Is it only me that finds these types most annoying? I think it ought to be one's free choice to give to charities or not (I do) without being hassled outside Somefield or wherever. It is as bad as people flogging stuff on your doorstep. No matter how they do it, I will be turned off if it is the hard sell. Neal St levels of gauntlet-running in a couple of years time?

Looks like I better get the Aphex Twin. I liked Windowlicker. He's a strange guy. I LIKE Kraftwerk (a german friend once described me as an honorary German, so maybe that's why)- I have Autobahn/TransEurope and Computer World. I am sure more will follow. I also like Steve Lawler - Dark Drums, but we're moving into a different area there. Went through a house phase but it tends to get petty repetetive and formulaic. One family favourite was 'Escape To Formentera' - a nice compilation of more chilled, deeper house-related 'choons'. I am a little surprised about the Propaganda recommendations - I was there in the 80s and I don't know if I want to go back to that whole Sarm West thing. However, several have mentioned them... It doesn't strictly have to be electronic, but I like avant-garde AND listenable (nay, multiple repeat listenable) things. I am a big jazz fan too, but more along the lines of Miles Davis/John Coltrane (esp. 'A Love Supreme' - incredible mind-melter)/Weather Report and others, but getting into that area is like getting into classical. A deep place to mine.

As I understand it, the letters were what you dialled (they still have the system in the US). Looking at my phone, this would give you a code of 869. 274 (BRI)xton..... I guess, or am I wrong? Macro?

I liked 'Destiny' by Zero7 and have things ike Air and Royksopp (which I like) I also have been listening to LTJ Bukem but he is lacking the melodic aspects (not to mention a little dated-sounding). I look forward to the next drinks session - we can do the deal then ;-) Anyone want a copy of 'Cocksucker Blues'? (assuming I can burn one). Will root around on iTunes anyway. Keep 'em comin'.

Well, I'm not alone now! Macro, our house IS one of those sterile jobs, despite the efforts of the children. OK, so today I was listening to Kraftwerk 'Tour De France Sountracks' and I realised how much I like electronic music. I have several other Kraftwerk cd's, Leftfield, Manuel Gottsching, Terry Riley and so on. Hell, I'd stick Weather Report in there too. Probably other things that I can't remember now, but if I like those things can anyone recommend other stuff with intelligently written/recorded music - not just electronically made, actually with a bit of art and soul ;-) to it. Appreciated.

Call me a little slow, but how exactly do the scum get your details in the petrol staion? I thought they neeed your card for half an hour or so, or is it as simple as retrieving the information swiped through. And doesn't the PIN factor make things more difficult?

I haven't read thru the whole thread, but is The Academy good for kids? You don't need to be 18 to get in, or are kids only allowed for certain gigs? I want to take my son to see some metal or something as he hasn't yet gigged and I know it will blow his tiny.

Yes, I have cut through here loads of times and I don't like doing - and the one-way could surely be improved. It doesn't seem as efficient as it could be. Great idea.

SQ, a quick visit to a decent bike shop will provide you with many security items such as cables for your saddle rails (not chain - lighter and less damaging to your bike) to spend your cash on. LCC also provide free cycle maps, so an alternative quiet route can be found. IMO cycling is about the quality of the ride, sometimes more so than the shortest A to B, and as Asset says it really won't take you long to get a bit fitter each time and those extra stones will disappear. I am a very experienced cyclist but I would avoid the OKR if I could. Look for the thread here about 'Who Cycles To Work Form East Dulwich' (sorry, don't know how to do link thingy).
