  1. Agreed Jollybaby - forum classic!
  2. I stayed at Hotel Soho last year. It was great - modern, clean and very safe. Had a great rooftop pool deck too.
  3. Well done MrBen, well done!
  4. Is anyone else wondering why MrBen isn't wanted at this wedding?
  5. Not sure that's decadence Mr Ben. Isn't that a Friday night for some people?
  6. Emotional Support Dogs
  7. Red Devil and Maxxi - you have just described my childhood Christmases to a T.
  8. Happy Christmas and a great 2015 to all! Ex ED - now USA
  9. I loved this! I lived in Rodwell Road, went to Heber, and the Heber Arms was my Grandad's local. Great memories.
  10. Keep up Loz, he already said he did it more than once.
  11. Bawdy-Nan = my hero/heroine.
  12. So sorry for your loss. Had a sudden death in my own family last week so you have my sympathies, it's such a helpless feeling isn't it.
  13. Agree with Jah Lush... it was a great pub in the 70's. The garden was fantastic, especially in those glorious summers of 75 and 76!
  14. Did someone say The Cherry Tree? Now I feel crushed and devalued.
  15. That is so sad. Such a great talent. Depression is a cruel illness.
  16. In the early 80's a friend and I went from London to Spain on the "Magic Bus", leaving from Kings Cross at midnight. I think it cost 20 pounds return! From the horrific Channel crossing, to breaking down in Paris and having to wait 8 hours for a replacement coach, to the coach driver not having the right paperwork to cross the French/Spanish border.... it was the trip from Hell. I think we flew home.
  17. Does he really think ED issues/gossip mean THAT?? Or it's a bot...
  18. My two (both males) are 19 and 24, so I feel like I have been suffering teenagerhood foe a lifetime! There have been many days when I longed for the simplicity of potty training and when to start solids!! The 24 year old (moved out for 2 years and then moved back) has recently started to have entire conversations with us, rather than just grunting! 19 year old is still having mood swings! I am starting to see a light at the end of the tunnel though! Love this thread!
  19. Same here Louisa, the 70's and early 80's were great for me. The Uplands, The Grove, The Magdala. Shopping down Rye Lane was the highlight of the weekend - Ravel Shoes (who I later worked for!) the market next to Marks, the record dept. at Jones and Higgins - it had everything you wanted! My first date was at the Peckham Odeon... great times!!
  20. I had a feeling it was right....glad to help!
  21. Sincere condolences annabel42. So sorry for your loss.
  22. Carole - I had a closer look and I really believe that the William Harman with his sons on the 1911 is your family. He remarried in 1913 to Hannah Rivett, and in 1911 she was living at 29 South Street, just 3 houses away from William at 35. The ages for William and Frederick match, as does the occupation of William. Sidney and Frank would not have been born yet and the missing Harry, Jane and William could be explained by William age 20 would probably be on his own. Jane and William ages 11 and 13 could have been sent to live with relatives or even sent away to school, as their mother died a couple of years previously. As William and the boys were only living in 1 room, there probably just wasn't enough room for everyone. What do you think?
  23. Sorry about that - I was going by the occupation being the same as on the marriage certificate. I'll keep looking for you.
  24. I didn't realize you didn't have the 1911... here are the details: 35 South St, Walworth (1 room) William Harman 43 widowed Firewood cutter Fredrich Harman 16 Bottle washer Sidney Harman 10 Frank Harman 6 I agree - you might get more response in the Lounge!
