  1. The first word used by you Kk was "weirdly". That's not gentle, it's "your comment is Weird". Soon after I was "hiding behind a keyboard". What response did you expect? Of course I don't expect people to agree with me. I did naively expect people to actually converse rather than dissect and slur. Best I expect more someplace else.
  2. The forum has administrators. If my comments were offensive or legally contentious the thread would have been removed. That was not the case. What has occurred is one person has decided to question my motives fairly aggressively, using their keyboard to publicly invalidate the thoughts of another. Now that is hiding behind a keyboard if ever I saw it. And now we have three of them circling, agreeing with each other, repeating the same guff in public to make them appear to be more valid than me. Please no! I can't stand being told off by these incredibly wise people who are obvs my betters. You've found me out, I am rumbled, laid bare - and it is you keyboard warriors of the forum who have shown me the error of my ways. Thank you. I shall learn from this in so many ways. More seriously, if you behaved like this in a school it would be called bullying.
  3. I came on here curious to see if anyone else had received such letters sent to children. I also wanted to see if Foxton's watch this forum, or might respond. What I did not expect was a pedant, determined to frustrate conversation and curiosity. You have failed to reply to the meaning of my quite serious issue, preferring to argue, to troll, and to hid behind a keyboard - taking pot-shots. Well done KK. Brilliant. I don't need Confucius (and that's really sad, who are you Kirsty Walk?) My mum once said if "if you've nothing nice to say then say nothing". I've always though that trite but in your case it's perfect.
  4. I'm not hiding behind a keyboard, that seems to be your thing KidKruger, and I object to the needlessly argumentative tone of both of your messages. You seem to not know what and open letter is actually for. To be perfectly clear, I phoned Foxtons, explained the issue and was promised a response which never arrived. So I thought I would use this forum to publicise Foxton's lack of a response. That is a smarter way of applying pressure to a company than simply banging the desk, that would be a one-off dispute, this is public. See KK, I'm using the internet to embarrass Foxton's and in that, by trolling in a semi-amusing manner, you are helping me.
  5. Dear Foxtons, In early August this year my 11 year old daughter received a letter from you. The letter suggested that she should she ever wish to sell her property, Foxtons would be happy to help her do so. I am deeply concerned that you have children on your database. It's also rather silly that your database contains people who obviously don't own properties. I'm not sure as to the legality of you having the names and residence details of minors stored for marketing purposes, maybe you could tell me what the law is on this. Ultimately I want to know how and why my daughter ended up on your database and also to know that she, and all other children have been taken off your mailing lists. I did ask this same question when I phoned your office over a month ago. A member of your staff assured me that the Lordship Lane office manager would be in touch to explain your actions. Disappointingly this call has not happened and so I am writing you this open letter. Yours, Paul
  6. Pugwash Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > "idiots not wearing reflective clothing" That language is really unhelpful. Accidents, like Josephine's, happen in daylight everyday. Those people in daylight accidents, they're "idiots" too? Running red lights is wrong, as is riding without lights but more often-than-not accidents between bikes and autos are caused by drivers not paying attention. Maybe rather than second hand-commentary try riding a bike yourself, then speak with experience, and skip calling people idiots.
  7. Warn them, then ban them. Maybe we need a similar rule in here for those who insist on arguing?
  8. This morning the chicane was on both sides of the bridges and under it too. For me this issue is a two-fold. Conway's ad-hoc law-making is daft and those police should be asking them what they're doing. More importantly, what kind of deal have Southwark done with Conway that they can leave equipment here and all over the borough? Any ideas? nununoolio, sorry to contradict you but there are four options, the fourth being to cycle carefully through. You may not like it but it's the option I'm taking.
  9. What is going on with the building repairs on quiet path between Peckham and the Old Kent Road? The Conway builder chaps 'doing the work' seem more intent on developing their four bend SAFETY chicane to slow cyclists than mending the bridge in a timely manner - like before I die. I'm forty in case etc. Their SAFETY chicane is a crap joke. I like it a little bit, all that careful maneouvering makes me feel like I'm on Junior Kickstart - no bad thing the feel on the way to work. That aside, the situation is a farce. No one heeds their shouty "CYCLISTS DISMOUNT!" sign, a big bold notice that no-one notices. There's no-one actually working, save one fella hitching his low-ride fluro legs up to just below his arse. Even the cyclist police hang out and don't challenge people cycling through the chicane and under the bridge. Conway (and Southwark Council), please. You're using my council tax to fix a bridge slowly and interfering with a lot of people's journeys. You're meant fixing a bridge. Get on with it.
  10. Please, does anyone have a foolproof way of capturing flies? Am tired of the magazine windmill technique.
  11. Some more even nastier graphics, word clip art would do, added to it to turn it's ugliness into a joke? Willing to pay.
  12. Please can someone do something about Harris Boy's logo? It's a massive eyesore located on the south side of the school. It upsets me deeply and I want rid of it.
  13. mrure Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- "There are some self-righteous commentators on this forum." *Brilliant.* If she's not legit she is more determined than most scammers and as others have said, she peculiarly well supplied if it is a scam. If one really is bothered, why not speak with woman in question, nicely, and try to make sense of the situation without resorting to starting threads on here with the word "Beware". It's a strong and snappy way of starting a thread but this woman is neither a wolf or electrified. Proportion please.
  14. Can we finally have an effigy shop? Have been needing that for long time.
  15. There's a basic problem with this mixed use pavement and bikeway idea. It's in Peckham. Peckham Rye Lane, from Tesco to the Library, is in effect one huge pavement. Oblivious people wandering across the road, diagonally, with headphones on and heads turned away from traffic coming towards them. I don't think I've seen anywhere in London where people treat the road more like an extension of the pavement. It's dangerous for all concerned but with a bit of care isn't too much of a problem. But what that does mean that the mixed use bit is seen by cyclists and pedestrians as being the same as the rest of Rye Lane, a free-for-all. Although there are plenty of people on here saying with care it's fine, I've seen cyclists riding at perfectly sensible speeds, knocked flat by pedestians on the path. It's a bad design, should be clearer, or just removed. Made much worse by it's location. ?650,000 very poorly spent.
  16. Didn't know George Osborne lived in ED. You know the old adage. Better running about in Barry Road in pants and UGG boots than ruining the economy. Oh.
  17. I may well but was wondering if there's been any talk of this already.
  18. I'm concerned someone (possibly me) will get seriously hurt cycling through Peckham. In the mornings there seems to be no enforcement of parking laws on the south end of Rye Lane, between the notrth tip of the Rye and Rye train station. Vans and trucks delivering, parked on double yellows force buses to pull out into the on-coming traffic - mainly bikes - pretty wildly sometimes. Have I missed something, is the parking allowed at certain times? Moving up the road one arrives at what can best be described as a comedy bike lane. Next to the single bus lane on the side of the pavement the bike lane is made of a different colour paving, but is not visually distinct enough for many pedestrians to notice it's there - an issue worsened by Peckham being the place to walk about in the road - seems completely the wrong pace to put a bikeway. Having witnessed one cyclist be knocked off inadvertently by a pedestrian and many more near accidents something should to be done to make Rye Lane safer. Has anyone spoken to the Council about these issues?

  21. http://www.retronaut.co/2012/02/alexandra-rose-day-peckham-london-1913/ Peckham seems to have change quite a lot in the last 99 years. Does anyone recognise the roads towards the end of the film? I'm assuming it's Rye Lane?
  22. They're not that good, hence silly over-sized and deliberately badly parked advan. To make matters worse, Papa John's junk mail going on about their Californian tomatoes. I mean, What a great sales idea. "These tomatoes see, they're from the other side of the world and they will taste better than your shitty British tomatoes, especially after we've smothered them in salt and such." Papa John can go and bake his bits in his oven. And 'Papa John' is too young for that name, see Col. Sanders.
