  5. Christmas wouldn't be Christmas without carols from King's College, Cambridge...
  6. I thought This Country was good, if you don't mind the docu/comedy format worth giving it a try. I'd second Two Doors Down if you like gentle/observational humour, recently watched the Christmas special so should be available on iPlayer. Detectorists is in a similar vein, again should be available on iPlayer...
  7. Ground for outdoors, floor for indoors...
  8. I tried to copy and paste this article as I know some people don't like clicking on links, but it came up with a copyright warning so you'll have to make do with the link... https://www.ft.com/content/bc0563c8-f6ac-40f0-83d4-943ed08a2d79?shareType=nongift It's about the thoughts of 3 small UK companies who traded within the EU and continue to do so post-Brexit, and how the first year of Brexit has impacted on them, in particular by creating an 'internal border of red tape'. It's not sexy and won't show up on any 'balance sheet economist' spreadsheet, merely highlights what it's like at the Brexit coal face for the thousands of similar sized businesses and livelihoods...
  9. Re. Liz Truss, it's all about positioning herself for a leadership challenge, and that will include pandering to the ERG nutters. All sounds very familiar and with a predicable outcome when they encounter reality...
  10. I just hope that the fishing and farming communities remember who it was who sold them down the river for their own political gains, and when someone like Johnson/Gove/Farage rocks up for another photo-stunt, they run them out of town There were signs with the recent by-election that this is so, for such a Brexity community to then vote for a candidate with uber-remain credentials shows you just how much discontent there must be right now. Of course there will always be winners and losers in any major economic change of direction, there have even been winners during this pandemic. But Brexit wasn't sold on that premise, quite the opposite in fact for the fishing and farming sectors, as it was all about a chance to 'take back control' and prosper. I'm sure what now gripes with a lot of people is the casual off-handedness that such 'collateral damage' was always factored in. Claims to being sympathetic to people's plights ring hollow when you remember that they voted knowingly to put them in that plight in the first place...
  11. Week 16 points... Week 16 table...
  12. Can't recall attending any office meeting where the boss' wife was in attendance. Office parties/social get-togethers on the other hand...
  13. In your dreams...rent free
  14. Show us the minutes of the 'meeting'...:)
  15. Awww, poor little puddy cat, how long have you been carrying that around rent free in your head? I'll tell you what, I'll apologise when you apologise for Brexit. Deal or No Deal?...
  16. ''You've said a few times recently in fits of pique that I am a 'no dealer'....I don't know where you've got that from. That was never my position. If you're going to insist on abusing me and my positions, then at least base it on things you haven't fabricated please.'' Lighten up Cat, since when has calling someone a No Dealer been classed as abuse? It hasn't gone unnoticed that you've been playing the ''Oh poor me, I'm the only reasoned debater on here'' card a lot recently. What's up, Cat had his fur rubbed up the wrong way? You libertarian, free-thinking, critical thinkers are such wusses sometimes :) Back to your No Dealer credentials, you weren't exactly jumping off the roof shouting what a terrible idea No Deel was either... At the risk of raising the ire of some on here....given the situation we have found ourselves in, I am starting to question whether 'no deal' is actually all that bad? FYI. None of the above was written in a 'fit of pique'. Try your self-projectionism on someone else...
  17. This cuts across party politics. They aren't working and are clearly socialising, no different to going to the pub after work in normal times. Those lucky enough to have a garden weren't allowed to socialise in such numbers. It was literally one rule for them, another for the rest of us...
  18. Brexit broke party lines, there were plenty of Lexiteers as well as pro-Remain Tories...
  19. That photo is a great visual metaphor for the Upstairs Downstairs world Johnson and his cabal inhabit. The toffs lording it on the terrace in their comfy seats while the plebs make do with standing around on the grass below. Looking forward to Cold War Steve's take...
  20. Exactly Seph, and not forgetting we're now on our 4th Brexit minister. It was all very predictable, we literally have a Vote Leave Gov. ...its Brexit's fault, its not how sh!t this government is.... Although IMO any form of Brexit was worse for the country than remaining, there were forms of Brexit that could've been better than what we've ended up with, regardless of a Gov's incompetence. But no, that wasn't pure enough for No Dealers like Cat, who then have the gall to now just blame the Gov. It's a common theme, it's never their fault..and never will be. The reality is, it's a shit Brexit allied with a shit Gov...
  21. My prediction is that's there's going to be a run on pork. SELL! SELL! SELL!...
  22. To me it was pretty clear that Seph was quoting someone else, be it from here or another source. I usually use italics for someone else's comments/quotes etc, and also in the third person e.g. It's not my Brexit! or for stressing a word. After a while you get used to most people's posting idiosyncrasies, it's what catches out the multiple account holders...
