  1. Morning! Feel a bit rough. We'd already had a couple before we went to Sema Thai (recommended) and thence to the drink-up. Lots of good folks there. CitizenED, Sean, Michael, SteveT (you're spot on, BTW), Lozzy, Bagpuss, Buggie, Ladygooner (warm up those Motown 45s, woman!), Jah, Keef, and Andrew were those I chatted to, and saw other faces that I haven't yet met properly. The drinking was fast and so was the night unfortunately. I genuinely wanted to go to the Drum afterwards, but thank the Lawd I didn't! You never get out of there alive! It's my birthday today so I'm going t get on the champers and choccie after I've had a fry-up. Didn't catch the name of the person whose birthday it was last night but hope you enjoyed yourself. Lotsa love to you all! See you at the next one.
  2. Blimey, I thought this thread would have died seconds after initial post.
  3. Why aren't people sensible and either park near the recycling bit ('ooh, that's so far away...') and walk fifty metres further, order online or go at 6 in the morning. Or indeed cycle with panniers and go more often!
  4. Thanks.
  5. What's the best public transport route? (Sorry, Admin - wrong area!)
  6. We're not getting younger...
  7. Wanted to be a professional rock musician. Was a professional rock musician. Now can't cope with not being a professional rock musician.
  8. I've not only got off coffee and tea (with milk) but I am now really into green tea. Buy it loose (Twinings in Sainsbo's) cos it's much nicer than green tea bags and use one teaspoon per pot. You can reuse (ie. add water) the same spoonful of tea three times. Use water off the boil. Most of the caffeine is in the first brew so you can have that in the morning for a bit of a start then use the rest throughout the day. I can't bear black tea with milk any more and what's more, green tea is rammed full o' antioxidants, so is very good for you. Green tea is known for helping you feel calm yet alert.
  9. I can point both my big toes to at least vertical while standing normally.
  10. Oh, I wasn't talking dislocated shoulders - I have done my right one in about five times. Absolutely horrible............
  11. Allfornun, the LIDL ones are actually made in Italy, but I take your point. So is plenty of crappy pasta and I can't bear non-bronze die product. I find it hard to imagine that a twelve quid panettone could be four times better, but I am now tempted to buy a more expensive one from somewwhere (on sale, of course). Perhaps you would consider trying the LIDL one and letting us know your opinion. Unless that's below you of course.....
  12. Sounds bad. Had the rider jumped off?
  13. I'm at home with my new-fangled polyester cast after fracturing the end of my radius in a cycle accident and I started thinking about the four breaks I've had in my life. These have all been caused directly or indirectly by sport activities: 2x radius (cycling), 1x metacarpal (rugby) and 1x fibula (running). I consider myself lucky that these were minor. Has anyone else got any stories?
  14. Allfornun, what do you base that opinion on? Have you tried the LIDL ones?
  15. How restrained of me...
  16. As a Panettone fan I can guarantee you won't be disappointed by those at Lidl. I tried one to see whether at ?2.99 they could be any good and they are! Just without any expensive crunchy sugar or fancy toppings on the outside. I think I'll pop down there this week and get another...
  17. Rock on, Mark. A (good) example to us all of how to handle an extreme twat.
  18. I believe the Met are closing it, not the council
  19. Go down to Somerfields and tell that to the councillor!
  20. The building is horrendous, agreed. I don't think you would really like the fuzz to leave, would you Sean?
  21. Lib Dems have a stall outside Somerfield today. Petition has 3,000 signatures already apparently. Whether it wll work or not, I don't know.
  22. I did end up in hospital today Citizen! Unfortunately, it was a self-inflicted cycle accident. I have been riding in London for twenty years or so, but I think I am used to the driving. The key is to assert yourself on the roads well by your position or drivers will take advantage. I reckon the most annoying thing is other riders without respect for the rules or others. One day I am gonna blow .....
  23. Thanks. Very happy with the service received at King's today. I have a broken bone in my wrist but the bike is ok I think - full examination tomorrow will tell. A helmet would possibly have made the impact worse in this case due to the sideways displacement of the head and neck before hitting the ground. See the CTC/Singletrck websites for big (and endless) debates on helmet wear. Basic rule is: definitely wear one off-road, but on-road is debatable.
  24. Thanks guys. It's not a great look and my eye is still swelling!
