Cool! Informative in a 'teachy' way all at the same time lol. Why haven't I seen this site before!!! ruffers Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > This easy?
  2. dulwich park cafe seem to have something on on monday daytime. Guessing it would be suitable for younger child. As others have said, more usual to do something with local friends/ trick or treat in your street etc.
  3. 52 goed from victoria to top of exhibition road. Walk down from there to museum takes 5 mins - avoids the stairs in the tube station if u have a buggy. Tips from someone who works there - go early then head to the things you really want to do - launch pad??? Interactive galleries etc first. heaving usually by late morning. Then do some of the 'quieter' galleries whilst everyone else queues for the more 'popular. Stuff. Cafes busy at lunch time.
  4. I have leaflets etc for Plan - good to hear your good reports of it kristymac1. Its always been one of those things I say I'll get round to and haven't. Will do now. Just wish I could help those two children ...
  5. Look forward to hearing when the meeting is!
  6. Well. I don't know if anyone else saw this image (see the 3rd image down, comment above it) on the Daily Mail website yesterday? It made me cry. I think it was taken 2-3 years ago so god knows how/where the two boys are now. If I knew or could find out I'd do whatever was needed to help the family. I've been meaning to sponsor a child for a while so no putting it off any longer. Anyway, it made me think about how lucky most of our children (and we) are ... http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2052475/Entries-years-Environmental-Photographer-Year-Competition.html
  7. I'd also like to support however I can. And look forward ot hearing more from Gavin too! Helen
  8. Is this why we've started to get cars actually parking on the grass verge on the bike/pedestrian path - i.e not the path down to the car park but the bollarded off path? It's beginning to pi** me off. Surely its illegal? Anyone know for sure?

  10. Well - I counted 7 wheelies outside one properly on Barry Road. Is that a record??? I'm extremely happy to be able to recycle more - TetraPak's etc - hurrah!!! BUT, do wonder why we need to many large bins?? What do they do on the continent - in general recycling rates seem to be higher and I don't ever see their roads etc. clogged up with bins - or maybe I've just never looked or noticed. Anyone know??? I'd love to see stricter rules on packaging around goods so we don't get so much of the damn stuff in the first place. Maybe I will start leaving it at the supermarket - is that legal??? Helen
  11. Hhhm. I'd just like to be able to afford to buy somewhere to get stressed about doing up ... Good luck though - sure there will be lots of interested people. H
  12. Ditto - also sorry to hear it!
  13. Wow - went last night. Thought it was the best show in quite a few years. If you've not been, then there's only tonight at 6 - last show! My lot all loved it.
  14. And I'll retract 'where's the style'. Its too early and I'm snipey. hpsaucey Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Sorry - rephrase- my comment was aimed at the > general tone and feel of some of the responses to > the OP. > > hpsaucey Wrote: > -------------------------------------------------- > ----- > > Umm - where's the the style? > > And good - glad you're not in the habit of > > 'picking off' targets, although my comment was > > aimed at the thread in general not you in > > particular. > > > > Frankito Wrote: > > > -------------------------------------------------- > > > ----- > > > I am not trying to disprove anything, merely > > > asking for more details as, to me, it's all a > > bit > > > woolly. > > > > > > And Saucy, My intention certainly isn't to > > 'pick > > > off' any target....... 16. Umm - where's the the style? And good - glad you're not in the habit of 'picking off' targets, although my comment was aimed at the thread in general not you in particular. 17. read this on and off over the past 5 years and its often in use! Great outlook and tips without making you feel inadequate. This looks like a new edition. Always get stuck on the anger chapter lol! Anyone read any of her other books?
  18. God - can we give the OP a break please! Most people get an intuitive feeling about a situation and I'm guessing - yes just guessing - I wasn't there - that this happened to the OP. Surely there are better targets to pick off on this forum if you're really in the mood for it than someone who's had a bottle thrown at them? Yours - frustrated at the emerging tone of the thread, Helen
  19. Um - no. Just don't like having my words misinterpreted. If you mean me with the hysteria,?? I think the last time I was accused of that, being fairly longish in the tooth, was in 1999, or maybe at 'Pull the Other One recently' lol! 20. Cafe's OK - good cake! Quite weekend - maybe you need a dog to keep yourself busy with today lol! You're right though - I've definitely been spending too much time on here. 21. THANK YOU Senor Chevalier - for reading my post properly and a measured response to Frankito. FRANKITO - as SC said, I was saying that your two ARE responsible but, from personal experience THERE ARE OTHERS THAT AREN'T. Think the credibility of my post stands somehow! Please re-read it! 22. I'm sorry but this just ISN'T always true! You have 'experience of two' and I am glad that MOST are responsible, but there are a few others who aren't so responsible. I've seen packs of 6 or so jumping into the Japanese garden and no attempt made to recall them where they ran through someone's picnic and kiddies. I've also seen a dogwalker apparently unaware of the affect her group of 4-5 dogs were having on the young child in a buggy that they were surrounding which was fairly terrified - and again, no attempt to call them back. Maybe you'd say they obviously weren't 'professional' and that may be true but they're still using the park. 23. I'm not afraid of dogs, but have had a couple of occasions with dog walkers who have been walking maybe 6-8 dogs and obviously been totally unable to control them! I'm sure this is an uncommon occurrence, and wouldn't want to give dog walkers a bad name, but I was uneasy, let along my two young kiddies who were pretty upset. I do understand that it is sometimes difficult to stop a dog jumping over these low fences in both the Japanese garden and the picnic area. Most people ... but not all ... retrieve their dogs relatively fast. I am sorry you had a bad experience!
  24. Really nice man at the photographer's/picture frame seller on Lordship Lane did mine. Took photos until he was sure we had the right one for a passport application. Reasonable too. Somewhere between SOupdragon and Acorn Estates - near the jewelery shop. Not sure if open Sunday though.
  25. Interesting initiative here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-glasgow-west-14516793
