  1. So why not move to a neighbourhood less likely to bring out your innate psychotic tendencies? honk Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > FelicityNormal Wrote: > -------------------------------------------------- > ----- > > Is Honk a racist prick? :) > > > > The key factor in ED being relatively low-crime > is > > the fact that it is now a very middle-class > area > > (it certainly wasn't always). 2. So she actually CHASES people. She really does not sound right in the head.
  3. I purchased a lovely bottle of organic Italian red from Green and Blue yesterday.
  4. Presuming her time is not really her own if she's spending it gadding about scamming people? It must actually be reasonably hard work?
  5. To pull this con over and over again and to be convincing at it....must be reasonably hard work, take time and skill, plus legwork on top of that. Wouldn't it be more relaxing and less stressful to just apply for a normal (non-criminal) job and leave it at that?

  7. I'd imagine there are loads of these characters in south London Surprise Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > wait a minute, someone described her as being tall > and someone else said she was only 5'3... > > ...is there more than one?
  8. She's probably willing to travel to your neighbourhood to beg if you will reimburse her cab fare:) bigbadwolf Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > This doesn't really affect me as I don't live in > east Dulwich
  9. That is probably what I would do too. pommie Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > If she turned up at my door claiming to need money > etc then i would tell her to ring a family > member/friend to help her out.
  10. True. If she really is "known" to police and they've mentioned her mental health issues, perhaps they have needed to section her before. There is another woman who operates in Forest Hill and in the Lewisham Shoppping Centre who has her face covered in a thick layer of grease or Vaseline and comes up to you from behind and taps your arm and begs to use your mobile to call her son who has just been in a car accident and is in hospital. I've encountered her three times so far. Her son must be extremely unfortunate to keep on being involved in car accidents :) frump Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Jumpinjackflash, there is a previous thread which > I can't find. 11. These types of people are everywhere. I've frequently been accosted by people claiming their handbag's been snatched/they need cabfare to visit their child in hospital/ etc etc. You can usually tell when it is a scam. Sometimes, if I can't tell whether they are bullshitting or not, I will give them a fiver if I have it to spare. I don't know what all their real stories or motivations are but I will say this: you have to be seriously lacking in self-respect/a clue etc in order to resort to doing this type of thing in order to make your cash. Seriously. I can't imagine going from door to door spouting bullshit and trying to scam a fiver unless I had become a crack addict or otherwise lost my mind. There MUST be easier ways of making a living. Sane human beings naturally want to be able to have some sense of pride and dignity about them and you could not have that while pitching up to strangers' front doors, telling them a load of lies in return for a crumpled fiver. Call me naive, I don't care.

  13. Actually my question was "does Bossman sell organic wine?" Not "should I drink organic wine or not?"
  14. Thieves are losers and this woman's crimes are very, very minor.
  15. PS: one of my cousins is mentally ill and has frequently been arrested for ranting and raving in the street, hassling people, threatening people and so on. He is actually paranoid schizophrenic which is a very serious illness but people often don't realize that, or care. He has been beaten up in custody by the police at least once. It bothers me how little compassion we as a society have for the mentally ill. People with mental illnesses are likely not doing these criminal things because they are complete bastards but rather because they are very sick.
  16. No but have you not heard of compassion FFS? Somebody who goes from door to door, acting strangely and begging for a tenner is either a total loser or mentally ill. If it's the former, she is a sad case and will probably get put on probation or something. If it is the latter, then she is somebody to be pitied and will hopefully get the psychiatric help she needs once she is caught. I mean, damn, her crimes don't exactly sound sophisticated and especially profitable. She sounds like a really sad case to me.
  17. I have absolutely no idea whether this woman is mentally ill or not. However, if the police say she is they likely have some evidence to prove their suspicions.
  18. If the woman really is mentally ill doesn't she need help and treatment rather than scorn? Quite frankly if somebody who is mentally unwell scammed me out of ?6 or ?10 I'd feel like a bit of a prat for falling for it but it is hardly going to have a hugely negative on my life or future.
  19. Hi Honk Not really going to get into the organic vs non-organic argument. But when a shop is called Bossman Organic Wines (I believe that is the name) I would expect to find organic wines inside. The person I spoke to in there tried to talk me out of buying organic wine which is why I suspect he was not the owner.
  20. I am not sure whether the person I spoke to was the owner. I did ask the person working in there about his selection of organic wines and was unable to get a straight answer. He was strange... What is the owner like?
  21. Has anyone been inside Bossman wine shop? I didn't find any organic wine when I ventured in and wonder if things have improved since then.
