  1. The Dog too
  2. I have just noticed that many hostelries around ED face the sun of an evening. Taking the old ones (EDT, CPT, Magdala, Bish, etc), was this a deliberate choice by those siting them in the first place, so as to make the most of sunny afternoons?
  3. His guitar playing's crap
  4. Well I 'll go for my Tubes t-shirt.
  5. Prob still leafletting. Voucher entitles you to a bag.
  6. Before succumbing to glasses I got John Hannah, but then it transmogrified into our local lad, Jimmy Nesbitt. Hmm, not particularly happy about either of them.... On the inside I actually look like Elvis c. '56
  7. It's no longer raining
  8. Just to head back to the original thread topic in my Asperger-like fashion... To quote from a Campagnolo (nice cycle parts) enthusiasts' website: 'The Japanese have design with Kaizen. This word means continuous improvement in a product. They take a design and optimize it to the last degree.' This in the cycle world at least, explains why Shimano are constantly changing their designs and rendering the old ones obsolete/incompatible. Effing annoying if you want that old part to be working years later. The Italians (Campagnolo) are a different matter. And anyway, where can I get a new top for my Russell Hobbs coffee grinder?
  9. I don't want m/cycles in bus lanes. It will result in (bad) accidents and cyclists will come off badly.

    Heroes

....Oh, I thought you meant David Bowie's finest album........
  11. Hey! I'm wearing my Elvis t-shirt today (but it wasn't me, unfortunately). It came from Gracelands too. Ner-ner-ne-ner-ner!
  12. From what I understand they are generally students working as pro signers-up and not particularly involved in the charities in question.
  13. Is it only me that finds these types most annoying? I think it ought to be one's free choice to give to charities or not (I do) without being hassled outside Somefield or wherever. It is as bad as people flogging stuff on your doorstep. No matter how they do it, I will be turned off if it is the hard sell. Neal St levels of gauntlet-running in a couple of years time?
  14. When Charlie Watts was asked in the film 25X5 what it was like being in The Stones for 25 years, he replied '25 years... 5 years playing and 20 years hanging around.' Or something like that.

    Great Gigs

Are we allowed to post about first ever gigs too or shall I start a new thread?
  17. Here I am again. Ah well, at least it's peaceful. I see giggirl is here, too. Morning! In fact, a few folks. Howcome everyone's up so early today?
  18. Looks like I better get the Aphex Twin. I liked Windowlicker. He's a strange guy. I LIKE Kraftwerk (a german friend once described me as an honorary German, so maybe that's why)- I have Autobahn/TransEurope and Computer World. I am sure more will follow. I also like Steve Lawler - Dark Drums, but we're moving into a different area there. Went through a house phase but it tends to get petty repetetive and formulaic. One family favourite was 'Escape To Formentera' - a nice compilation of more chilled, deeper house-related 'choons'. I am a little surprised about the Propaganda recommendations - I was there in the 80s and I don't know if I want to go back to that whole Sarm West thing. However, several have mentioned them... It doesn't strictly have to be electronic, but I like avant-garde AND listenable (nay, multiple repeat listenable) things. I am a big jazz fan too, but more along the lines of Miles Davis/John Coltrane (esp. 'A Love Supreme' - incredible mind-melter)/Weather Report and others, but getting into that area is like getting into classical. A deep place to mine.
  19. As I understand it, the letters were what you dialled (they still have the system in the US). Looking at my phone, this would give you a code of 869. 274 (BRI)xton..... I guess, or am I wrong? Macro?
  20. Not that I have a problem 'releasing my crap'.
  21. I've always wanted a book that will tell me how to 'release' and 'cleanse' my crap. I have too many things 'just in case'.
  22. Blimey! Gonna have to fill a pad with all these suggestions. Thanks, everyone.
  23. SteveT there is definitely a 1960s vintage 25m (or so) pool at Alleyn's. Our son swims there.
  24. I liked 'Destiny' by Zero7 and have things ike Air and Royksopp (which I like) I also have been listening to LTJ Bukem but he is lacking the melodic aspects (not to mention a little dated-sounding). I look forward to the next drinks session - we can do the deal then ;-) Anyone want a copy of 'Cocksucker Blues'? (assuming I can burn one). Will root around on iTunes anyway. Keep 'em comin'.
  25. Well, I'm not alone now! Macro, our house IS one of those sterile jobs, despite the efforts of the children. BB - sadly I am messy, grumpy and insensitive although I seem to have plateaued at Forumitis L2. I did fancy having a go at the Forum, tho'. PG - can't chuck out my mags - they are 'reference'. Of course, the goss mags can go right now, although he other half won't agree.
