Obtuse - but only because it always reminds me of that memorable scene from The Shawshank Redemption where the corrupt warden throws Andy Dufresne into the "hole" for using the word.

Flight disruptions due to adverse weather conditions

You two getting itchy feet again? Well, as far as I know, the highest hill in Singapore is Bukit Timah which soars to a massive height of...err... 164m. New Zealand now is a different kettle of fish, but I suspect the hills there wouldn't be sufficiently challenging for two dexterous mountain goats like the pair of you. Have you ever considered signing up for Mount Everest? The downside is that you might have to win the lottery first: last time I heard it cost around ?20,000 (minimum):-S. Many consider the Lake District to be at its most beautiful at this time of year - you might freeze your tits off though! Happy New Year xx -

Flight disruptions due to adverse weather conditions
Ladymuck replied to Ladymuck's topic in The Lounge
Hey Lil Bro, I hope you and H are having a fun time. In a few hours I shall be getting ready for my flight to Auckland. No snow in Singapore, though there has been lots of monsoon type rain. I saw in the Singaporean papers today that Britain is thinking about a new law that could see airports heavily fined for disrupting passengers' travel. I also see that further snow is expected? Let's hope that the airports and train stations are better prepared this time. It would be awful if those that were stranded on their outbound journey were also to get caught up in similar chaos on their return journey too. What a nightmarish thought. Good luck to everyone travelling to/from the UK. -

Getting the timing out problem again...and I am in a hotel, on hubby's new laptop, using wi-fi, in Singapore!!!! Why does this keep happening? Could it be something I am doing/not doing? Boo hoo...*sniff* Huguenot, are you having any problems down the road?

Hey thanks guys. Hardly any delay... Spent a fabulous Christmas Day in Singapore and linking up with the forum's mighty Huguenot and his lovely other half - B. Thanks H and B for a (ahem...literally) smashing evening. It certainly feels good to be out of that wretched snow. Temperature here currently 28 degrees. Pickle: are you South (as in South Island)? We shall be leaving for the North Island in a few days - may venture South (as in south of the island) but will not be going to the South Island: too much hard work, and something to do next time LOL. Enjoy the rest of your stay and have a safe flight home. Don't forget to pack a bit of sun for the sun-deprived folk of ED. Well, hope you all had a lovely time and that all of you who have been plagued by colds/flu/snot are feeling much better. HAPPY NEW YEAR to you all. x -

Mick Mac will grow to love Narnia. Sue and DJKQ will have killed each other. Katie1997, Mick Mac, Daizie, Quids, Narnia, karter, HAL9000, and Huguenot will continue to make me piss myself on here. This forum will continue to grow from strength to stength and when Mark knocks Bill Gates off his perch, I shall be able to say: "I knew him (M) when he was nowt".

giggirl: BIG Hug (and I haven't forgotten that I owe you a couple of drinks from the Greyhound...)
