Awww, poor little puddy cat, how long have you been carrying that around rent free in your head? I'll tell you what, I'll apologise when you apologise for Brexit. Deal or No Deal?...
-
''You've said a few times recently in fits of pique that I am a 'no dealer'....I don't know where you've got that from. That was never my position. If you're going to insist on abusing me and my positions, then at least base it on things you haven't fabricated please.'' Lighten up Cat, since when has calling someone a No Dealer been classed as abuse? It hasn't gone unnoticed that you've been playing the ''Oh poor me, I'm the only reasoned debater on here'' card a lot recently. What's up, Cat had his fur rubbed up the wrong way? You libertarian, free-thinking, critical thinkers are such wusses sometimes :) Back to your No Dealer credentials, you weren't exactly jumping off the roof shouting what a terrible idea No Deel was either... At the risk of raising the ire of some on here....given the situation we have found ourselves in, I am starting to question whether 'no deal' is actually all that bad? FYI. None of the above was written in a 'fit of pique'. Try your self-projectionism on someone else...

Defending the indefensible - another PM thread

This cuts across party politics. They aren't working and are clearly socialising, no different to going to the pub after work in normal times. Those lucky enough to have a garden weren't allowed to socialise in such numbers. It was literally one rule for them, another for the rest of us... -
Brexit broke party lines, there were plenty of Lexiteers as well as pro-Remain Tories...

That photo is a great visual metaphor for the Upstairs Downstairs world Johnson and his cabal inhabit. The toffs lording it on the terrace in their comfy seats while the plebs make do with standing around on the grass below. Looking forward to Cold War Steve's take... -
Exactly Seph, and not forgetting we're now on our 4th Brexit minister. It was all very predictable, we literally have a Vote Leave Gov. ...its Brexit's fault, its not how sh!t this government is.... Although IMO any form of Brexit was worse for the country than remaining, there were forms of Brexit that could've been better than what we've ended up with, regardless of a Gov's incompetence. But no, that wasn't pure enough for No Dealers like Cat, who then have the gall to now just blame the Gov. It's a common theme, it's never their fault..and never will be. The reality is, it's a shit Brexit allied with a shit Gov...

My prediction is that's there's going to be a run on pork. SELL! SELL! SELL!...
-
To me it was pretty clear that Seph was quoting someone else, be it from here or another source. I usually use italics for someone else's comments/quotes etc, and also in the third person e.g. It's not my Brexit! or for stressing a word. After a while you get used to most people's posting idiosyncrasies, it's what catches out the multiple account holders...

How's that low regulatory/low taxes thinking coming along Frosty?... amazing that Brexiters like David Frost can?t see that they?d have a better chance of low taxes if they hadn?t just overseen a trade deal estimated to reduce tax revenues by ?40bn a year

A couple of points picked up in the by-election aftermath... Postal votes which were cast before the Partygate revelations broke, were heavily in Lib Dems favour, suggesting they didn't play a significant role in people's thinking/voting. Rather, NS is a strong rural/farming area, lots of unhappiness about Brexit being bad for UK farmers as witnessed in the detail of the recent Australia/NZ trade deals.

Ooooh, what a coincidence... Bluster is all they've got...

Lord Frost reportedly furious with the terms of his resignation after negotiating them himself....:)
-
All together now... ''That's not my Brexit!'' That Frost is considered in some Brexit quarters as a political heavyweight shows what an intellectual vacuum still exists at the heart of Brexit. Frost, the UK's chief negotiator of the 'oven ready deal', lauding what a fantastic deal it was, only to then, a few months later, castigate it as a terrible deal. I guess he needed that time to Google what he'd actually signed up to...

So, the bloke in charge of the investigation into the bloke in charge of No.10 communications, and presumably behind the PM's line ''There was no party'' for the past week, who turned out to have been at the party handing out awards to the assembled staff, turns out to have been at another party. The sheer, utter contempt etc etc etc... -
Dan Hodges (Mail on Sunday opinion writer) hasn't heard of tactical voting... On the by-election. Disastrous result for Boris. But a pretty terrible result for Starmer as well.

Tories are saying "he's on a final warning" But in reality... there can't be long if they want to win next election. Indeed, but it might even be too late for that, as a rather big, dark slow-moving Covid/Brexit cloud has appeared called rising living costs. I think electorally they might already be screwed...

What I've noticed in the past when I've made a prediction and then the game has later been postponed, is that the rearranged game appears with the original prediction, which can be amended up to the new kick-off time as per normal...

When the Owen Patterson scandal broke, I believe it gained a lot of 'cut-through' because the Tories couldn't tag Brexit onto the scandal. Likewise the latest Partygate scandals. For a while, Brexit has been the Tories silver bullet, aided and abetted by Remain friendly parties not co-operating. What's eye-opening about this result is that NS is VERY Brexity, yet the Tories were unable to tap into that sentiment anymore. Once you take away Brexit, the Tories, and Johnson in particular, flounder...

It's one of the safest Tory seats, so if it did go to the Lib Dems then it could well be the final nail. Even if Johnson does go, there's no one of much merit to take over, I mean, Liz Truss is one of the favourites, gawd help us!...
