I think it is worth bearing in mind that most, if not all, foot soldiers engaged in door-to-door proselytising (presumably) genuinely believe that they are attempting to save the souls of those they approach, an activity which - within the context of their belief system - is a worthy and altruistic service to their fellow man. For many people their entire raison d'?tre is predicated upon their religious beliefs - (I think) non-believers often fail to appreciate how much comfort and need is fulfilled and how much pain and sorrow is ameliorated by those beliefs.

No, I've been networking with SAL, my bi-sexual co-processor.

IIRC the forum Pink Drinks were organised by badger. Strawbs organises the monthly lesbian drinks at the Rye.

The OP may be referring to GO appearing to be flying at half-mast (at the bottom of the page) - although it might just be the shiny lining of his jacket catching the light - it's not clear.

You don't boil them in an electric kettle, by any chance?

Apparently, a small mezuzah holder attached to the door post will repel most evangelising Christian sects.

There's a vociferous faction out there (i.e. on the web: see here) who believe that Bush et al were manipulated into invading Iraq on behalf of Zionist interests. Unfortunately, any discussion involving Zionism tends to attract hoards of religious conspiracy theorists that makes it difficult to winnow the wheat from the chaff.

Sounds daft but is it true? It could be true. I'm not up-to-date with the latest circuit designs but traditional chargers route A/C through a step down transformer continuously while plugged in. When unloaded (i.e. not charging) power drains away through impedance-induced heat and EM radiation emissions.

If that genre is inhabited by fantasy playmates like Seven of Nine, T'Pol or Kira Nerys (et aliae) I might consider it.

This thread has made me realise that I spend quite a lot of time fantasising about Star Trek mirror-universe evil twin lipstick lesbian aliens in the grip of pon farr who must seduce me in order to save the Galaxy from being swallowed up by a black hole.

I posted something that was mistakenly interpreted as homophobic a while back but was able to refudiate the allegation without revealing my sexual preference*. I don't think it was mandatory to out yourself. A simple denial would probably have worked. Perhaps Admin can delete that post and lobotomise everyone who has read it? * I?m a lesbian trapped in a man?s body ? in case you are wondering. I was ?turned? by a bi-girlfriend who dumped me for a chick-with-a-dick.

Eggs Benedict has to be pretty high up on the list but sometimes life just screams out for an English muffin topped with crispy bacon, a poached egg and a huge dollop of gooey hollandaise sauce. I'm still craving a 99, btw - and now I have to have some Eggs Benedict, too.
-
All this talk of ice cream: I want a 99 - now!

You definitely have a soul-mate on this forum - sorry, can't say more - and a guardian angel looking out for you :)

The Samsung N210 appears to come with Windows 7 Starter installed - a cut down version of the Windows 7 Operating System - and a 60-day trial version of McAfee Anti-Virus. Additional software is also bundled with it: anyPC hyperspace easy resolution manager chargable usb easy network manager skydrive windows live samsung update plus No word processor or spreadsheet applications are included. Note: AnyPC is a remote PC access application that enables a secure one-click connection to a home or office PC - so one could transfer Microsoft Word and Spreadsheet install files across via that link (although one would need to know what one is doing). Also the N210 includes LAN, Firewire and a 3-in-1 memory reader - each being an alternative route for transferring files across. Or, one could just download and install the free and excellent Open Office suite - as suggested above.

If all else fails, here's a link to a free downloadable alternative application known as Open Office.

Over population - should births be taxed?

SteveT - your idea brings to mind the 1973 movie Soylent Green - recycling is all the rage these days. -
If this were the Lounge I'd have claimed a 400 here. Pity.

In case any armchair physicists are tempted to stray from the path of scientific righteousness ... The Cosmological Theory known as the Big Bang holds that Space, Time and Energy/Matter came into being simultaneously - at the Big Bang. Thus, the Universe cannot be the result of quantum fluctuations (which need Space and Time in which to occur). Furthermore, the Zero Net Energy theory is only valid within an Oscillating Universe (a long-time favourite of Prof. Hawking) but contemporary observations are against such an outcome. As far as science can tell, the Universe is not closed. It is not only open but its rate of expansion appears to be accelerating ? both observations argue against Hawking?s math. Also, acceptance of Prof. Hawking's view requires belief in Inflation - a mysterious, omnipotent and omnipresent force that acted as the Prime Mover immediately after the Big Bang and whose energy is now being touted as the gravitational potential underlying Hawking's premise - we might as well call it the 'Hand of God' for all that science knows about it. And, finally, Prof. Hawking is promoting another cosmology book written for the masses ? I can?t think of a better way to boost sales than to hype therein some revelation about God. His publishing success is founded upon that formula.

Welcome back Hugo. I'm genuinely pleased to see you back on the forum. Brilliant timing, by the way - I'm away for a week or so but look forward to knocking heads on my return :) Glad to see RosieH and LadyMuck have settled their differences - well done girls.

While the Blue Danube plays softly in the background, HAL9000's kiwi-fruit shaped launch vehicle docks smoothly with the bagle-shaped Starbucks space station. One small step for man, one giant shag for a computer! I'll be in orbit for a week or so - don't have me doing anything you wouldn't do!
