  1. We made the front page of todays South London Press!
  2. Wow Sue, what choice! Mine is in an empty 'bottle green' cordial bottle with labels removed (cheapskate option).
  3. I love my Sketchers - feel like slippers
  4. My daughter goes to Stagecoach Dulwich - based at Bessemer Grange School. She has been going nearly three years and is thirteen. She loves it. They put on demonstrations at the end of the autumn and spring term and a big production each summer term. She has performed at two west end theatres and at the Red House Book Awards (where she met David Walliams). They also organise trips to West End show at least twice per year - Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Matilda etc. Although it is expensive - ?30 per week for 3 hours of lessons, I would recommend it.
  5. You can read the ofsted report. It is now on the Fairlawn school website
  6. Old suitcase under the bed
  7. Not East Dulwich but the Waverley Arms ivydale Road has just reopened after refurb. Nice couple running it. BBQ until kitchen opens in September.
  8. I enjoyed it too, there's plenty to see and do. I'd say three hours for your visit is about right. It is in the middle of nowhere though. You can get the bus from the station but it's another 25 minutes. So a very tiring day altogether. The cafe and shop are quite pricey, we took a packed lunch.
  9. Russia dock woodland at Surrey Quays is nice. Make sure you walk to the top of Stave hill - lovely views!
  10. I hated it, I felt sick and dizzy for hours afterwards. Not something I would ever want to do again. Would NOT recommend it.
  11. The Castle, Crystal Palace Road, The Man of Kent, Nunhead Lane or The White Horse sound exactly what you are looking for.
  12. Brownies is for girls only aged 7-10. Girl guides is for 10-14 year olds. Your son should look for cubs groups or perhaps woodcraft folk if he wants to join a mixed group?
  13. The sign is great to use as a sledge if it snows!!
  14. Thumbguards definitely work. My daughter took less than two weeks to completely give up thumb sucking (at eight years old). She still needed a brace at thirteen though.
  15. Or why not go to the brand new Olympic sized ice skating rink in Streatham. It's right next to Streatham station. Check website for opening times.
  16. Google dulwich fireworks 2013 for details of Saturdays event at Dulwich Sports Club
  17. Put a notice in the Fairlawn newsletter - there may well be a childminder or another parent who could help out.
  18. Raise the Roof choir at Horniman Museum. Tuesday or Thursday 7pm - 9pm. Courses start this week ?85 for ten weeks. No audition and you do not need to read music.
  19. M&S outlet upstairs at Lewisham had loads in lots of different colours last week. ?5.50 half price - bargain!
  20. I had one in my garden this morning with its long beak in my lawn. I have never seen it before - a red tuft on it's head and when it flew off a yellow bottom - very striking and beautiful.
  21. top tip - take a bottle of water AND a spare cap for it in your pocket.
  22. I have finally been released from my contract (with no financial penalty) after numerous telephone conversations and emails. The problem with the mast seems unlikely to be resolved any time soon.
  23. As a parent of two children at Kingsdale I am pleased to note the results of the recent inspection. Good in all categories with outstanding for pupil behaviour. Well done pupils and teachers!
  24. There's a new cake decorating shop at top end of Lordship Lane opposite the Harvester and a few doors from the Barcelona Bar.
