5. Thanks zeban! Yes Anna I'm sure it is him, I've come across the odd grumpy driver (def have to put up with alit of crap from the public im sure!) but most of them are lovely and helpful. This guy is just unbelievably aggressive on purpose
  6. I love the phil and ted single to double but I also have a good old maclaren, there not as trendy but you just can't beat them for value for money!
  7. Today he was on the p4 going through Dulwich village but I've also come across him on the 37 when I've been going from east Dulwich to herne hill. He is a just a mean spirited individual I shouldn't let him get to me!
  8. I think you probably are supposed to pay tax but discuss it with whoever you are interviewing they may be more than happy to take cash in hand I'm sure it isnt unusual especially if it is a second income
  9. Wow bet you can have loads of fun in London with 60 quid a week not! That reminds me of that documentary years ago wrongly named 'nightmare nannies' (they were all au pairs)where this mum was shocked and appalled that her aupair was moonlighting as a hooker! That really tickled me! Most families are fair and friendly but if you don't help them to make a little extra money you can't expect them to be very happy
  10. Absolutely livid after yet another run in with this woman hating bully! He is late fifties , slim with grey hair and beard and routinely delights in making young mums getting on his bus feel as intimidated as possible. I know the majority of b drivers and men in general are lovely but this man really gets me angry! It's not even that he is a jobsworth and I am more than happy to stick to the rules it's more in his vile attitude. You most likely would know if you've come across him, my first run in with him when I was heavily pregnant reduced me to tears. I know there's nothing to be done but I really felt I needed a rant!
  11. In fairness I haven't been for a while so maybe it is warmer since people complained
  12. last time i popped into the plough a few weeks ago i was told parents with children were only allowed on one side now, the side with the steps down to the lower bit so not ideal! Normally i like to sit quietly on the otherside but is difficult to pursuade a toddler that they cant go up and down the steps. Incidently i was about the only person in there which made it a little strange being told i was confined. Gavin any more info on this strange new rule?
  13. when i do after school work i get paid more per hour than if i was working the whole day as the hours are quite short. Sometimes people only have a cleaner for 2 or 3 hours and they can probably only fit in 2 jobs a day unless the houses are especially close together. I think the wage reflects these things rather than the importance of the job.
  14. i have only taken my toddler twice as it was soooooo blimin cold! they keep saying the temp is fine but my two year old was nearly blue after half an hour even in a full suit. Really disappointed with it.
  15. So sad, it was being said when I walked past that it was a young girl but I didn't want to repeat that last night if incorrect and also as I didnt think the parents would of been informed by then. I couldn't stop thinking about it since, every parents worst nightmare.
  16. Whole of herne hill road shut no buses running would avoid if possible.
  17. Lol! Just ignore people like newmother someone who would most likely resent her child carer for genuinely enjoying her job and then shock horror wanting to get paid for it too, the cheek! No you don't need a degree to be a nanny But the fact is if you pay peanuts.....
  18. Most definitely the baby whisperer and what to expect in the first year!
  19. Maybe you could go and see an ear nose and throat specialist if you are really worried, having looked after lots of babies some just do snore like old men but might be worth getting it checked out.
  20. I think it all depends how much time your baby will spend in the buggy, I'm a nanny and a mummy and also I don't drive. My daughter used to spend ALOT of time in the buggy so parent facing was a must. I have a second hand bugaboo bee. My daughter is nearly 2 and walks alot of the time now although I still have it in the parent facing position it is just so much easier wiping runny noses etc etc!

  22. If littleEDfamily or anyone wants to pm me about this feel free I would not be bored!
  23. I was just diagnosed with joint hypermobility syndrome formally know as EDS type 3. I had no problems till my first pregnancy when I got spd and although I was told it would go after the birth it actually got worse affecting more joints than just my pelvis. I didn't find out what was wring with me till I went to a podiatrist because of ankle and foot pain. I also go on the hypermobility forum. I understand that spd in pregnancy is common with EDS. I suffer alot of pain with it and it can be very frustrating as on the outside you look fine. Luckily not everyone suffers pain from being hypermobile but I would say find out as much as you can about how to prevent problems in the future.
  24. I've been a nanny for over 10 years and usually if it is for a family I an working for (rather than a one off through an agency) I agree a flat rate before so it isn't ludicrously expensive for you but still well worth your nanny giving up her weekend!
